@Dakota Williams that's true, but then it becomes an issue if they change a game to make it more appealing to buy them. Such as highly increasing the grind for leveling or upgradable materials.
It makes the experience as a whole worse.
I had another player go down near me and was pleasantly surprised when I got near his headstone the 'revive' prompt showed up. Then last night during a WE my rogue went down and was rezed by another player...used the emote 'thank you' for the first time...

This game has blown me away. Absolutely stunning. This game is fantasy art brought to life. So refined so polished and so much attention to detail. Me and my mates are on this journey and I don’t know when we will be back. Sanctuary is home.
My only complaint is I think the ultimate should be on its own skill slot, using one of your 4 hot keys is rough. It just does not feel like you have enough options in play. Yeah, yeah it promotes different builds, but you can load so few skills you just don't try nearly as much. Edit to add, oh and there is no darkness ultimate. There is undead, blood and bone but no darkness.
Well, let's see how things progress. I get the feeling that they will have a lot of good expansions and quality of life adjustments.
@@TheFirstRealChewy Maybe, but while its entertaining enough to play through once unless those come out I can't see myself playing it again. Long post incoming my preferred/planned build ended up feeling pointless. Necromancer summons include 3 slots, skeletons, golem, the ultimate, 2 of those are a lot like passives in that you only really use them again in boss fights, the ultimate is okay but its got a long cool down. That really leaves one spell to play with in a build. Yeah you have the left/right click ones but those feel more like a light and heavy basic attack than a actual skill use.
If you play into being a necromancer you just don't have much past your basic/core attacks. I kind of get it, there are like 8 active skills past the basic/core then 3 ultimates so if your have access to too many there would not be much build diversity. But some of that is a flaw in that each tier should have come with 4 skills or at least 3 active ones(bone, blood, shadow) There are only 2 curses, only 2 spells at corpse and macabre level, only 3 ultimates. There really just is not much. So they trim you down to 4 active skills and a core/basic which again feel more like basic/heavy attacks and not unique spells. Ideally they would have had enough skills that letting people have 8-10 skills would not be an issue. But failing that the ultimate on its own would at least free up 1 skill.
Yeah I've had the same thought. I'm currently at lvl 54 world tier 3 with my necromancer and I've never really had an ultimate equipped for more then to try em out. Yeah the ults are neat but with the fairly large cooldown I've really felt it was more practical to have another core ability instead. But there is this voice in the back of my head always saying I'm doing it wrong for not using an ultimate ability.

I like Diablo Games, but the lack of offline mode is a dealbreaker for me.

My first Diablo experience was 4’s beta. I then went back to D3 and really enjoyed that too. Just finished Act 1 of D4 last night on a minion Necro. Really enjoying myself so far.
I did the same thing….played the Beta about 2-3 hours and turned it off. I’m downloading it right now…I’m stoked.
First they get you addicted and then they start the milking of their victims. This game is going to be a demon devouring their players wallets.
There is no excuse for always online being a requirement. It is entirely anti consumer.

We should always have the option to play offline if it is a single player game. Diablo 3 I used to play both, offline and online. Not having this option in Diablo 4 is a step back, doesn't matter if I have internet all the time. I shouldn't be playing a single player game and get kicked off halfway into a story cutscene because the game server crashed.
@@SteelKreel basically it means if you’re internet is down/spotty or the server is down you can’t play. Also can result in rubber banding and hitreg issues if there are problems on either your end or the servers
@@SteelKreel idk about op, but besides my phone I don't have good internet at home. There are dozens of us that are either to poor to reliably afford the extra bill, or simply to rural to have quality signal (or both in my case).
I'm fine not playing online, but it's a bummer and a deal breaker when a single player game requires internet. Essentially it renders them unplayable and useless for me when I'm at home where I do my gaming. Can't think of many great reasons for it on the consumer end either, given that it bars some consumers from being able to use the game at all.
There is absolutely no justification for the in-game store, all the stuff in it should have been earnable in-game. Blizzard will make a ton of money from this game, and having the store does not incentivize quality content updates.
I found a legendary item with an aspect that turns blood wave into a darkness/shadow skill. Changed my life!
This game is a 10/10. It's incredible and the story is legendary. I loved every second of it.
I love it, HOWEVER, it isn’t a 10/10 for me because Diablo not being in a Diablo game takes it down a few notches for me.

