- Today I am giving you 3 tips to get monster triceps. Who doesn't want big arms. One way to get big arms is to get big triceps. Make sure you stick around for the whole video there might be a supersize at the end.
The triceps brachii muscle (Latin for "three-headed muscle of the arm") is a large muscle on the back of the upper limb of many vertebrates. It is the muscle principally responsible for extension of the elbow joint (straightening of the arm).

mountaindog1 amazing tip for reverse grip with those rotating grips. I’ve always used straight bar and it doesn’t feel natural. Cheers bro
John, at 51 years old and 18.5-19 inch arms, is it still possible to get 20 inch arms?? What if I concentrated solely on arms for a while, how many times a week can I train them?
mountaindog1 thanks for sharing your knowledge boss 👑

What I like most about this information is that you prioritize longevity. Because let’s face it, we are all going to get old. I’m fairly young myself but I plan on lifting as long as I can, so I can appreciate exercises that minimize/eliminate injury! Good work!
im almost 46, I have to!
Yep good stuff Yo~
Very mature thinking
Preach! So True, I’m 17 and have been working out for like 3 years but only the past few months of getting serious about it. I’m totally addicted and I would hate to stop when I’m 30-40-50 so I’m all for warming up and safety!
mountaindog1 I am 55 and I appreciate your recommendations very much 🤙🏻
Even in death he found a way to still coach us all.. RIP Legend ❤️
what happened to him
He died due to death
Jeez..still cant believe it..
Very smart guy..RIP
Indeed, truly an amazing and incredible man he was.
RIP to One of the best person on RUclips with no crazy editing , nothing just giving us pure knowledge.
People appreciate that?!?!
You are definitely a type of person who is a really deep thinker. You take a lot of scenarios into consideration where a lot of other youtubers don’t do that. Love these tips.
Thank you Matt!
Down to earth personality without the loud music, special effects, etc. Direct and informative. His arms are the proof.
His arms indeed!
i can also depend on genetics you know, but yes he is good :)
Finally someone that gives true advice without silly introductions and useless talking. One of the best videos on training triceps for sure!
thank you!
Summary:
1. Start with pushdowns using soft grip handle. 10-12 reps of both regular and undergrip pushdowns.
2. JM Press. Go heavy. 6-8 reps.
3. Rope overhead extension. 8-10 reps.
---------------------------------------------------
Bonus tips for activating triceps before workout start:
1. Kickbacks with palms facing backwards.
2. Pushdowns with bands.
When this man speaks you listen. I tried the cable handles for the tricep pushdowns and I felt no pain anywhere and the tricep pump was amazing!
yep!
Finally someone who explains the exercises well and states the things that will prevent injuries. And some one who explains how to train smartly, not like other RUclips who don’t tell you the consequences it can lead. Ty so much sir
i tried this,now i have quatroceps

Your Wife handing you the bar from the floor is Awesome. She obviously is very strong.💪
Did you see her posture while lifting the bar? Damn she knows what she is doing
Sir, you have been of great help to me throughout the years with extensive knowledge of fitness, nutrition and workouts.. God bless and rest in peace..
I love to come back to older videos because there's so much knowledge to squeeze out and absorb. Being consistent is awesome but being knowledgeable has gotten me bigger faster and that's thanks to you!
Great videos. This info is great. Im 46 now, I have injured myself so many times due to the lack if knowledge when I was younger. There wasn't internet, just Iron magazine, and Muscle and Fitness. They had a lot of lifting routines but nothing about avoiding injury, or if you have injury do this instead.
I have had 4 shoulder surgeries, 1 bicep repair last year, and now another bicep rear recently in the right.
All of it was due to my poor lifting form and lack of information.
I hope these younger guys take these videos to heart so they can have a greater longevity of lifting then myself and others have had.
I wish I could go back and have the knowledge that is available now.
Thank you so much. Please keep posting.
Lovin' these videos man, especially the safety tips. Nothing fancy just solid exercises and advice. Thank you brother
You sound just like my pops from when he started training me. Longevity IS key
He's 58 now
John, you have the best videos I've seen. I'm 60 and trying to get back shape, lose some fat, tone up the muscles. Your videos are informative and teach old dogs new tricks on longevity.
I’m 17 weigh approx. 160-165. I’ve been lifting a lot and had a lot of pain. Then I found your channel. My bench is close to 300 and my squat is around 410-415 now. I can keep a good physique and keep the powerlifting side all do to your techniques without pain. Much love!!

