I saw Bob perform that same Disney strike routine live while in the audience of the Tonight Show just a few weeks before this. Getting to see him live was a privilege and I certainly miss him today. RIP, Bob!
A real performer, he didn't turn his back to the audience moving toward his seat. Some hosts don't like that, but real performer prefer the audience. You can feel this slight in the tone of the host for the rest of the show.
@@PhillipGivens-t5v Funny you should mention that one. Only 3 weeks ago I got on a bus being driven by a graduate of the Newhart School of Bus Driving. He did a drag race take-off from the bus stop before anyone could sit down. I landed 6 feet behind myself. Bob would've been SO proud!
You need to understand the characters of the culture from which a comedian comes to get the drift of the jokes. I watched an american viewing the Aussie comedian Sir Les Patterson a la dame Edna and he missed most of the humour .
A man could do a lot worse than to spend so many years bringing so much joy to so many people. God rest him. ♥
That is the truth he was brilliant
Underated. A true comedic genius.
A national (and international) treasure. RIP, good man.
He is a legend and legends never die.
Brilliant!! The man's timing was breathtaking!
Newhart had a seemingly effortless combination of an Everyman and a comedian. A natural wonderful talent.

Oh my goodness, so glad I lived in the same time as this sweet, lovely genius. Thank you Bob Newhart, May you rest in peace.
RIP, Mr Newhart... you'll always be my family's favourite driving instructor!
What a hilarious sketch that was!
I've been a huge fan of Bob Newhart for circa 50 years. ❤
His funniest sketch in my opinion was the supposed telephone conversation with Walter Raleigh on the discovery of tobacco.
Only discovered that recently. Fantastic.
The driving instructor
@@henrietta1066oh that blue flashing light blinded you!
I remember it well in the 60s.
His one sided telephone call monologs were master classes in comedy.
You could imagine the person on the other side perfectly.
He was a brilliant storyteller. Loved him as soon as i heard him. Rip Bob
The crazy teacher bit definitely caught on.
A great comedian and wordsmith.
Bob's a class act and no mistake!
I'm so old, when I was little I had a vinyl LP with the Driving Instructor on the A side. It's still funny. Loved Bob Newhart. RIP.

Major Major Major Major. THANKS

Always has been
I found part of his genius to have the audience fill in the punch line before he gave his own absolutely genius.
I love Bob’s humor…..from a New Zealander………his Sir Walter Raleigh is his best one!
Thank you
9:21 It is called the Peter's Principal
It's also called modern political career standard operating procedure.
A comedy genius........ to repeat other comments

King Kong on the empire state building was just weird and funny
What year was this recorded? Excellent quality.
What theme are they playing at the introduction? Amazing!
What about the skip with the bus driver that was one of my favorites

Bob would've been SO proud!
Nothing wrong with that English toff accent, Bob
Quite succesfuL home in LA
British humour vs American humour - cerebral vs slapstick.
I agree, but there's always Benny Hill.
Maybe
Norm stole that from Bob!
His uncle Jean Luc de Gatineau. 😎
Love Bob, but if he just keep it down....
8:26 the old chair creaks under Bob! cheap british show

Norm did that first joke much better - I think on Conan
You seem to me the type of guy who owns a doghouse.
Two.months ago. Bob looks great for being dead.
Crazy teachers have unions and are everywhere now.
The real crazies are the moms for liberty types disrupting school boards and banning books
No kidding.
