    Hey I was just accepted to CGS and this was so helpful!! I was wondering how to roommate process is for the program??? And how do CGS students fit in with the rest of the freshman??

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  Год назад +1

      Hi!! You’ll fill out the regular roommate form eventually! You can request roommates on the form if you’d like. Typically you’ll fill in an empty space of someone who is studying abroad in the spring or is not in school anymore or the spot was just never filled if that makes sense. I still found it easy to make friends with non CGS freshmen through my non CGS classes and clubs. Most people’s freshman year there’s still a lot of adjustment even the second semester so you’re not that much behind from everyone else!

    If I want to major in psychology, would I still have to take the cgs natural science courses or would it be possible to fully focus on the science classes geared towards my major?

    Hi I was accepted to the CGS program but wanted to get into the business school.
    I heard that it sometimes takes people who start in CGS more than 4 years to complete their degree. Is this true? Also, if I would switch to the business school junior year, how would it make sense that I earn the same degree as someone who was in the business school for all 4 years? Or would business school students be taking similar general education classes like I would?
    Lastly I heard that cgs is kinda like a continuation of high school. Do you agree with that, and is the program hard or easy?
    Sorry for all the questions lol

      I think this is only true if you want to double major or something like that, you would have to get advice from an advisor to know for sure, but everyone I know including myself is graduating in 4 years! The program is set up so you can graduate at a normal time. The reason is because everyone in college has to take gen eds, but CGS students just take the CGS required courses instead of picking their gen eds. You will be taking half CGS half business courses freshman/sophomore year (while non CGS students will be taking half geneds half business) and then junior/senior year will be just business. So I can assure you you’ll be on track with everyone else when you continue into the business school :) also no, CGS is as difficult as any other college course. The only reason I’d compare it to high school is because you’re required to take the specific classes so they’re kind of chosen for you. Usually you choose yourself which gen eds you want to take. But honestly I liked having the structure. Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck with decision making !! 🎉

    Is it hard to make friends with people from any of the other colleges at BU?

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  3 года назад +1

      It’s not hard at all! A lot of your classes will have a mixture of students from different majors so that’s an opportunity to meet people, and if you join clubs too that a great way to make friends with different people

    Can you choose what classes you want to take within the rhetoric, natural science, humanities, and social science required courses during your first two years at CGS or does everyone take the same courses?

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  2 года назад

      Everyone takes the same! You’ll be put into teams so pretty much the same people in all your CGS classes within a semester

  • @dylanyakubov
    @dylanyakubov 3 года назад

    So you don’t take any math courses in the first two years besides electives? Also the first two years are basically reading and writing papers?

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  3 года назад +1

      Depends on your major, I took a math class both semesters my freshman year. And that’s what the CGS courses basically are but you’ll take at least 1 or 2 other classes in a semester along with them

  • @devanshkapoor7021

    How intensive is the course? I'm very confused about choosing majors along with the cgs course work.

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  Год назад

      It depends on the person! If you keep up with the work, seek out help when you need it, and try your best you will do well.
      Your sophomore year you will transition into the major you choose (make sure you check the list of majors you can transition into). If you know at the start of the program what you want to do, you can plan the non-CGS courses that you take to be ones that are required for the major

    How easy is it to change your major? And are you able to double major if you’re in CGS?

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  4 года назад +3

      Very very easy, you don’t “declare” your major until the end of sophomore year in the CGS program and you’re only gonna really be taking 1 or 2 classes for your major per semester until then which are mostly gen eds anyways so you don’t really waste your time. It is possible to double major you’ll just have to talk to your advisor and see what the best way to go about it is! It’s much easier when both of the majors are from the same school because each school has its own classes you have to take as requirements, so you’ll only have to take one set of those classes instead of 2 if you double major within the same school.

  • @bidiptaroy8451

    I’m confused. Why didn’t you have to take humanities classes?

    • @ashleybeato2553
      @ashleybeato2553  Год назад

      You can either take humanities freshman semester+London or London+sophomore semester. I just followed the track for the major I was planning on transitioning to and what it recommended!