Really appreciate your point of view. You're not just some young fool looking for YT clicks, you can talk the talk and walk the walk. Legend
What a great dude all around. Loved his content over the years. RIP JOHN! You will not be forgotten
The way he explains everything, makes you feel PUMPED already 💪
I’m so glad I found you! I’m an older lifter and this is so helpful to avoid injury! I’m sold on the squishy grips, and pronated kickbacks are genius! 🙌👊
Great advice on structuring these workouts to save your elbows. As an older dude, my elbows have been acting up and I've been looking for ways to maintain intensity without increasing pain.
This video deserves way more views and likes. Keep up the great work, sir.
thank you!
using sleeves?
Stephan Reichelt I use copper sleeves. It does help a little.
Spot on. Excellent advice. Take it from another oldie 👍🏻
your insides appear also to have been acting up, @hotfarts
Definitely going to follow your advice. Thank you for sharing.
I've had elbow issues for years so thanks for sharing this video. My elbows definitely feel the difference.
THE BEST Bodybuilding channel on YT!!!
When I really tried to start developing my tris, I did push downs and skull crushers. I vary my workout a lot, but to this day, 25 years later, I still and always include push downs in my triceps workout.
Who ever gave this vid the thumbs down bodies probably are trash, this guy is a damn genius and is unselfishly sharing his knowledge.. thank you mr. Meadows!!
Thank you John. You will be missed. ❤️❤️
I really love the knowledge and the training lessons that you're giving me my payoff and my strength is a lot more satisfying and my girl is a world Jiu-Jitsu champion and she is also benefiting from your videos I love them please keep them coming I watch them every single time I go to the gym I've corrected so many of my mistakes and I thank you for that
Healthy elbow tip: 10-12 of push down, reverse push down. 6-8 horizontal press/JM. 8-10 overhead for stretch finisher. Activation 2x10 of kick backs or band push downs. Notes taken! Thank you Sir!
Legends never die. They multiply. John has created beautiful forum for us to learn from. Thanks for the wise words. May your name live on, on all those you have influenced. RIP Brother
This remains one of my favorite exercise channels. I love the humility and total lack of B.S. here. This guy was proof that weightlifters don't have to be a loudmouth dudebro. Much appreciated!
And he’s rockin the dad shoes and socks. He’s probably sick on the grill.. love it 😂
Ha! Ha! That's funny! Probably true, too.
Wish I could subscribe more than once. Such a wealth of knowledge. We're truly lucky for your generosity, John.
thank you sir!
Jonathan Howard if he keeps this up everyone is gonna be an IFBB pro.
You know that he earns money doing this right? Awesome information from John however
@@jrnsantos9790 as he should. There are people making ridiculous amounts of money from people who don't know any better selling them shitty information and plans
John was an extremely grounded individual absolutely no ego just a thoroughly lovely human being who is sorely missed.
Perfect! Answered what I’ve always wondered about elbow pain during tricep workouts.
Whenever I feel like getting a new exercise for a muscle group I hit up mountaindogs channel, never ever disappoints!
God, please bless this man, everyone he’s inspired, and anyone whom has yet to come across his message. To develop our bodies is to honor your code. Sending strength to his family as well. Con Paz y con Amor.

I've Incorporated several things from your videos into my workouts with good results.
i appreciate your videos John. I am 6'5" 325 and 35 years old and I am trying to get into shape now before I get too old. I learn a lot from your videos and I appreciate you. thank you. Grant
I have yet to run into any info/tips from this guy that has not been very useful, and incorporating his techniques into my workouts has definitely added gains when I wasn't getting much from my own training plan.
Thanks a million. I've been weight lifting forever, but your tips on the triceps are paradox. I really feel the burn and the pump.
excellent!
I tried a tricep workout of his today and I had an amazing pump. The best I've ever had. This guy is a master. And I appreciate his humble approach without all the BS and bravado.
I don't know why I never heard of or saw this guy before. Love his videos. Gets right to the point, no b.s.! Also, love the fact he doesn't have to drop f bombs to get his point across. Plus seems like a real down to earth guy. Would love to have trained with him.
OMG You just saved my wrist pain on that variation for reverse triceps press down.. Thank you sir!!
Damn. Talk about tips! Came straight out outta the gate with the best tip. Long term elbow health. Thanks! John.
So glad I found this channel. The workout tips are straight to the core of what's needed to get your work in and try to conserve joint health. Great videos!
In my opinion Mr.Meadows is the G.O.A.T , ive put on some size watching his videos so simple to understand and he gets to the point.
Currently going thru some elbow tendonitis now. If only I had seen this video awhile back haha looking forward to added these tips into my routine! Thanks!
Longevity is a prerequisite for progressive overload. Very informative video, as always!

