I just got a brand new set of duratracs, 10 ply and I love them. They get such amazing traction. Such a better ride quality than the stupid general grabber. HTS60 tires that I used to have on the truck. I have a 2020 custom trail boss and now my truck can finally properly off-road. I also love that. I don't have any off-road modes. I don't have any screens showing the articulation. I don't have any of that technology. It is such a beautiful, simple creature man, I love having a V8. It's only a 5.3, but I've made about muffler mod, and a few other little things to boost its torque to a little over 400 foot-pounds. That's enough power for me. My buddy has the big 6.2, and that thing is a rocket ship.
I remember really wanting a Rebel 3 years ago, but I refuse to give Stellantis/Ram more of my money after selling my 2021 1500 2 months ago with all the electrical, leaks AND transmission issues I had with it.
What leaks did you have? My last Ram was a 2012 and the back window leaked as if it wasn't there. Between that and transmission issues as well I swore off Ram indefinitely.
My 2017's cab was leaking in the rear, it was the cabin vents not the window or brake light, replaced then for less than 50 bucks no other issues to speak of

Back in the dark ages, with my 1st edition/87 Nissan Pathfinder, one day I decided to replace the stock Dunlop tires with some Goodyear Mud Terrains, the exact same tire that was on the military Hummer. I think it still is. But in the MS mud, what an eye opener. Soddenly that Pathfinder would go straight up a muddy hill in 2WD that it previously struggled on in 4WD(no lockers, open dif front and rear). Pros and cons of course, as those tires would have probably sucked on ice and maybe snow, and did suck on the HWY. At least as far as noise goes. But boy would they throw some mud and move that Pathfinder forward, often not even needing 4WD!
I've been happily surprised on steep muddy / clay hills. If the wheels are spinning fast enough they shed the mud and keep gripping well. If you slow down or pause, they can get gummed up and you will be headed down backwards. They didn't give the RAM 400+ hp to slow crawl in mud...pedal down.
The inline 6 has been liked by different youtube suggested videos where mechanics have worked on this engine. Only issue found is thermostat failures and questionable engine seals along with worries on what else stellantis has cheaped on. I think the major failure of this engine will be cheap parts due to constant corporate greed. Great vid.
It's not the manufacturer's fault about pricing, they will keep going up as long as people are buying. If people quit buying the prices will have absolutely no choice but to come down. I see no more than $55,000 in that truck.
I have a 2020 custom trail boss with the same tires. Goodyear wrangler duratrac LT and I've gone through beach sand I've gone through one and a 1/2 foot deep mud ruts, my truck does fine going through it, you just have to be a little bold with the accelerator and power right through it. You can't go slow in mud, but i've had zero issues with my tires and honestly, if you get a more aggressive tire, then that you are going to be making some serious compromises on your on road driving experience.
With Canada on the verge of a major economic crisis I can’t see how this price could sell the truck. I’m predicting that they will be sitting on the lots for a very long time regardless of how good it is off road etc. great driving by the way, I would be nervous too!

Front end looks like a tradesman, Ram really cut corners on the new Rebel. Any truck wouldve done the same thing in that mud, you gotta keep the pedal down and use momentum.
@ The point is that with 11550lbs of towing you need 1155 lbs of tongue weight. Plus you have to add to the payload the weight of a WDH if it’s heavier than 65lbs(calculated with J2807). My husky center line ts WDH weight 100lbs so remove 35lbs of payload. So if you want to tow 11550lbs the driver can only weight 150lbs and have no luggage what so ever or passenger.

