We sit down with the photographer and New York Times bestseller, well known for covering some of the toughest contemporary topics, to talk life, death and journalistic truth in a time of Trump.

We want the old Vice back with these type of contents ... Not the insta influencer, Six pack surgery stuff
I like a mix myself, you don't have to watch the ones you don't like, at least that's my thinking on it. I skip lots of videos from the channels I subscribe to, after a minute or less, or don't watch at all. From all kinds of different sources, news science, music etc...
@@mmmk1616 could not relate more
Its like buzzfeed at the moment
Every single video is people bitching and moaning about this shit. They still do this kinda stuff, the never stopped you whiny bitch.
And the dildo and drugs stuff.
She’s an incredibly strong person respect to her
This job deserves more credit and should be more appreciated
26sanchez tony me is shooketh and very spooketh
Marvell Alvaro Darmawan what they deserve is a right to defend themselves with a pistol or rifle fuck I wouldn’t go anywhere like that without level 4 armor and a urgi Glock 21 and a combat load
@Creepy joe Taking my daily EDC with me 😳😎
@@TheAsianOfChaos that’s heavy, bulky, and a pain in the rear. You move more quickly and easily without it. This isn’t stateside civilian area or swat team op against only 2 bank robbers. Turtle armor and a single shot hobby gun is just going to be useless and get you killed faster.
@@TheAsianOfChaos as a war reporter, they’re protected under the Geneva convention under civilian identity. If they were holding a firearm or participated in combat, it revokes that status of civilian and whoever you spot will classify you as an enemy. So it’s not wise to carry a gun if you’re a war corespondent or reporter. It’s one of the risk you have to be willing to take, and why I respect this profession so much
War time journalists are a necessity, they should be thanked and honored for their bravery.
Yes they are needed but our vets should be thanked more
@@TexasLegionaryGuard oh ok then.
@ Why do you think the army will deploy even 1 person to protect them if their is stupid? Or are you saying the armies themselves are stupid?

What a blessing she still here to share her stories with us.
Her mother prays for her everynight
I’ve heard she is one of those reporters that the boots love. She doesn’t slow anyone down, carries her own weight, and overall seems to fit in. One of the best reporters of our time.
Where did you hear that?
for a second i thought you were referring to HER boots, since they look good on her

Big respect for journalists/reporters who go out into these dangerous fields!
Wow. I don’t even have the courage to answer the phone when a number I don’t recognize calls.
Because you are a victim of scare tactics done by your corrupt government to keep you manipulated. That's how they sell you stuff and make you believe bullshit about other countries.
@@TheGoodContent37 that went from 0-100 real quick

I don't either because more than 99 percent of them are scams.

She a real one
That mother dying is heartbreaking... she probably didn't go in expecting it to be the last day of her life... and the poor kid will grow up without a Mum...
Although the culture and other stuff vice covers can be interesting, I think that more content like this would be appreciated by the community

@@mecklenburgreviews9520 ok bro
5:32 that photo is the best imo
2:14 dude that was shot looks to have a fentanyl lollipop in his mouth. yes the army uses them.
Rob C imma have to take one of those
Rob C Just in, Case of Fentanyl Lollipops somehow made its way to a Daycare in Florida
I’ve never heard of that could u please explain? Also what are they used for?
@@grungeisdead9541 Fentanyl is a powerful opioid used for pain and surgery. It comes in many forms, mostly transdermal patches for skin use, but it is also made into lollipops because the walls of your mouth are really good at absorbing fentanyl fast. In the picture, the army men have seemingly been shot or injured and have been given fentanyl lollipops. One has one in his mouth and one has one in the background. You can tell it is a fentanyl lollipop because the stick coming off of it has a wider cylinder at the distal end.
Knee Grouse the fentanyl lollipop is also wrapped around the casualty’s finger so when the person with it passes out it falls out of his mouth and prevents an overdose
Remarkable person, incredible story.
I LOVED this and the photos left me wanting to see more. The one with the soldier carrying the one that's been shot was just beautiful
That sierra leone story is sadly quite typical in hospitals in subsaharan africa...
She’s so captivating! I really like the angles she takes of her photos. It adds an additional dramatic feel.
Amazing; would have been nice to actually explore a bit more the two times she has been kidnapped as the title suggests otherwise it is just clickbait.
As a photographer myself, Lynsey is one of my favorite photographers ever.
Incredible photos, you are an incredibly brave person.
What an amazing woman! Her photos are stunning, she really has a good eye for it. I honestly don't know if I could do what she has done, just amazing.
Her own perspective on her work is very interesting.
You can still see the shock on her face!
Just wrote out a paper on her for a class, great to see her here
Thank you for all your work, Jennifer.... What you do is vital and important.
I recall being told a story from a pilot who emptied their jets in that valley more than once

The photographs were amazing. "Perfect" composition.
she is one badass reporter.

thank you for uploading this!
Vice. This is the kind of shit we want to see. Keep covering this. This is why we love you
You realize that if this were true and she was in a war zone and actually got kid napped ahe would have been raped and killed . No female get kidnapped twice In a war zone. Does 2+2=4 in your world?