@@SwiFTDBL I did for 23 years, I got D2 on launch day and have been playing on and off since. The past 4 years I was playing D2 mods, then Resurrected.
Maybe I'll play it next year..... I was super hype for Diablo 3 and we all know how that went. I played D2 growing up and it was definitely my favorite PC game..... The burn from OverWatch is still fresh, and Final Fantasy is coming out in less than 2 weeks. There's no way I can justify paying full price for this game right now. 😢
But I still like and comment because our boy deserves the support.
I'm playing on a old used Xbox one x and using some 8 dollar headphones I bought from Big lots. The audio is somehow still amazing. The gameplay and multiplayer is working without issues so far. Loving how dark the story is this time around. Very gruesome and sinister. Druid is very very cool. Put life on hold for this game right now. Lol

When it comes to the in game cosmetic store, I’m kinda fine with it since some of the armor you can find in late-endgame which cost you nothing to convert into transmog looks a lot better than the stuff the real money store offers
That's a big red flag. The company released the game for the profit. What will they fill the store with if the cosmetics aren't attracting profit?

Loving the game. I've had two login issues. The first day PSN was borked and couldn't get a license.. eventually the user population find a workaround and we started playing.
2nd time was a blizzard login issue and I didn't get to play for awhile.. and I'm already limited in playtime. I agree it trickles the rewards enough to keep you going, and everywhere you go is a distraction for something different to do.. you're not stuck on the main.
No offline mode, im not wasting money on this. People like you seem to forget that Diablo 1 and 2 didnt require a constant internet connection. It sucks Blizzard is still going the Diablo 3 route with the constant internet bs. They seem to have forgotten some people live in areas with really bad connections.
Rubberbanding can get especially bad for me as a Necromancer with an army following me. Definitely causes some issues, but only occasionally. I did have an episode or two where I just switched back to Tears of The Kingdom because the stability just went into the toilet.
I did manage to do like a 8 player plus event today with no lag so maybe they’re already on it
there already was stability/ barb/ classes and latency end game FIXES.. MAN.. this GAME :D I sounding too much fanboy.. let me go back to D4 now.. and then FH5 and THEN Tears..
HONESTLY... (shhh..) its too bad Tears zelda botw 2 came out during DIABLO 4 ( 13 years later) WOW this game.

been playing since early access, gotta say this is one of the smoothest launches in a long time.
Been playing with early access this weekend I'm completely hooked it's such a blast, it's probably GOTY for me.
Man... glad to hear so many first time Diablo players enjoying D4. I hope some of you/them go back and play 1 and 2 though. They aren't the same, so don't expect that, but they have their own greatness to appreciate for sure.
By the way, the whole "Chasing the villain" thing is kind of a staple of all 4 of the Diablo games (I don't know about immortal since I didn't play it).
I remember that fateful day i stumbled across dark alliance as a kid, so under rated! Loving diablo, and the review!

how great the gameplay and progression was.

I will say. I enjoy the side stories more than the main one. Like the quest with the exorcism. That one was awesome. Especially since it came in parts
So far some minor visual bugs are the only issue I’ve run into (and I guess Golem not auto-binding and having to do it myself which was a little confusing until I looked it up). It’s fantastic. The gameplay loop they nearly perfected in D3 has just been improved and given a great new look.
It’s been so long since I did a first playthrough of D3, and world tier progression does feel slow (I’m ready for 3, give me that next tier) but there’s so much to do even in the main game, let alone the endgame loop.
Got to admit, I am hooked and find it a huge step forward from 3. XSX uprightshark if anyone needs backup.
Hope Blizzard keeps this path with this game and hope they bring back the Paladin next.

Need an opinion. I've never played a Diablo game before, and I'm the type of person to play through a game until I beat it and then maybe finish a few side quests before never touching it again. From what I've seen, it seems like this game is somewhat live service (I might be wrong), so do you guys think this is a game worth getting if I just play through the campaign and do a few side quests that interest me? I do enjoy RPG's and just good games overall regardless of genre. Thanks!

It will be a great pickup for that! Also, I will have content added down the line so you will always have fresh gameplay to jump into. You are getting a lot for your buck as well.