My point is that this is a light duty vehicle so makes sense it has (relatively) light duty capacities. Some other trims from the same model line up might be more accommodating in that respect though, so will depend on what the customer prefers their vehicle to do or be.
I used my Ram in low 4x4 with diff lock on to tow a big trailer across a meadow filled with mud and hog damage. You could totally tell that’s what it was made for. When it gets narrow in the trees, that’s not where you want to be driving a ranch truck.
The Hemi wasn't just iconic in name. It was a very durable engine. I've had two Ram 1500s with the 5.7 Hemi, going 100K miles on each. Zero problems, perfectly reliable. I very much doubt that a half-as-big twin turbo engine will do that good over the long haul.
There must be a ton of options on that truck. I see the Rebel starting at 71678(CAD) with the current incentives on build and price. I think I’d go for the 8k cheaper off roader package if I was in the market. The rebel has become pretty pricey for what it is.
I hate to tell you but it's not the tires, Rams 4X4 system sucks. Just last week on a different channel "of course" they tested this Ram, the Chevrolet Trail Boss, & the Ford Tremor, and the Ram was the only one of the three that could not climb a rocky hill & it's articulation was really bad also. Probably because of the airbags. I'll bet you if you go & get a Chevy or Ford they would do a lot better.
I don't know how much I would blame the duratracs here.. Im not a super fan of goodyear either but I've ran them before and they handle mud, sand, loose rock just fine. They need a tiny bit of momentum but I lean more into thinking this is a truck issue. Weight distribution, wheelbase, and articulation. Edmunds did a decent comparison of the trail boss, tremor, and rebel and the rebel just cant keep up with the others. I think they are due for a redesign as the new power trains are okay but the overall form factor seems to be holding this truck back. Also not a RAM/stellanits hater, I own a gladiator.
I am a Ford guy, but I really like what RAM is trying to accomplish with their trucks. Ford dominates the Baja series and has been doing well in NASCAR. You gain a lot of info from racing. RAM / Dodge does neither. They need to step it up if they want to compete with Ford and GM.
Not saying one is any better than the other... but i work in the back country of the Canadian rockies... own a 2022 loaded ram classic warlock (bought new)... hemi, 392 rear end, BFG tires..all stock other than tires.... take this thing places most people wouldn't dream of (because of work)... not one problem with this truck... considering i paid less than 50 grand Canadian with tax and fees in... no way im going to replace with whats going to be a 90 thousand + dollar truck (Canadian) with taxes and fees... and GIVE THAT AIR SUSPENSION A TRY IN MINUS 30-40 CANADIAN WINTERS AND SEE HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT... Nice truck to look at... but way to much $.

Did you have to typical 55/45 psi in the tires that the truck calls for? That’s probably the only thing that I don’t love about my rebel. Makes traction crappy with that much psi in the tires.
I completely agree with you, sir. I have a 5.3 custom trail boss and I was able to scoop it up for 40 grand. That's a whole lot better. Then 76000 the dealership is probably gonna mark it up to 78. And on top of that, the custom trim is so much more simple than this Ram. I don't have any off-road modes. I don't have any fancy screens. Just Android Auto and a speedometer and actual gages That's the kind of truck I like. The beauty is in the simplicity.
These overpriced behemoths will always sell. ALWAYS. There will always be dips in sales numbers across the board, but they WILL sell. I ain't gonna buy a new one ever at these prices, even if I can afford it. I'll wait for a sucker to trade a nice one in, and swoop in for a great deal. Well known tip: if you can, buy these in a mall crawler district, because you'll know they weren't beat up or ever used for their intended purposes. Me, being in the low country of NC (SE inner banks), I just need something that is good in mud, gravel, and high water. I need to be able to travel the low country thru water after a hurricane or big thunderstorm hits to check on family and help neighbors out, dragging downed trees out the way of paths and roads. Basically, actually use the truck as intended. Us down here rarely buy a truck and not actually use it for truck stuff, we're too poor. The used car dealerships around here are BIGGER than the actual new car dealerships, but they're usually owned by the new car dealerships. Kinda makes me think there's a racket going on. New car dealerships sell em, take em back in trade and sell em lightly used with 10k miles (basically a demo model) and then charge what they should have charged in the first place. I’m not going to bitch about price anymore. People get what they vote for and over the last 4 years, we voted for this. I’m not even going to bitch about the lack of a manual transmission. That ship has sailed. The mega corporations have decided that North Americans don’t need them anymore. But how how about offering a version of this truck (and ALL trucks) that delete the electronic nannies, over complicated suspensions, TV screens and power ashtrays, and just give me lockers and a drive train & suspension that follows MY inputs and does what I want? Don’t lower my suspension when I’m heavy on the gas off road. That’s when I need clearance the most. Don’t cut power when I contact an obstacle, that’s when I need it the most. When my vehicle responds to what MY brain is telling it, I don’t have to worry about how different manufacturers ‘program’ them. And maybe if they deleted all that crap I just mentioned, these trucks could be about 20k cheaper. But where’s the profit in that, right?
Man, this video was very aggravating when he got in that mud. Once you get in that kind of mud and your tires cake up like that you cannot baby it like that! This truck has problems. 11000lbs of towing and 1300lbs payload? So you can only have the driver in the truck? Sorry family, if you want to go camping , you'll have to take a second vehicle. This truck has Bilstien 4600s , that is not an upgrade, those are equal monro shocks, not fancy. The Duratrac tire, it doesn't exist anymore. It was Replaced by the Duratrac RT, which is NOT the same tire. These orginal Duratrac has been discontinued for close to 2 years now. Did RAM has a ton of these sitting in a warehouse getting rock hard? Also good luck of you get a puncture , the new RT looks nothing like the old Duratrac and the tread blocks are way different.
I see no problems necessarily with those aspects. It's a mid-trim light duty family truckster. If any one of those things needs to be "better" there are different models or trims to suit that.
@ALMX5DP My Trailboss has 1700lbs of payload, and it's a direct competitor. This past summer I did an offroad camping trip, with my wife 2 kids a dog and camping gear in the bed. We hit a scale on the way as the truck bed was completely full. I had 1500lbs loaded on the truck. This Rebel can't even do that. That's a problem. It certainly can't tow the claimed 11 000lbs safely either.
@ sure some vehicles will excel in some aspects over others. The Ram certainly could do that, just not technically legally. Not sure what you mean with your safely comment though. It’s rated for what it is rated for under the same SAE guidelines as everyone else.
@ALMX5DP Meaning the low pay load makes putting a theoretical 1100 on the truck dangerous as many trailers aren't actually balanced so 10% is on the tounge. I have a 7600lbs travel trailer, it has a tongue weight of 900lbs stamped right on the side of the trailer. An 11k trailer could over load that RAM with the low payload.
@ sounds more like a problem with the customer and their set up and balancing than anything inherent with the pickup. Saying there is a possibility to overload is different from saying there is an issue with the product itself in terms of what it’s rated for. My F-150 has a 2060lb payload and does fine towing while also loaded 4-5 occupants and cargo in it, but that doesn’t mean there is an issue with other trucks just because they don’t have that same rating.
I have to admit, I'm a Huge Ram fan, butt his new direction turns me right off. I dont like the new look and dont like the the V6. That Rebel looks cheap. The mags and tires are awful! Who puts white lettering on tires anymore?! Especially on an all black truck?

