Glad others are making these comments. Tired of pointing it out myself. While Roman is correct, these machines are very capable and would decimate their courses, the fact they did not even make the effort to show it is disappointing. Was expecting Alex and Kase and or even Tommy to be out there with these machines running them on the back lot making a bit of drama with them. Not Roman whining cause he is cold and has had enough with the boring toys. 🙄
2020 Defender HD10 owner here. I am pretty sure what happened at 9:20 was the Electronic Belt Protection system. When it detects slow driving, with lots of resistance going forward, (in this case going over those little ruts while creeping uphill while in hi range) the throttle is cut. This is done to help prevent the driver from putting lots of power while in hi range and blowing the belt. From my experience, it only happens in hi range. A message usually appears on the gauge telling the driver "Low range recommended".
Appreciate the insight! I’m seriously looking at a defender pro for farm work (towing and hauling) and am curious if they were in low range, would this have happened? Thank you sir! 🙏 I’m also considering aftermarket clutches for low-end grunt and to hopefully save belts. This won’t be a trail rig.
As someone that up until recently sold Can Am the 6x6 is a beast but both rear differentials are locked making the turning radius pretty big. Better off just getting the Defender Pro with the same bed and 4x4 unless you need the extra 700 lbs in the bed. Recently drove the 2019 version of this same Honda and was very impressed!
Why do you guys always run CVT equipped machines in high range when you’re testing slow speed abilities, that poor belt. Low range will give you far better throttle input response as well.
The power dump bed is actually something everyone should have, we have a 2016 mahindra mpact 750 and it had a hydraulic dump bed but none of the major manufacturers do.
You guys could definitely do some more testing of sxs and Atvs while you have them. Other than the mule, most of the time you show them when they show up and maybe one video of lightly testing. How about you guys do a group trail ride with them, or take them along to Moab when your testing trucks. I also know you guys are very busy and stretched over a wide variety of content, but just seems like these machines are what usually draws the short straw and not tested much at all.
The issue when you thought it lost power was you were in high range! That thing is heavy and going up a hill like that and against the berm of the trenches you were basically about to smoke the belt keeping it just at engagement. For the love of God throw it in low range
Definitely apples and oranges. Both are good machines. The Honda is more fun, but if you were building a remote cabin in the mountains the 6x would be the ticket.
I’m looking forward to seeing you guys really push these things. My 2wd ATV is a 04’ Polaris Magnum 330 and I would have no problems with these obstacles. I’ve been through worse with no issues. Let the real tests begin 👍
All 3 trim levels of Defender 6x6 are rated 3,000 lbs towing.....not the 2,500 lbs as quoted in video. The payload is 1,700 lbs for base DPS, 1,570 lbs for the mid range XT model with a few options, and 1,200 lbs for top dog Limited well optioned enclosed cab model with heat/AC. All versions are rated 1,000 lbs bed capacity. This is right from Can Am brochure. Just thought some clarification was needed. Looking forward to more content on this beast!
Its a welcome comparison, but your course is easier than any hunting trail I’ve ever seen. Not a even a challenge for a one wheel drive golf cart. We didn’t learn anything from the course.
Bit lopsided... like comparing a tandem axel dump truck to a F250. The CanAm is purpose built for offroad construction, the Honda is a general use. Just like comparing the 1000-5 to the Talon would show differences that are obvious at a glance.
Could I please get some honest opinions on these two exact rigs. I'm looking at these exact utvs. I need help determining which is the best bang for my buck. Thanks folks.
I am definitely a Honda fan but just can't get past the cab heat issue with the Pioneer. Probably will buy the Can Am Defender HD10. How do you like the Dual Clutch vs Belt?
I have friends who have the 1000-3 and 1000-5 and both have cab heat issues. Great in winter but not so great in summer. I had a Honda Talon. Awesome machine for trail riding. Engine and DC trans great but I prefer a CVT for slow trail riding. I want a machine that's more versatile for doing trail riding and utility.
Absolutely simplistic shit they put the machines thru. I have a 2023 Pioneer 1000-5 Trail and have done some damn sketchy hill climbing with it. I have been riding with friends that own Polaris Generals and Can Am Mavericks, and I have done everything they have done plus climbed hills they never attempted.
Come on guys.....that was dismal display of what they can do. My riding lawnmower can make it through your "ultimate torture test".......lol. Take them to Moab and climb some rocks. Ride them in the mud or snow. You did a comparison of the Defender 6x6 vs Toyota Tacoma a couple years ago and you were dragging logs, hauling hay rounds, climbing, etc at the ranch and that was great. Sorry to bust your chops as your content is usually great. I have a Defender 6x6 Limited on order and was hoping to see it really tested as $34k is a lot to convince the wife to spend on a "man toy".......lol.......could find an old Yugo that could pass this test for $150
Find an old Yugo? It would be tougher to even find one that runs than to run it on the tumbleweed ranch course. An old functioning Yugo is now almost unobtainium.
I have several videos of taking this thing down some technical trails in sand hollow, UT, Montana, and Colorado if you want to see how this video SHOULDVE been done. 😂
Why 6 wheel,.. load capacity over rough and or soft terrain. ( I asked some guys who use them for a major utility company here where I live, and this is why they buy them, apparently.) I'd imagine these machines would play havoc with grassy surfaces,... i.e. don't drive them over your prized lawns. :)
I currently own the identical defender 6x6 xt....THE REVERSE CHAIN IS BEYOND WEAK!!! If you are considering any defender, you are going to need to buy the reverse chain upgrade. Especially on the 6x6...other than that. Nothing can stop it.
I had a 6x6 when I was a kid hauled alot of fence posts and wire I love to have the new model the Honda looks nice 2 they made amazing 3 wheelers lol that was my thunderbird lol
What a disappointing test. I am considering both of these machines and these guys didn't show us anything I didn't read under "Features" on the manufacturers websites.
Can am any day, I absolutely hate Honda even if most people like them. I’ve had nothing but issues with Honda. I will take can am or polaris any day over the honda
These vids are ok about comparing cars / vehicles and Top 10 and the weird side-by sides.... But where are the real Vehicle testing you guys excel in? These videos are getting boring!
So I do not live in the U.S. here we can drive ATVs and side by side on the street like a car or motorcycle which you cannot (because your socialist government cannot understand what they are.) but it would be nice if you talked about top speed, can the Honda do 120kph which is 75 mph and at what RPM what is the max RPM meaning is it struggling to maintain 75 or is it cruising speed? 1000cc bike can do it easy and all day?
I got my 6x6 up to 60 but it took a while to get there. My friend’s x3 maveric turbo RR is governed at 92 mph and gets there very quickly. We can legally drive on all roads here in Montana.
Was hoping to see more of a comparison. This was like testing a civic and a corolla in the parking lot.
it's seems lately the only thing on TFL is this type of video. Borrrrrrrring! What happened to the ranch and to driving tests?
😂😂😂
This track is no bueno hehe