You lucky you still here to talk about it..
The people captured in Iraq were Hung from a bridge initially igniting the War..
R.I.P.....🙏
@ItchyPilauBoto808
Yeah one was from the island's I know this case well..These weren't some Bad ruthless mercenaries the media painted. These were soldiers looking for better life. They're co-workers actions wasn't justified after but I believe most people seeing there friends hung & burnt like that would spark retaliation like that in anyone!🙏
We brought a war to Iraq for what happened to those solders..but President Trump pardons the pieces of shit who committed war crimes. Watching our morals and values being shifted and exposed is horrifying... a life is a life in all circumstances. What is not sustainable is being brought to light. No matter what her reasoning, she is bringing the truth to light and staring life at at its rawest in the face. Great woman
I mourn their deaths. Because Iraq was a useless war
Sgt. Rugel's image is crazy. The environment looks just like any area in the world, yet it's there that he was killed, in a conflict no one wants to fight for and for which there is no end in sight.
The same interview but with Simon Ostrovsky please! :D
wait? so she was the one shooting footage of "Into the Hornets nest" because in that doc You can clearly
see the body of Sgt. Ryan Rugle
Pretty sure that was a father/son team If I'm not mistaken
Why is this video so quiet?
Her reasoning for going there pregnant was kinda weird. She can choose to not do it, the pregnant women there can't. That's a luxury that should be taken advantage of. No need to play the martyr
These are some powerful questions.
Incredible lady, incrdible story.
Smart, they put the trump part at the end so the trumpers would watch
Josh James bruh you gotta make everything divided? Shut the fuck up
NXT Blast you think that was by chance... this a super liberal media outlet
I've immense respect for the lady &her kind🎉
This was a good one Vice.
Wait moving her would have made her bleed out faster . wouldn't the best plan have been to leave her there with pressure on the wound until the doctor got there. rather than stretching open any cuts?
You cant put pressure on that kind of wound
Keep the good shit coming! This was gold.

Join the military. I wish I did. Instead I stayed in my small town joined the volunteer fire department and farmed on the family farm. I really feel like I missed out. I'm now 31 with 4 kids. I'm still Thinking about joining the reserves. Even though I see buddies come back different. IDK I can't help the feeling I could have done more with my life...
You don't even have to join the military if you don't want. I recommend not doing it that way for the main reason that you'll get to own and keep and your photos and be able to release the truth of what you've seen instead of al of your shit automatically belonging to the government. More freedom too. Shoot whenever you want.
I forgot the exact term, but you can get a special type of guide to take you into certain areas to document that no one else has accces to.
It's called a "fixer!" Get in contact with a fixer to shoot combat and shit
I got chills within the first 10 seconds, bruh moment
Great video, straight up and no bullshit
More of the vice stories i subscribed for nice
I would love to be an investigative reporter or a war correspondent but I'm way too high maintenance to be kidnapped. I would die after the first night if the kidnappers didn't already kill me..
VICE is back.
I just turned 18 and I want to be a vice reporter and make documentaries on stuff. For example the “Actavisa” Mexican lean interview video got no info but I got knowledge of a lot due to my past. I’ve changed now but I’d hate for all the dumb things I did, learned, and experienced to be for nothing. Hire me plz I’m in Culver City CA lol
Yo she was sent into a warzone pregnant!?! Who let that happen lol.
She mentioned that she had an issue with editors who didn’t want to send her out because for the reason that she’s a woman/mother/age/pregnant. So she obviously advocated for herself to go on that assignment.
I stumbled on this interview. I saw many freelance journalists during my time in Iraq and Afghanistan. I always tell them "We're not the ones going to rescue you if you get into trouble. That's the 'D' boys or 'Tier 1' guys job, not ours..." D boys are USSF Delta or Tier 1, the Navy's SEAL Teams. I was right 50% of the time... Many were kidnapped and only half were rescued or 'recovered.'