275/70r18 is a 33 but with the weight of the truck it could use more tire. 285/75r18 or i would move to 295/65r20

I am a Ford guy, but I really like what RAM is trying to accomplish with their trucks. Ford dominates the Baja series and has been doing well in NASCAR. You gain a lot of info from racing. RAM / Dodge does neither. They need to step it up if they want to compete with Ford and GM.
several times i noticed that both front wheels were spinning like there was a front locker , is there one or does it have a limited slip front dif ?
Not saying one is any better than the other... but i work in the back country of the Canadian rockies... own a 2022 loaded ram classic warlock (bought new)... hemi, 392 rear end, BFG tires..all stock other than tires.... take this thing places most people wouldn't dream of (because of work)... not one problem with this truck... considering i paid less than 50 grand Canadian with tax and fees in... no way im going to replace with whats going to be a 90 thousand + dollar truck (Canadian) with taxes and fees... and GIVE THAT AIR SUSPENSION A TRY IN MINUS 30-40 CANADIAN WINTERS AND SEE HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT...

When will someone make an off-road truck with a full bed? Some of us want a pickup truck and the off-road goodies and looks.
Makes the wheelbase too long, which makes it less off-roady due to clearances. You can modify a 4x4 long bed and make it your own off road monster.
Disgusting prices, but plenty of ppl will stick it on their business, as if they needed an off road truck. 95% of ppl don't buy it with their own money, they get business discounts, tax reduction, income tax reduction and put it as a business expense despite using it as a personal vehicle. 😑 they will still sell and sadly no one overseeing these companies and verifying for abuse.
In Quebec, not sure bout rest of Canada, you can tell by looking at license plate starting with the letter F and G, it means it's either government, rental, and business. Unless the truck a 12 year old model or older, it never starts with an other letter. 😅 Ppl can't afford to put those payments on their own paychecks.

Did you have to typical 55/45 psi in the tires that the truck calls for? That’s probably the only thing that I don’t love about my rebel. Makes traction crappy with that much psi in the tires.

@ Had a Rebel with the dial shifter, Lack of paddles and the tiny steering buttons are terrible, We all love and miss the HEMI
You can get a center shifter option.

Last year I looked at the Rebel or Trail Boss. Trail Boss was an easy sell with the diesel and 15k less.
I completely agree with you, sir. I have a 5.3 custom trail boss and I was able to scoop it up for 40 grand. That's a whole lot better. Then 76000 the dealership is probably gonna mark it up to 78. And on top of that, the custom trim is so much more simple than this Ram. I don't have any off-road modes. I don't have any fancy screens. Just Android Auto and a speedometer and actual gages
That's the kind of truck I like. The beauty is in the simplicity.

Pricing aside, I think Ram makes some of the nicest trucks, but I would not want to own one outside of the warranty period.

