As an Italian citizen, I say sorry for this movie. A former animation teacher of mine worked in this movie when he was a trainee and he always says it was a wild experience. Edit: sadly and with so much grief, my teacher Silvano Mezzatesta passed away in October '23, he worked for Italian animation movies and tv series like Winx Club and so on.

It literally feels like someone asked an AI "Make an animated, psudo-Disney film about the Titanic" and it generated this entire movie based on animation tropes.

I’m sure it was constructed in the same way AI works: choosing a plot structure and plugging elements taken from existing works into the blank spots. So they take Titanic’s general plot beats, then they just fill in all the subplots with existing animated characters; Cinderella and her stepfamily, the animals of American Tail, Speedy Gonzales, etc, the girl has red hair and is looking for her family like Anastasia, etc
It’s as original as anything AI can make, which is to say it’s a new order and combination of these things you’ve already seen but the actual creative process wasn’t engaged in at all

As an animator, I can inform you that almost every second of this movie was traced from Cinderella and other Disney movies. Not just the character designs, but a lot of animated sequences. Seriously put some of these things side by side and re arrange them a bit and they are essentially the exact same film but with different audio

The only logical reason I can think of as to why the rapping dog exists, is that maybe since this movie was originally Italian, the dog is actually supposed to be an American stereotype, which is why he raps. Especially with other characters being cultural stereotypes. If that’s not the case though I have literally no idea.
