JURY CHOSEN IN ONE DAY. 20 jurors have been selected in WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse. 9 men and 11 women. (8 are alternates)
Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 26, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz, 27. Prosecutors say that Rittenhouse, then 17 and from Illinois, was a vigilante looking for a fight. He, like other right-wingers, went to Kenosha, Wisconsin ostensibly to protect property. This happened as protests over police shooting local man Jacob Blake turned violent. Rittenhouse’s attorneys assert he was acting in self-defense. This case became a cause célèbre among conservatives.
Prosecutors have struggled in court, failing to introduce evidence of prior aggressive behavior. This included evidence showing him attacking a woman who was in an altercation with his sister. The other is that he was closely linked to the violent, far-right Proud Boys organization.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder said an appellate court would reverse him if he allowed these in trial. The evidence was too prejudicial, he said. He left it up in the air whether he would allow footage showing someone identified as Rittenhouse discussing a Black man exiting a CVS pharmacy. Rittenhouse believed the man was shoplifting.

That wouldn't be very good for virtue signaling. These people are far more interested in pushing their BS dogma than they are protecting their constituents and upholding the rule of law.
The police objective is first and foremost to control the crowd and in so doing, protect property. If they have enough assets, they arrest people breaking the law. I believe they did not think they had many assets because when Kyle told an officer he had just killed someone, they did not arrest him, they told him to go home. They were just trying to get people off the streets.
If they did that they would have to drop the case their prosecuting and everyone knows DA's are never wrong. Look how arrogant it made Kamala Harris being a government attorney all those years with no accountability to anything. That's how these people are. If it was a liberal judge he would've ready been convicted.

No, the prosecution said several times they were prosecuting people, and he said their names and offenses. Arson, being one, and another act that was about destruction. They prosecute what they can prove. But they names them in examinations and in closing arguments.

The second guy was hitting him in the head with a skateboard and kicking him in the head. Bicep guy ran after him with a gun and eventually pointed it at Kyle's head. That was clearly shown on video. The first guy (sorry I get the names confused) wasn't armed and from what I can make out was 1-2 feet away from him when Kyle shot him. My boyfriend said he saw that the guy actually was closer and grabbed his gun before Kyle shot. Imo Kyle should be cleared of all charges for the shooting of the second and third people. The first one is a bit iffy imo. I can see how people think that shooting was self defense. I can also see how people may think it was not. I do believe Kyle when he says he was afraid for his life that night. He should'nt have been there though along with everyone else. Going out to the riots was just asking for trouble. Kyle is just a kid though and kids don't always make the best decisions. I really hope his life isn't ruined over this and I hope bicep guy doesn't see that $10 million.

The sadness of all of this is that not one of these guys would have been there if the protesters hadn't burned every single car in one of the lots the previous night. It is pretty sickening, when the police can't or aren't allowed to control rioters, and business owners have to put themselves at risk to protect their livelihood.

Why didn't they subpoena the call records from the car dealership and its staff as well as the witnesses claiming they were called asking for help. Dealership is scared they gonna get sued so they're lying through their teeth.
I wondered about that to, the only thing I came up with is that it is not that pertinent. Even if they prove conclusively that the car salesmen lied (shock) it would not have any impact on the question of self defence. Also the salesmen were shown to lie about the insurance. Did anyone really believe an inventory manager has no idea of cost, profit and loss. So he just buys cars, does not no how much they cost to purchase and prepare? I'd say probably not. I've watched every minute of this trial and right now, I have a very sour opinion of the prosecution. They're coming off as pompous bullies, self important stuffed shirts, and definitely leaning into the realm of witness tampering and badgering the witnesses. If WE see that, imagine what the jury thinks. After all, they're being forced to sit there for 8 hours a day listening to this ridiculous crap. So. The car source guys insurance won't cover damage from riots, looting etc, so they call up some guys to help guard the place. Then after the shooting, the car source guys realize they are civilly liable for the shooting if it is found unlawful by Rittenhouse and suddenly "forget" and "don't remember" asking anyone to help come guard their properties. About the gist of it ?

I drove through Kenosha a couple days ago to this area. Strange. Such a small seemingly benign town. This entire area is very small. From the civic center to car source would be an 8 min walk. One could throw a football from the parking lot of car source to 64th st & Sheridan rd where the main confrontation occurred.
Makes one wonder why the cops were not given the resources to break it all up before it turned into this instead of standing down and letting fire and vandalism occur.

If they really wanted to press a perjury charge they could but the state would have to press charges. In this case the state likes what they said. I can only surmise they lied because they didn’t want any liability for the death.
Yes the lies effect the testimony by the brothers. The jury will take the liars testimony with a grain of salt. Knowing they were telling lies to save themselves from potential lawsuits. It surprises me that the only conclusion you can come to is that he's trying to confuse the jurors with his line of questioning. At the very least I'd think it would be obvious that his questions are to highlight Kyle's motivation for his decisions and how he had the option to leave an unsafe situation many times throughout the night.