These overpriced behemoths will always sell. ALWAYS. There will always be dips in sales numbers across the board, but they WILL sell. I ain't gonna buy a new one ever at these prices, even if I can afford it. I'll wait for a sucker to trade a nice one in, and swoop in for a great deal. Well known tip: if you can, buy these in a mall crawler district, because you'll know they weren't beat up or ever used for their intended purposes. Me, being in the low country of NC (SE inner banks), I just need something that is good in mud, gravel, and high water. I need to be able to travel the low country thru water after a hurricane or big thunderstorm hits to check on family and help neighbors out, dragging downed trees out the way of paths and roads. Basically, actually use the truck as intended. Us down here rarely buy a truck and not actually use it for truck stuff, we're too poor. The used car dealerships around here are BIGGER than the actual new car dealerships, but they're usually owned by the new car dealerships. Kinda makes me think there's a racket going on. New car dealerships sell em, take em back in trade and sell em lightly used with 10k miles (basically a demo model) and then charge what they should have charged in the first place. They literally have lots called "Bob's Used Cars," etc., up the street that they own. Double dipping. Why the heck am I rambling? I'll see myself out now. 😅😂

I’m not going to bitch about price anymore. People get what they vote for and over the last 4 years, we voted for this.
I’m not even going to bitch about the lack of a manual transmission. That ship has sailed. The mega corporations have decided that North Americans don’t need them anymore.
But how how about offering a version of this truck (and ALL trucks) that delete the electronic nannies, over complicated suspensions, TV screens and power ashtrays, and just give me lockers and a drive train & suspension that follows MY inputs and does what I want?
Don’t lower my suspension when I’m heavy on the gas off road. That’s when I need clearance the most.
Don’t cut power when I contact an obstacle, that’s when I need it the most. When my vehicle responds to what MY brain is telling it, I don’t have to worry about how different manufacturers ‘program’ them.
And maybe if they deleted all that crap I just mentioned, these trucks could be about 20k cheaper.
But where’s the profit in that, right?
Man, this video was very aggravating when he got in that mud. Once you get in that kind of mud and your tires cake up like that you cannot baby it like that! You have to put the pedal down and spin the hell out of those tires and clean that mud out of them! Anyone who has driven in enough mud should know this, especially this guy!

This truck has problems. 11000lbs of towing and 1300lbs payload? So you can only have the driver in the truck? Sorry family, if you want to go camping , you'll have to take a second vehicle.
This truck has Bilstien 4600s , that is not an upgrade, those are equal monro shocks, not fancy.
The Duratrac tire, it doesn't exist anymore. It was Replaced by the Duratrac RT, which is NOT the same tire. These orginal Duratrac has been discontinued for close to 2 years now. Did RAM has a ton of these sitting in a warehouse getting rock hard?
Also good luck of you get a puncture , the new RT looks nothing like the old Duratrac and the tread blocks are way different.
I see no problems necessarily with those aspects. It's a mid-trim light duty family truckster. If any one of those things needs to be "better" there are different models or trims to suit that.
@ALMX5DP My Trailboss has 1700lbs of payload, and it's a direct competitor. This past summer I did an offroad camping trip, with my wife 2 kids a dog and camping gear in the bed. We hit a scale on the way as the truck bed was completely full. I had 1500lbs loaded on the truck.
This Rebel can't even do that. That's a problem. It certainly can't tow the claimed 11 000lbs safely either.
@ sure some vehicles will excel in some aspects over others. The Ram certainly could do that, just not technically legally. Not sure what you mean with your safely comment though. It’s rated for what it is rated for under the same SAE guidelines as everyone else.
@ALMX5DP Meaning the low pay load makes putting a theoretical 1100 on the truck dangerous as many trailers aren't actually balanced so 10% is on the tounge. I have a 7600lbs travel trailer, it has a tongue weight of 900lbs stamped right on the side of the trailer.
An 11k trailer could over load that RAM with the low payload.
@ sounds more like a problem with the customer and their set up and balancing than anything inherent with the pickup. Saying there is a possibility to overload is different from saying there is an issue with the product itself in terms of what it’s rated for. My F-150 has a 2060lb payload and does fine towing while also loaded 4-5 occupants and cargo in it, but that doesn’t mean there is an issue with other trucks just because they don’t have that same rating.
I have to admit, I'm a Huge Ram fan, butt his new direction turns me right off.
I dont like the new look and dont like the the V6. That Rebel looks cheap. The mags and tires are awful! Who puts white lettering on tires anymore?! Especially on an all black truck?

@@FunkMasterJunk on paper an inline 6 is a better cylinder configuration compared to a v6. They're easier to work on and tend to be more reliable.
ANYTHING is better than the Hemi. It had design flaws built in for decades and they did nothing about it. Not to mention transmissions built to fail.
The ZF transmissions have been great!
