My son and I were talking about how much we both adored Bob Newhart. Several months ago I was lucky enough to find the first LP done by Bob Newhart for sale. I was able to purchase it for my son.

If i send 3.00$ wonder if i can still get a written transcript of this legendary transcript. Absolutely 2 goats who lived a life of love n loyalty. Both could of had plenty of affairs but stayed committed to their wives. To me thats the ultimate sign of a man whether it be 1965 or 2024. MUCH LOVE TO DON & BOB. Also thanks phil for getting them to do a show together since they hated being in same room together evidently

My wife and I were fortunate to see Bob Newhart perform live in Toronto in the mid 1990's---I will never forget his first joke..." Hi, I 'm Bob Newhart---I am half German and I am half Irish...I guess that makes me a meticulous drunk"----What a great 2 hour performance from a great comedian!...... R.I.P Bob and Don!!...Two of the best of their Era!...

That's a nice sentiment. I recall being a teen and on the days when I didn't have to be up for school, my mom worked nights and my Dad would let me stay up late to watch the Late show with Johnny Carson and my father was a quiet man but when he would laugh, I would laugh as it brought me joy to see him so happy.

Don was a true sweetheart. "Mister Warmth" was not said in irony; it was a true description. His comedy was insulting, but in real life, nobody was sweeter. When you see him bantering with Carson and others, that's just his schtick. Watch for when he takes a moment to flash that smile at his friends. He loved deeply.

This video was so enlightening for me! I'm 75 years-old and always been a huge fan of Bob Newhart, Don Rickles...not so much. Mainly because I always thought he was such a jerk, always belittling people. This video shows what a fine actor he was! I'm really surprised at what a great person he was in real life. To find out that he and Bob were such close friends was a real eye-opener.

As an old boomer I grew up with these guys. I had Newhart’s comedy albums, along with Mel Brooks’ 2000 yr old man, george Carlin, & of course the now disgraced Cosby. To me, these were foundational comedians, the comic equivalent of Renoir or Beethoven. I really miss all these guys.

I loved Bob Newhart and later found Jack Benny again. It reminded me that I had heard Jack Benny when I was a kid. Jack and Bob do this head movement or gesture, When something is happening in their act they would turn their head around toward the back like they were looking for help or confirmation that something is weird. Hilarious. I see young comedians do it too. Thinking of them as buddies are great to think about!

I was introdced to Don Rickles at the front gate when I worked at the Towers in Century City. A young up and coming comedian was working as a guard at the front gate and Don came to pick someone up for dinner. So he introduced me and explained that I had worked many years in the entertainment industry and Mr. Rickles said to me " so what am I supposed to be impressed?" and I said it's nice to meet you too.

What went on TV was clean, Rickles could be blue as the sky. Just because a joke is tame by our standards doesn't mean it wasn't pushing the envelope of the time. I saw an interview Red Skelton gave where he talked about a joke he made in a Vaudville act that was merely suggestive that got them arrested.