No their is so much content in just playing the story and levelling a single character (tones of fun legendaries skills amazing cosmetics and more side content than most games, that time wise it one of the best games for value and most people seem to enjoy the combat which is the most important part, the question you should ask yourself is, do you like looter shooters, cos its mostly going into dungeons, killing enimies and bosses. Their are amazing locations but its still gonna be killing different enemies, and getting loot to upgrade.
Also as a small note the campaign is actually quite hard but the time you start getting to the end you need a good setup.
The cinematic are the best in the series though if that was the only reason for you to get it you could technically watch them at lower quality online.
For me as a Diablo fan its 10/10 so far.
I don't mind cosmetic only microtransactions, especially if it's not shoved in your face. I don't care at all. It has nothing to do with me. We need to treat cosmetic microtransactions different from Pay to Win garbage or Loot Box Gambling Addiction garbage.

The game is dangerous. I hit level 50 before even getting my mount. Will be like ok im going to do some story content then get distracted and boom the suns up. Whole night gone lol.
I’m really enjoying it. It’s my first Diablo game. I got so distracted the past two days doing side content and dungeons I’m level 35 in act one. i still don’t have my mount. 😂😂

I didnt even start act 2 until level 32. The mount isnt until like act 4 lol
This is the first Diablo game I have played and I am enjoying it. It's fun and I can take it at my own pace. I'm really looking forward to learning all about this game and seeing what class I end up on. I started with a barbarian as it seemed like it would be the most "newbie" friendly in the game. I plan on playing every class eventually.
i agree with your point about villains being present and upfront in a story. was my biggest issue with horizon fw's story. all the villains were barely present throughout the runtime

Yeah...if they are leading with 30 dollar skins much less a battle pass on a 70 dollar game I have very little faith the mtxs won't ramp up and bring the whole game down. If I do get this game it'll be years down the road for 30 bucks hopefully with everything bundled into it.

Right now I have a Necromancer that I’m playing solo with. And I have a barbarian with my girlfriend. We actually started out recently playing Minecraft Dungeons. I told her to also play it by herself also because it’s training for Diablo haha this is one of the smoothest launches I’ve seen for an open world RPG especially one thats online only. Quality and quantity. It’s simple, fast, but also has so much depth to it. We could be two of the same classes but play completely different. The replay value on this game is insane. That’s exactly why I bought it. I only ever buy games I know I’ll come back to.

I’ve played Diablo 2 and 3 and I couldn’t get into it. Then I gave Diablo 4 a chance and I was really happy with it.
I've also been doing necromancer but i use a lot of the corpes abillities and blood skills but i think i'm going to change stuff to be a mix of blood and bone skills with corpes explosion on RB so far i haven't had any lag but tomorrow i'm anticipating the servers to be pretty stressed for the actual launch though i hope i'm wrong on this because so far the launch is going way better than anyone else's live service titles these past couple years so i hope they keep that up it's a good change to see blizzard get something right (aside from the store prices which are a bit much i'd rather see valhallas cosmetic pricing scheme because i believe their cosmetics are a lot cheaper

I will never buy an always online game. That means you don't own the game. They can close the servers when ever they feel like it and fuck over all the people who bought it. All the time I keep hearing about games who keep closing down the servers. It's not worth it.
Great video, Matty! I LOVE loot based games! I love alternate costumes and gear stats and that crazy ridiculous looking armour but I was in the same boat as you! I always avoided Diablo! Then one of my buddies got me into D3 and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for! The, as you say, loot vomit, the crazy build opportunities and gnarly looking armour was perfect to me! Love the sense of progression the game gave me as I built huge endgame builds and crushing torment 16 rifts! I feel that’s one of Blizzards biggest feats is making you feel rewarded for hard work and patience in the game! A TRUE sense of progression! D4, imo, is the best Diablo game we’ve ever gotten (store and all) I love the dark, gothic atmosphere of it all. The best way I can describe the tone is catholic metal! I love the fine tuned gameplay, the visuals, the creature designs and of course, the LOOT! I literally cannot wait to see what this game has in store for the future! I’d love a reaper of souls like expansion for the game! Something that expands on the story and world and adds new classes, locations, mounts etc. Looking forward to future videos from the channel! Keep up the great work!
To be honest you should have started with D2 at least , D2 Resurected , as D4 is a much more proper sequel to that game. D3 is fun and solid now ofc , so it is a nice start but D2 at least is the essential one imo .

