    Photography is a form of record-keeping for the generations that arrive after we leave; much like the cave paintings by our early ancestors, or the ancient Egyptians and their hieroglyphics. There is something innately important about preserving our past and giving it immortality. As a Christian, I always loved the expression "His Story [history]", but it is as much "Her Story" as well.

      leicanoct there plenty of photographers that did shoot film in the very yearly days of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

    • @oJ862
      @oJ862 3 года назад +2

      @leicanoct sorry for being pendantic but most professional photographers would have shot film up until the mid 2000s, or at least a hybrid between film and digital. There were no digital cameras that produced acceptable images in the 90s. The only 'digital' cameras until the late 90s were cameras that operated in a similar manner to a vcr and they were used only by news papers.

    • @oJ862
      @oJ862 3 года назад +1

      @leicanoct 2.7mp is still doesn't compare to 35mm film. It's acceptable for press coverage and breaking news, but I not for documentation. When did you stop using the your canon and what was your field of work, if you don't mind me asking (just curious).

    • @oJ862
      @oJ862 3 года назад

      @leicanoct Was convenience the driving factor or was digital just the zeitgeist at the time? The cost of film would surely have been cheaper, considering how expensive memory and even the digital bodies were at the time.

We are still your neighbors and care, but remember we all have felt and seen things that change your perspective.

    Her photographs are technically very well done, her subjects beautiful and I enjoy looking at them, I watched her masterclass and it was interesting and fun-so never any shade on her for celebrity photos-I wouldn’t want to buy/own any of them.
    A portrait that I consider worth having is Alison Baskerville’s Ross and Sharpie (Afghanistan, 2011) that’s a beautiful photograph of a young soldier and dog. Anyone interested check her out on Vice her on RUclips.

    So much respect for these people. Without them we would never even come close to having a eye into what war is really like.

    I love her soothing voice. Women with british accents are the best
