    Hi guys, I'm Eileen. In this video, I shared about how luxury minimalism and low buy have changed my life. I used to think happiness was about visiting Chanel, scoring an Hermes bag, or getting a Cartier bracelet. After embracing minimalism, I find joy in the simplest things in life. Just a little disclaimer, this video isn't meant to propose anti haul. Although I've done a no buy year (2020), I still enjoy luxury items. Having said that, I'm now a lot less obsessed with chasing after the next thing on my wish list. In fact, I have a long list of things I no longer buy 😄 If you're new to minimalism, please join me on the path of wanting less, you'll never look back xx

    Thank you for watching this video about how luxury minimalism and low buy (it's pretty close to no buy for me now) have changed my life for the better. My happiness no longer relies on a trip to Dior, a bag from Chanel or any designer hauls. I am truly happier and more fulfilled xx

    I did a high buy year in 2020 and it gave me multiple LV bags and not an ounce of added happiness. In fact it gave me a heaviness feeling. I sold 70% of my LV bags this year and haven't bought a new bag. My closet is emptier but my being is happier. Thanks for the wisdom.

    Such a good point! I recently went to Paris for a long weekend and after half a day of shopping, in lines, got a wake up call. I was in Paris and in a shop I could be anywhere in the world, while I could instead enjoy the city and people. Like you, I have decided to cut out shopping while travelling.

    I went through decluttering my luxury items in 2018, basically sold 70% of my bags & SLGs. It's been so easy to maintain. I have a 1 bag a year rule, but I haven't purchased for many years now, it's not even a thing I think about anymore. Clears up a lot of physical and mental space for me.

    This is such a breath of fresh air Eileen. We are bombarded with so much on social media that encourages us to spend and buy more and more. It's is so easy to go down that road. I appreciate your voice reminding us that less is more -- really, how many designer bags do we really need? Wonderful video as always.

    As humans we were never designed to be materialistic. In fact, our souls need human interactions and experiences that trigger all our 7 senses. That’s why people with “things” are never happy, and they keep chasing the next thing, hoping to fulfill that emptiness that only another human can provide. Materialism only masks the emptiness and loneliness one is experiencing. If one shops because of boredom, then you need a hobby, preferably one with people. We have all fallen into these bad habits, but identify what is missing and look to fill that void vs buying things and chasing that high of buying. The last 2 years has taught me more about myself then the last 25 have.

    Low Buy also allowed me to learning about actually investing which for me is way more fun. After 2 years of this I discovered i could afford multiple mini vacations and by summer 2022 We will be heading for the Maldives effortlessly. My bucket list is being truly met all from not mindlessly shopping for things I would be bored with within weeks. Experience achieved comfortably trumps things.

    Hi Eileen, just to share that my best friend and I have decided not to buy any gifts for each other on Xmas and bday. This decision came about as she recently quit her job due to overstrain on eyes (side effect fm over work) and hence diagnosis with glaucoma, hbp and anxiety. Then she also realised that once she slow down, she realised she already have so much and there is really no need to continue to buy. Thus breaking the cycle of long hrs of work, stress with work, shop shop shop, work again.

    I had a laugh when you spoke about having to send stuff home when you were on holiday. I have to do that all the time as I am passionate about history and everywhere I go I manage to collect piles of books from museums, palaces and other historical sites and they get very heavy and have to be posted home several times. Then when I return to those places decades later they have a whole gift shop full of new ones that I can’t resist.

    I’m so tired of RUclips and Instagram bloggers setting unrealistic expectations of how many luxury purchases one should make, all those unboxings and hauls just create FOMO and hype around products, just like the price increases. Also it almost seems like luxury fashion became fast fashion, every week/month there are new releases, constantly looking for the next best thing… so tired of keeping up with this broken fashion system. I just wonder when the blogger has a collection of 30+ bags, when does she have time to actually get the use out of them? It’s not possible to properly review an item, if you have been wearing it just for a few days. I have 10 bags right now in my wardrobe and I’m already so overwhelmed of switching between the bags and figuring out how to use all of them, so this is why I’m downsizing my collection and giving some bags I no longer want to wear to my mom and sis… but these bloggers just have all these expensive items collecting dust on their shelves…

    • @tekilaqueen
      @tekilaqueen 2 года назад +1

      Also I noticed that most of the bags I like to own are not the ones that are trendy at all or that have been influenced somehow by a blogger… most of the luxury bags I own are out of the radar of these so-called fashion bloggers, there are few reviews on them if any, I mostly enjoy the functionality of the bag and its design, rather than falling into the “fashion victim” trap of buying something that everybody “needs” to have

    Thank you for another great video, Eileen ♥️. I agree with you and I also try to minimize shopping, but sometimes I can’t help wanting to buy and it’s really hard to stay strong. This year I managed to cancel all my credit cards and get debt free in March, and that was a real game changer for me. Plastic money was so easy to use! I sometimes ended up paying four digits credit card bills by the end of the month, and that needed to stop. I now buy much more intentionally, seeing my money go away at the very moment I decide to buy something, and I no longer owe any money to my bank, which for me means freedom. I have also opened a separate savings account. But sometimes I feel in the need of new clothes or shoes and I don’t know how to stay stronger and not obsess over it. I panic with the idea of Black Friday and Christmas excitement to push me to the dark zone and spend thousands and kill my savings 😥. Could you maybe do a video with tips to skip this kind of feeling? I would love to hear your thoughts on how to avoid temptations in such a hard time of the year. Thank you and have a lovely week! 😘😘
