he is one of those characters that my parents wanted me to see to make me understand that being "weird and different" was not a bad thing. it's really funny to see this as an adult, now diagnosed as autistic, and realize all those characters are autistic as well. I don't think my parents ever realized that before my diagnose🤣

Hahaha omg that's amazing. It's very sweet that they showed you that.

Wait my parents actually said the same they said that to me aswell when I got my diagnose with Austism I felt scared that effect my future thinking to myself I'm not smart enough that people would look past my Ausim ie they showed pictures of Einstein saying he had autism I'm an nerd for history and poltics but was refused by teachers to do it foe GCSEs as I only had one option I picked art so I would have a excuse to try and flirt and express myself creatively and yet my art then was no where good as it is now but that'd because I tried to mask and copy my freinds style to act to flirt with them then in the second to last year I combined my interest in poltics and art discovering carriature and Terry Gilham thinking of how fantastic his art was but I also thought I want job so I've done 2 years of carting ie cooking and hope to do a business course next year now my art is lot more inspired by absurdism and German expressionism in such an way I feel it is more in keeping with my philosophy to life that of its meaningless and as so make your own meaning and incorporated society to value all to bring about an society that values all in the collective not those who own everything not those who have nothing but all for arts should be the way express this desire and fear shall be it our world an new an world of international individuals intended indeed imagination Is intellect for isn't that what society goal is yes yes it us for if society is to exist it needs it individuals to walk upon it plane and gain and explore it for itself is the game of express absurdity that we call humanity shall we walk this game or starge again we might but we shall also only walk this play once make it right make it an society and future you want to live and remember this and remember well hold it tight
"Fight for what's right and be the charge you wanna see in this world!"

5:55 "so... the eye contact scene"
Yeah this sealed it for me when I watched this movie again a couple years ago. All the signs were right under my nose for a majority of my childhood and I never noticed it.
So cool to realize I actually had something in common with the protagonist from a movie I love!

    As a man with autism
    *I'm being called out*
No but seriously, almost all the things Flint does; the narraration, the sound effects, the trouble with understanding people's expressions and intentions, the idea that you have amazing ideas if only people gave you a chance, ALL those things are stuff that I'm familiar with to some extent.
I'm honestly surprised with how much I can relate to Flint and I'm even more surprised with how the movie doesn't villify him for his weirdness.

The part about Flint's lab coat being his comfort object made me realise my now lost bracelet was my comfort object. That helped me understand my specific emotions regarding losing it much more easily, so thank you for including that bit!

Watched some edited clips of Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and my first thought was: "The chances of Flint being Neuro-typical is lower than the chances of someone winning 3 lotteries in a row."

Now *this* is a wonderful nostalgic trip down memory lane. I remember Flint Lockwood got me hooked into Science when I was a young boy, and now looking back, I can see how he charmed me so effortlessly with his relatable life. I should probably watch this again someday.

5:11 lol I always thought Flint wanted to kiss her as an apology.
I'm autistic too and Flint is one of the few characters I can relate to. And also lol I literally have stan Flint Lockwood on my tumblr bio.

I remember relating to Flint as a kid but I could never figure out why, until I got my Autism diagnosis. Since then I’ve been able to look back on some characters I relate to & thought to myself, could they be Autistic. Watching this video made me realize that he is one of those characters I can appreciate on a more personal level.

Not autistic, just wanted to pop in and say that this movie was actually underrated for its time. I watched it as a kid, and re watched it a while ago whilst visiting relatives. It was one of the movies that got better with age. Funny how that works!

I’m not even surprised Flint could be on the spectrum since I did see a lot of clear signs, even as a little kid. I could relate to him wearing his lab coat as a comfort thing, I did the same with my rainbow jacket (Which doesn’t fit me anymore unfortunately), having trouble reading social cues and even make my own effects when doing something. I really hated the cruel treatment he endured from the town and it made me relate to him to him even more (Minus the town hating, I was somewhat bullied in middle and elementary school)

I think, it has something akin to neural network build in. And people just kept on feeding it with data, mostly about food. Until it grew into something unexpected. Maybe its whole mind build around concept of food, it thinks in such cathegories.🤔

@@faudelgrey5047 Oh I see. It can be. Not all autistic people have comfort objects, and having one isn't just an autistic thing, but it's common for people on the spectrum to have comfort objects.
