Yes, just found this guy, modest and knowledgeable, what a sad loss to the world, going to watch all his videos is the best tribute to his memory, rest in peace big man 👍
Yeah, John was amazing. Working up all that knowledge over a lifetime and sharing it for free is crazy. He draws knowledge from his own training and people that he has trained with. His knowledge is robust. If you follow what he is teaching you, you'll understand that it is not only his own experience that he is sharing, but influences from people like Platz, Dave Tate, Westside + many more and he also has a great understanding of the science. He combines the two into bodybuilding and that makes him very special.
@@aaronbarlow4376 yeah but the injury prevention information is still great for both of us. Go on TRT if you want to get gains again depending on your doctor's advice as I don't know your blood work, age, etc and I'm not a doctor.
@@aaronbarlow4376 I'm 24 and i have really bad shoulder joints and bicep tendons. I had to discover many of the injury prevention tips Jon tells by painful trial and error. This is for everyone.
& I always love the way John doesn't ego lift & that he's not afraid to use a light weight to demonstrate an exercise... John is definitely a king among men 🙏🏻💪🏻
The best thing is that he’s humble about this. Most other guys use profanities etc; Meadows explains it cut and dry and gives the scientific data as well. Every since I started listening to him, I’ve gotten stronger and smarter at the gym. God bless you John Meadows. We need more bodybuilders like you in this world!!!
1) split/routine, have an arm day 2) Going too heavy, choose a moderate weight. form>weight 3) If choosing a moderate weight, go to failure more often/high intensity 4) Form, stop hip thrusting 5) elbows a rising a bit isn't bad 6) Swinging with shoulders, keep elbow pinned to side 7) Supinate (curl inward) at the bottom 8) Train your brachialis (hammer curls/reverse curl) 9) Preacher curl, sit back and don't use momentum 10) Exercise selection that have the same sticking spot , choose 3 exercises that have different sticking points (bottom, middle, top) ahh shit gotta go fellas someone do the rest
I know you're not gonna read this John but you are so missed it still makes me sad when I think about what you've contributed to the bb/fitness world. Your advice is still some of the best advice a coach could give and I remember when this video first came out and I watched it so many times and still do. I still to this day make arm day my priority and they've grown and made improvements that I never would have without this advice. Know you are missed and I hope your family is doing well. This is exactly what I’d looked for since months. Nobody out there explained it like you. This is no broscience. You know what you’re talking about. i will see this Video over and over again until I’m doing it right. I’m relatively new to training with weights and i did all the mistakes i could do. Thanks for helping people like me.
Great video! I've been lifting for 25+ years and found out all of this over the course of time. So glad that it's all in one video for others and you did it in a very informative and humble way. Thanks for sharing
I was in my competition prep doing cardio when I found John on YT... So many usefull informations and not to mention that he has nice voice I can be listening all day 😁
I just saw this video again and I cannot believe those things are for free. Maybe this is why John has a so passionate fan base. People realise that this man gives out pure gold every time, not trying to get more views and likes through bs that other 'fitness' youtubers provide. Big thanks sir!
Hi John. Could you please do a short video on how to wear a weight belt correctly, e.g how high to wear it, how tight etc. I know it's rookie stuff, but i'm new to wearing one and want to train safely. There may be others on youtube who have covered this, but I trust your knowledge. :)
Yes. This! I am that guy that trained my arms too heavy (biceps). Almost a year ago i got injured. And still i am just recently able to train biceps. But i have to be really careful. I have dropped the weight very low, but sometimes it still hurts. I was able to lift heavy properly. BUT. I am now a firm beliver in "just because you can lift it, doesn't mean you should." And I would say this gets more true with age.
I've learnt more from you in the few months I've been watching you than from any other youtube creator in years. Thanks a lot man. Keep pumping out the fantastic content.
100000% agree with the split thing. You will almost never find a single bodybuilder (natural or otherwise) who has world-class arms who doesn’t have a dedicated arm day 💪🏻 by the time you’ve done all your presses and rows you’re too fried to properly train your arms, plus they’re already weakened.
John was gold. Can't get enough of his knowledge and coaching. What a huge loss to the community. Such an outstanding guy. I hope his videos are around forever.
Rip mate. I just discovered your channel after hearing about your passing from other channels. I wish i had discovered you sooner. But your legacy is left.

I have learned more in this 30min workshop than I did in my entire life! Amazing video John!!! Please can you do the same type of video for legs? Quads especially? 😍
Good tips for an older guy like me too there. I'm soon 55 and have always had the problem not "feeling" the biceps enough, more forearms. Short term goal to push it from 42,5 to 43 cm, or 17". I'm sure just following a couple of these great tips would do the trick. Great instructive video, much appreciated.
So sad this guy is gone such a great person great advice. People pay for the advice he gives for free. I’ve noticed that too when you grip real har in any exercise your strength level goes up.
@gRetax G0D - TBH, no one actually knows what is optimal because the science on this is completely trash. (Seriously) In my experience, with myself and training partners, cholesterol is HUGE in terms of energy and recovery. Beef is extremely high in protein - 60 grams in an 8 oz serving of Sirloin - and it has good amounts of cholesterol. What the science is clear on is: 1. Carbs are 100% not needed for humans to live healthy lives. 2. Cholesterol is absolutely needed to make new cells. It is required for the membrane wall. The brain needs it, too. 3. Not all protein is the same. Soy or Pea protein is much lower in important Aminos Acids/BCAAs than Whey. Leucine, specifically, is very important in building muscle tissue. Beef is extremely high in all the Amino Acids you need for muscle building. The bottom line is: you need cholesterol for the formation of new muscle cells, in order to form healthy membranes on your new cells. The harder you work out, the more cholesterol your body needs. So, by getting steak, you get tons of protein, cholesterol, and micronutrients like Iron and B vitamins. It also has Creatine. I supplement with Whey and Collagen, but that's less than 50 grams a day. I am eating 280+ grams of protein per day.
Honestly appreciate this video. Too many “fitness experts” have videos about why our biceps aren’t growing and they don’t even have biceps. All I see are trunks here and I am definitely going to take the advice.
I tried the barbell curl variation of yours,it really hits the long head and got a deep burn and a great pump Thanks for giving these kinda tips for free man highly appreciate your work 👍💪
You go so deep on the form but also the psychology of the performance, the work out itself. Love you John, I'm so glad you are doing well. You gave us a he'll of a scare. Keep the great content and please take care.
Thanks for the tips John! An arm day would certainly do it, but I also think a lot of people are incorrectly applying full body splits by neglecting isolation work. For instance, I believe Jeff Nippard’s full body 5x/wk split includes 3 direct bicep exercises and 2 direct triceps exercises. I also like How To Beast’s full body format. He does 1 push, 1 pull, 1 legs, and 3 isolation exercises per workout