No dude you are spot on those prices in the store. We’re ridiculous. I said how can the stuff cost half the price of the game? Look I can understand if you have a costume in there and it’s $2 I can get that I’ll give you that if it’s something I want but they were asking $20 for some of this stuff I said what’s the point of even having the low tier offering of purchasable loot if everything you want to sell me is literally $20. I don’t know who the hell did the pricing for them, but they need to be fired.
I am really enjoying the game, but to be honest if they want to retain players like POE, Blizz really needs to step it up with season's. It has a good base, but there is very little endgame content. And the game desperately needs more abilities for each class. There is a severe lack of build diversity and if new season's don't introduce new build types, the playerbase will drop off.
My biggest issue with this game aside always online which i also hate is level scaling 😔 makes doing sidequest feel somewhat useless.. i started doing sidequest thinking i will grow My character and make next mission easier only to realise as i level up the mission level also raises

Not sure where you are seeing the lag but it’s been fantastic on my side. I do have fiber optic internet so maybe that’s it. But for me very little issues with any lag or rubber banding since early access. Almost no login issues.

ARPG is probably some of the best type of RPG with combat.. i just love proc'ing stuff and modifiers .. even mmo's barely have this stuff.. nothing beats builds like an arpg

Early access couch co-op was just about flawless. Late Monday night (the 5th) as the full release started we got some issues. It reminds me of the Blizzard of old. Born in 76 so I definitely remember Blizzard of old.
Only gripe is the builds are a bit simplistic but this is just the beginning.
Caring about trophies = you don’t have ADD.

Downloaded the game today on to my PS4 Pro. Played 2 characters up to the the hermits cabin. The sorceress and the barb.Not very far, level 6. But I can say already that this is the game that Diablo III should have been.
I cannot stand storefronts like that. A game does need it to succeed. This is a full priced game it doesn’t need it. If you’re gonna go that route make it cheaper for entry.
I been waiting for this game & been loving it! So much to do. Servers caught on fire already lol. After 5th dc within 13min each time, I had to stop for the night. Really hope they get the servers in line by the time I play again. No way would I waste my time doing hc with how bad these dcs were getting. I lost count amount of dc I got trying to finish the dungeon for t3 unlock
First time playing in using lightning based sorcerer it’s been fun I was kinda iffy on the pov at first but after a few hours it almost seems natural. Kinda makes things seem small but I’m enjoying the story although I was slightly butt hurt by the early betrayal. Trying not to get tips for building making so I can get a fresh perspective and the areas are pretty open so I’ve been trying to enjoy taking more time rather than rushing through the maps like in other games. But I can tell this is gonna be taking up a lot of my game time🤣.
This is probably one of my new favorite games of all time. Diablo 2 was my favorite before this came out. This game is just incredible.
Diablo II the original version of the game was undoubtedly one of the best games I’ve ever played in my time. Diablo III was ehh ok , but this one looks promising
At least they released a brilliant game. I liked how D1 had a, imo, gripping story but it was possible to ignore it and not feel the difference. Glad D4 doesn't force the story either.
And adaptive difficulty is a must in games like this
Matty loved the review on XSX... but man, I'm leveling like mad, on my Network experience, I haven't seen much latency at ALL. .make Sure you have aLLM on xbox active.
Also, you said its mmo but also single player "unlike" other moms? or something? No. that is how big moms work like THIS... open massive world together. then instances. (solo/party/guild)... thats where latency won't be a huge issue too.. I REALLY love the endgame Strongholds. the PVP zones... and of course if 10 man dungeons come WOW.
And of course strongholds /nightmare strongholds progressive gearing/difficulty + WORLD bosses .. + 10 MANS? :D haha ! game is AMAZING day 1.. like forza horizon 5.

There’s a certain cinematic, near the end of this game, that blew my damn mind on a story standpoint, and a, well, cinematic standpoint. It was movie quality.

First 5 hours were good but last night ISP had an outage and got kicked out of my game. Tried to hop when it came back and now I'm stuck in queues that keep counting up. Tried for over an hour and couldn't get back online. Always online for Diablo is already a problem
Diablo used to be good when it was groundbreaking, inspired, and a PC game.
PC doesn't have games. It's a gamepass machines now for xbox. Which also doesn't have games.💀

Very well designed game, especially launching like this. I'm a 1000's of hours Diablo 2 player that's excited about this game through the years
I’ve never played a game in this genre until Diablo 4 and man, I love it. I’ve only played about 8 hours or so but it’s addicted and everything flows well.