mountaindog1 like the way you explain things , very informative and this is my first time seeing one of your videos but I'll be watching more of them .
thank you!
Thanks, Coach, as always!
Nice to see your super cute assistant (Mrs. M). 😍
Can’t wait to try these workouts! I’m about to check more of your videos!
I like these tips. I'm changing the order of my triceps workout.
Triceps have always been my best feature. I built them mainly with taking a single dumbbell sitting in a chair and doing behind the head extensions. Going heavy and to failure with a spotter. 70s 80s 90s. 12-15 reps. Blew my tris up! BUT, it also started wearing my elbows out. Eventually I stopped them and have no more elbow pain. Luckily I had already built their foundation, it's been easier to maintain them.
Also, I changed my grip. Alot of people dont know that sometimes the pain in your elbow has nothing to do with your elbow. Its actually originating at the palm. AthleanX has a video about it. Tris are still jacked. No more elbow pain😁
Soft spoken with potent content. A rarity in fitness RUclips videos.
John, you're gold. Thanks
There’s two guys that I listen to this guy and victor Martinez I love the way they break everything down
The EZ bar lying tricep press' really pumped you up highly love that exercise cant wait for arm day I'm gonna do me some!
5 years old but current as ever. These lifting technique videos last forever. Thanks. I'm using this next workout.
Thanks for dropping this knowledge
good experience u have ireally like ur videos make me improve my form john
Sir, you're awesome ! thanks for your videos !
As everyone has said, this is such a solid video. I watched it a year ago and coming back to it, I realize just how much it has shaped my tricep days the past year. Kudos
thank you!
Still watch your old videos. Thank you for all you did John, we miss you. 🙏💯
3 awesome exercises...definitely additions to arm day will be made
By far the most informative and friendly trainer on the web.
Thank you!
This guy is awesome. He's super genuine and real. He displays absolutely zero ego and genuinely wants you to grow. I'll sub to that
thank you!
Trying it this weekend. You make the most sense out of all the work out vids. Thank you.
You are amazing John sir I was already following you on Instagram but first time I found your vid on RUclips so immediately subscribed you and from now I will only watch your videos and will always like before even watching your videos bcoz I know you give amazing tips for workouts
Tried this and couldn't get my tee shirt off.
John is the most honest pro there is. Great man in bodybuilding community. Love u sir god is king.
Excellent tips. I really dig the warm up tips before these tricep workouts, important stuff.
Great video. I have found over years of experimentation that doing the push down First helps the tendons greatly.
Using an ez curl for the JM press is a great idea. I might just pick up a rackable ez curl for convenience sake. A straight bar tends to put too much stress on the outer elbow tendons, and I’ve had enough issues with them over the years. They don’t need anymore stress.
When I first started watching I thought "who is this guy? Another random RUclips knowitall." But I have to say, this fellow knows what he's talkin about! Good tips here..
I’m 58. I still lift because of information like this. This guy is outstanding !
Giving out bits of gold . Thank you.
I appreciate your training tips Bro 💪🏻
Very sound advice!
I'm 47...I try to avoid injury at the expense of progression
Thank you mountaindogg for clearing that up and and making me understand the importance of LONGEVITY I was looking for ways 2 build the triceps and traps I saw your videos I watched em clicked the 👍ups and I subscribe.......your the man brother you get str8 2 the point not like these other youtubers on here........any ways know I'm ready 2 go back 2 the gym 2mmrow and make them gains......
Thanks for the great content. I know I can always trust your advice.
you have really created and gave people a good structural approach to work out without getting injured. good job Thanks
thank you!
Great tip on those sponge handles. All these years it never dawned on me to use them like that.
He has great knowledge and breaks the routine down to where it’s simple . Very well spoken !!
I freaking love this guy. Great explanation!! Great detail
Excellent workout progression to spare the elbows. I used to suffer from very painful tendinitis in my elbows which shut down much of my training. This video checks all the boxes. I will definitely try using those handles in my next tricep workout. Just subscribed btw.
When the mountaindog give tips, i listen with great attention, as a 52 year old lifter, i have experienced how these tips actually works and its not only beneficial for older lifters, be a smart lifter, work out the muscle, not the joints.
You look very compact, dense, and yet super stacked. I never considered that sequencing was so important. I will take your advice. Thank you.