Shawn Darter exactly..!! Love to see reviews more than family home videos type of things.

The mahindra can not compete offroad with either of these machines.
If it's too cold, get a young, healthy guy, out of the bullpen. Keep rolling Andrey.
Bring a puffer in one of the many compartments of the side by sides … be prepared. I guess we’ll just have to wait for the next video.
@@shitloveaduck Yes if you know it’s going to be cold outside or even the possibility of cold… you bring a coat.

I know rite they drive me crazy driving Cvt automatics in high up hills slow and thru mud then their like what happened 🤣
Not even loaded, barely an obstacle & cutting out, pretty sad.
That's the belt saver feature.... You should use low range if you are going that slow.
Definitely apples and oranges. Both are good machines. The Honda is more fun, but if you were building a remote cabin in the mountains the 6x would be the ticket.

Appreciate the video but if you're going to test SxS's, then test them. Not sure what this video accomplished.
You should keep it in low range when traversing obstacles and on hills. Not high like you were in. It’s recommended by the factory
Roman: Get a look at all those driveshafts!
Cameraman looks at anything but...
All 3 trim levels of Defender 6x6 are rated 3,000 lbs towing.....not the 2,500 lbs as quoted in video. Don't know if I've missed them but haven't seen many pioneer videos. Would like to see more and get yalls opinion on how well it has done from I yall.
Outside of it being picked up and delivered, you did not miss anything prior. 1st time I have seen it driving around at the ranch.
Yay! SXS content! The Can Ams have a belt saver in the electronics…if the belts cold or you was in high gear it will limit….?
Bit lopsided... like comparing a tandem axel dump truck to a F250.

Owned both. Kept the 6x6. It has been good.
I am definitely a Honda fan but just can't get past the cab heat issue with the Pioneer. Probably will buy the Can Am Defender HD10.

The pioneer 1000 has 77 HP. And a 6sp Dual Clutch Transmission. All straight cut gear drive - No Belt
I have a M35A2 6x6 and as long as there is at least 1000 pounds in the back it is pretty much unstoppable.
You probably lost power if you were in high range, you should always run CVT’s in low range under 25mph
You should have compared the pioneer 1000-3 base, 17k vs 23k is an easy choice.
I don't know why you're bitching, it's perfectly warm in my living room.
its the price of a car. these things are so expensive.
Does that 6×6 have diff locks for all 3 axles?
No. The rears are permanently locked and the front has a very janky POS visco lock that works * sometimes *
Like to see test a diesel version.
👏👏👏GREAT JOB TEAM TFL 🙏...HAVE A BEAUTIFUL THURSDAY EVERYONE ✌️
Y'all have a really nice & challenging course but not for these type of vehicles. Still enjoyed watching the 6×6.

Andrey was ready to get down and dirty but Roman was Too Told!!! U need a stunt dbl Roman!!
No way the defender suspension was a lit better. Not a Polaris fan but they do have good suspension
That's a sweet Honda
Is it just me or did watching Andre drive make you nervous?
I currently own the identical defender 6x6 xt....THE REVERSE CHAIN IS BEYOND WEAK!!! If you are considering any defender, you are going to need to buy the reverse chain upgrade. Especially on the 6x6...other than that. Nothing can stop it.
Where's the Honda 6x6 SXS?
Boy what a grueling test!
I would go for the Honda just because of Honda reliability can’t beat a Honda
I've owned a number of SxS's; I found the Honda Pioneer 1000 is the best all-around SxS for my multiple needs and uses.
Thats why i went Honda for my new atvs last year. Got a recon and a rancher
Too bad Yamaha doesn't send you a Viking to compare. It's a reliable machine
Wow these guys have no idea what a 6x6 can truly do. My friends wheelchair could ride on this silly test trail.
Nice way to back out Roman. Lol
I had a 6x6 when I was a kid hauled alot of fence posts and wire I love to have the new model the Honda looks nice 2 they made amazing 3 wheelers lol that was my thunderbird lol

Way heavier than a motorcycle
Way heavier as mentioned above an geared lower. Places In rural US can drive them on road...
I got my 6x6 up to 60 but it took a while to get there. My friend’s x3 maveric turbo RR is governed at 92 mph and gets there very quickly. We can legally drive on all roads here in Montana.
Come on dude. Put on a warmer coat 🥶
Honda wins.
