If gaming is your focus, then it’s definitely not the right machine. It’s for more than just students though. A lot of people use their machines just for media or browsing the web or word processing, etc... Chromebooks are great for those people.

I completely agree with this review. I bought it passing through Germany, ran in, bought it AND REGRETTED IT. It is so slow on almost every application. You name it, it was slow. I needed it for basic e-mail, web, and who would be able to use this laptop is beyond me. A complete waste of money and frankly Lenovo should be embarassed to sell it. Thanks for accurate review.
Hey Garry, if you still have it then you may want to consider putting Linux on it. I have Kubuntu on it now and it’s a whole different experience. Still not stellar performance, but completely usable now.
I did agree just put a USB or something in the side it nice Laptop it ok for me what I need for am not working so I find this one under £199 on black Friday sell and easy to use if you put windows 11 on from 10 also works better also
Tempted to buy this laptop and put Linux on it. I barely use my x230 (and I only use it for light stuff anyway when I do). Would be nice though having something lighter for when I do use a laptop with the better battery life. Previously owned the 100s and 110s laptops before Lenovo decided to change the naming scheme, which I also liked.
I'd love to see a used computer buying guide with your perspective. I know they're offering a lot of old models with WIndows 10 in a low of places, including "renewed" and refurbished versions. They seem to have mixed results.
I think you would've gotten much better results if you chose the AMD Athlon Silver 3020e model. On passmark, the A6-9220e doesn't even reach a CPU rating of 1,000, it only is 968, whereas the 3020e has a rating of 2,652, which is a 174% increase. Even the second most powerful processor, and the one that's most common for laptops at this price point, the Intel Celeron N4020, has a 68% decrease in performance to the 3020e, with a score of 1629 in passmark, so I think the difference would've been massive compared to the A6 model you reviewed.
I was trying to decide between a basic chrome book or this laptop for school work and emails, I think I’ll go with the chrome book based on this review and a few others, and in my opinion I think a chrome book would be better for me anyways, thanks for the great review!
It's not a gaming machine, it's for students to run word. I just got one for £120($170) and runs perfectly for coursework and browsing. Couldn't even get a 5yr old laptop on ebay with this size screen for this price and it came with a full warranty so happy days.

I have this laptop, and it performs very well, the storage is small but I have some 128GB USB’s, and it is a bit slow. But everything else is very good

Arsenal will probably run at 10-20 fps probably less. and phantom forces will not even be playable because the laptop is so bad. I dont really recommend it.

I like the idea of wiping which I thought about long ago. I was hoping to wipe it and load Windows 7. Would really appreciate your advice on how to wipe Windows 10 and comment on loading 7 instead of Linux.
Windows 7 is not supported on these newer laptops, the bootloader is just not designed for newer UEFIs and there are no drivers for it, so it'll crash upon boot. You can probably use grub or the windows 10 efi bootloader and somehow make the drivers work on windows 7 and side load it with nlite, but that would require both the technical expertise and a shitload of time in your part.
I would reccomend you to just follow this tutorial to optimize windows 10 ruclips.net/video/IU5F01oOzQQ/видео.html My machine now only consumes ~600mb of ram on idle and it's just much lighter overall.

It's not possible, both it's eMMC memory and it's RAM are soldered into the motherboard, for storage maybe you would like to buy either a 1 TB USB or an external hard drive

@eevnos You can add a m.2 drive. Look at the video around 2:02. To the right side of the battery there are standoff screws for the m.2 and right above it and to the right of the cmos battery, is the m.2 slot
Hey, thanks for the comment. I know what you're talking about and it looks like there SHOULD be an M.2 slot to the right of the CMOS battery, there's even the pins for it so on some version of this board it may have it, but this machine does not have the slot.

I bought this not realizing what shit I had bought so mostly I did not use it. They had a recent update and the system is running so much better. The browser is no longer lagging like crazy. For what I use it for which office and the browser. I can watch my shows easily now.
I am teacher so the word app is running smoothly, before I would be typing and nothing would type would not show up until what felt like about a minute. Even RUclips was slow but now. Good improvement. I still would not recommend this. But it can handle my usage now. So if you already have it turn it on and boot it up now there will be an update and after the update shut it down the laptop for about 24 hours and then it functions fine

Wow I was gonna get this for school but when we went to look at the display in best buy the brightness was not working, I could not type anything cause the keys weren’t working either and it was being really unresponsive. Cheap laptops aren’t always the way to go.