M y dad was a body builder and an "olympic' lifter in 1948. He taught me that strict form was key. Not so much how weight but to pay attention to good form. He also talked about "splinting". In other words using wraps and belts to kid yourself that you were accomplishing gains. You are spot on in this video. He would love this . What's old is new.
This is probably one of the best videos on biceps out there very informative, I have always preached the negative is just as important as the lift. Looking forward to the other videos.
Nice vid mate, you hit the nail on the head about people throwing up the weights, not doing proper contractions. Also dividing the movements into three parts, muscle at full extension, mid-range, & full contraction, and keeping the muscles under tension with slow movements & releases - that really hurts! All this applies to any muscle group. I've only gotten back into weight training in the last two years (now badly setback), age 68, and I'm really enjoying it, now trying to work out with improvised equipment at home.
Wow this video alone has explained to me what I've been doing wrong with my biceps. Always felt it only in my forearms as you mentioned in the video. Got to the point where I couldn't even curl as the forearm muscle were in to much pain. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us all. Me being 49 now and trying to stay healthy and in shape to be around longer for my boys means everything to me. Thank you!
He explains everything so well and softly. As a female I struggle with my friends as bodybuilders explaining...always rushed speaking or over explaining using all these funky words. This is such a learning curve cause the funky words now all make sense lol just so peaceful listening to John.
Been saying stuff like that for years. Everything comes to your mind when you try things and listen to your body but noone cares, they just want to do what's fashion. Great channel my friend, I'm enjoining every single video.
Thank you mr Jhon . This video really was the best you help us all. Even the master bodybuilders.. We all will remember u 4 ever .. You will be an Angel for me every time I start training. THANK YOU SO MUCH SR😭
Holy hell! I’ve watched a ton of these but tonight I stood in front of tv with weights. Just following instructions on form alone set my arms on fire! Almost no weight at all! Really really good information to anyone just starting out. Thanks brother! I’ll be watching all your content now! Wow
Thank you for discussing bicep/elbow tendinitis correlation. I stopped focusing on weight as much as form and mind muscle connection. What a difference it made!

Used to do heavy weights but now I'm 57 I use light weights now and do barbell, and dumbbells to failure great video as always 👍
Great stuff John, cant beat old-school training as it stands the test of time so very well. Good health in 2020 mate
Literally lightened up the weight, did my supination sooner and did my curls seated. On my first rep my felt my biceps more than ever !
Quality stuff. And thank you for saying the things you may think is "common sense". Some of us beginners need to hear it :)
Been doing this thing for over 20 years and still learn awesome stuff from you. RIP big guy.
Cool, but we want another yo-yo trick ! ;)
more coming
He explains everything so well and softly. As a female I struggle with my friends as bodybuilders explaining...always rushed speaking or over explaining using all these funky words. This is such a learning curve cause the funky words now all make sense lol just so peaceful listening to John.
Life was so much simpler in the old days! We only had to tweak diet, training or nutrition!
Now we got 21 possible problems!! 😭😭😭
Been saying stuff like that for years. Everything comes to your mind when you try things and listen to your body but noone cares, they just want to do what's fashion. Great channel my friend, I'm enjoining every single video.
Right on
Mate you're awesome my gym has the exact same machine I'm doing six sets tomorrow thanks mate 💪💪💪
I've seen thousands of videos but nothing like this about bicepes. The best exercise video ever. Salute.
thank you!
No no no John. You're supposed to yell "I command you to grow" at your biceps.
:)
Fatmandoo CT FLETCHER for $500 please?? DAILY-DOUBLE👀👀👀
yes, he mentioned the preacher curls
I really like these honest an unselfish advices!
Thank you mr Jhon . This video really was the best you help us all.
Even the master bodybuilders..
We all will remember u 4 ever ..
You will be an Angel for me every time I start training.
THANK YOU SO MUCH SR😭
Love this playlist, just free gold.
Holy hell! I’ve watched a ton of these but tonight I stood in front of tv with weights.
Just following instructions on form alone set my arms on fire! Almost no weight at all! Really really good information to anyone just starting out. Thanks brother! I’ll be watching all your content now! Wow
When I squeeze the dumbbells really hard in my overhead press I do feel it in my shoulders a lot more
Thank you for discussing bicep/elbow tendinitis correlation. I stopped focusing on weight as much as form and mind muscle connection. What a difference it made!
😍Love ur content John plzz make some videos on Genetics
