- Sometimes "cheaper" is not always the answer. It was time to say goodbye to my budget Amazon Strut Bars in place of something better! This time around, we're doing it RIGHT with DC Sports One-Piece Carbon Steel Strut Bars. Less Flex, Better Handling, Papa John's.
While many of the mods on my Honda Civic are budget oriented, others are worth spending a little more on. With my Amazon/eBay Strut bars constantly coming loose, I was in search of a SOLID one-piece design. Did the cheap option make a difference? Absolutely. But the CS-2 bars have drastically raised the bar (get it). So we're trying this again, with hopefully a better long-term solution for making the Honda Civic handle better with my supporting suspension mods.
Whether you own a Honda Civic or something else entirely, I personally think strut bars are still an overlooked add-on that absolutely make a difference. On lighter cars, you'll notice a better "turn in" feeling, as well as displacement of bumps in the road. You WILL feel the difference within the wheel, but whether you push the car hard enough to notice the other differences is up to you. So in today's video I show you how to install the strut bars (easy) with my thoughts along the process. My carpet cutting could have been a bit better, but not the worst thing I've done.

I'm a long time subscriber of your channel. I have 97 Civic myself that I've been slowly but surely trying to customize. There's nothing wrong with your upgrade and i absolutely understand your frustrations with your old ones. I'm not going to lie tho, I'm probably going to go the cheaper route you initially went with anyway so if you decide to get rid of your old set up, let me know what you want for them and If the price is right I'd definitely be interested. That is if you'd even be interested in parting with them. Either way, thanks in advance.
The cheap ones were not BAD just slightly annoying. I would still recommend them for anyone trying to save money

I too went "cheap ebay" on my strut bars initially. Problem I noticed, was there are too many weak points in it. The black semi circle mount to the chassis and strut tower isn't that great. The threads and adjustable nut on each end are a weak point that allows for way too much flexing. You did your Civic justice by spending more and getting a solid bar. No weak points
Just put mine on my CM5 a couple days ago. Love the way it looks and it makes a big difference.

The DC Sports header actually makes more power than the Skunk2 Alpha header. It is a good upgrade.

The reason those bolts loosened was 100% down to poor design. The way the bolts attach, they act as hinges for the bar, allowing it to tilt on that pivot point every time each wheel hits a bump. The flexing works the bolts loose by twisting the nut/bolt backward and forward on each hit. Proper design is either designing the bolts to install up/down, using 2 of them to counter the hinge setup, or, like you picked up, making it a solid bar. Welding the old bar into one piece once installed would've worked, too, but it's not as clean looking.
Either way, the proper way to install one of these is to jack up the front of the car by the center to take the stress off of the strut towers, install the bar, and when the car's lowered back down, tension is preloaded, instantly ready to fight off flex. Installing it on the ground causes a bit of initial give/slop, since it's not possible to add the same preloaded tension that's waiting to fight back against the first sign of flex.

Anthony, are you sure your part # was correct?
I purchased one of those years ago, CSB1315, and couldn't get it to fit even with the car on jacks to correct the flex. That strut was about 1 5/16" too long. Perhaps you were fortunate enough to have less flex in your engine bay during your install?

Are you ever ditch that hot air intake ? As for the first strut bar all you had to do was add lock tight to the nuts and they would have never loosen again .love the dc bars tho buying some myself.

Steel strat bar I musta missed that video when you did it the first time but no bigger. Btw I wanted to ask i just don’t know what it’s called but when you like wash your tires what is that thing you put them or place? I’m trying to get one but I have no idea what there called or something you just use that just works when washing and cleaning your tires?
When is the break swap? Will you upgrade the front breaks as well? Did you find the part you needed to run new break lines?
I would most likely do all 4 but I may HAVE to do new drum shoes in the meantime

There is nothing wrong with those cheap braces all you have to do is add a second nut on each side to serve as locking nut so it doesn't work it self loose...its a universal after all

I just ordered one front strut but it did not fit my EK hatch, looks like the bar is an inch larger. And the holes don’t match. I re-order a new one and same issues

Unfortunately I ordered this bar twice, for my 7th gen coupe. Both times I was told they were out of stock. Still unable to locate one anywhere because I guess it's been discontinued. Sucks because all I wanted to do was improve suspension on this car.

DC sports make 2 that look alike. CSB1304 " for B series and integra" and CSB 1304 " for regular civics ".. the first one is cheaper but the mounting spot is the same. anyone tried both? i have a civic dx