Windows 10 is simply too heavy for this little one. Swap to Cloudready and change it into a chromebook. Or even better, find yourself a light Linux Distro and you will be more than suprised with this Bad Boy. I bought it for around £175 (215 USD?). On Windows 10 it was almost impossible to open a RUclips video. Two tabs in Chrome was painful... I swapped to Cloudready and after that to Linux Mint Mate. RUclips in the background + libreoffice + 10 firefox tabs? No problem at all... The only problem is that you cant do anything with the guts...
@@zero4414 hey there. To get cloudready, google neverware and follow the instruction. For linux distros, use any bootable USB software and get something like Lubuntu, Linux Mint or Bodhi. Some bad news for you, this bad boy is deffo not for gaming :D

I have a Lenovo with an Intel 3350 and 2 gigs of ram. Lol. And it works. Slow as fudge but meh. Just got the 2022 midel with the Intel n4020 and still not bad.
If u get a few applications it can help with the heat and u have to use it a few times to get java working i have this laptop away somewhere and used it a few times and it was fast and never overheated and its fast for java if u use it a few times

It's good for school, Web browsing, watching videos, movies, etc. Also you could do SOME light gaming such as minecraft, roblox, among us etc.

The 3020e model is perfectly fine for basic use. But this A6 is only for very very basic use and for people that have lots of patience.

It's not possible, both it's eMMC memory and it's RAM are soldered into the motherboard, for storage maybe you would like to buy either a 1 TB USB or an external hard drive

@eevnos You can add a m.2 drive. Look at the video around 2:02. To the right side of the battery there are standoff screws for the m.2 and right above it and to the right of the cmos battery, is the m.2 slot

I know what you're talking about and it looks like there SHOULD be an M.2 slot to the right of the CMOS battery, there's even the pins for it so on some version of this board it may have it, but this machine does not have the slot.

This thing overheats like crazy, mines is in mint condition and once I started personalizing it slowed down real fast and the bottom of it started to warm up really fast

The person I suggested this for .. The person will be mostly streaming and almost like a chromebook.. Sorry but Chromebooks suck. The person is just using it for general PC use.
I bought this not realizing what shit I had bought so mostly I did not use it. They had a recent update and the system is running so much better. The browser is no longer lagging like crazy. For what I use it for which office and the browser. I can watch my shows easily now.
I am teacher so the word app is running smoothly, before I would be typing and nothing would type would not show up until what felt like about a minute. Even RUclips was slow but now. Good improvement. I still would not recommend this. But it can handle my usage now. So if you already have it turn it on and boot it up now there will be an update and after the update shut it down the laptop for about 24 hours and then it functions fine

Wow I was gonna get this for school but when we went to look at the display in best buy the brightness was not working, I could not type anything cause the keys weren’t working either and it was being really unresponsive. Cheap laptops aren’t always the way to go.
tbh, I own this laptop and I really regret it please don't buy this pc or a Chromebook because Chromebooks aren't better AT ALL so I recommend buying a used pc it's cheaper and better.
Fairly dire review. Typical , though, when someone who'se own laptop is some fairly top of the line device. At root , they have little time for inexpensive stuff, and make no allowances at all for the real needs, and wants, of those who are the likely customers.

@@Eevnos Um.., what other computers ? What I saw was you advised people to get/turn it into a Chromebook. Or else go to eBay, and buy a s/h laptop. That's not really 'mentioning other computers in the price range. If someone had wanted a Chromebook they'd probably have bought one in the first place. And presumably, if someone is looking to buy a cheap as chips $200 new machine, getting something new ( as compared to some thrashed out device on eBay ) is probably rather important to them.
As I initially implied, try being the person who would be attracted to the machine, rather than someone who likely daily uses his all singing and dancing expensive laptop,, and mentally compares this with that one.
By the way, I use a very old Vaio, it has 4Gb ram.... it runs Windows 10 just fine.

Unfortunately you can't on these computers, it's soldered to the board.
Windows 10 is simply too heavy for this little one. Swap to Cloudready and change it into a chromebook. Or even better, find yourself a light Linux Distro and you will be more than suprised with this Bad Boy. I bought it for around £175 (215 USD?). On Windows 10 it was almost impossible to open a RUclips video. Two tabs in Chrome was painful... I swapped to Cloudready and after that to Linux Mint Mate. RUclips in the background + libreoffice + 10 firefox tabs? No problem at all... The only problem is that you cant do anything with the guts...

@@zero4414 hey there. To get cloudready, google neverware and follow the instruction. For linux distros, use any bootable USB software and get something like Lubuntu, Linux Mint or Bodhi. Some bad news for you, this bad boy is deffo not for gaming :D

If u get a few applications it can help with the heat and u have to use it a few times to get java working i have this laptop away somewhere and used it a few times and it was fast and never overheated and its fast for java if u use it a few times
