    In this video, Lloyd teaches you a hard figure skating turn right from your home! Choctaws are turns that enter on one edge and exit on another while also changing your skating direction and your foot. You skate in on one circle, then join a new circle when you perform the turn.
    This is one example of a Choctaw, there are many other ones that can be done and will be covered in future videos if people want to see more :)
    This figure skating turn is not an easy one and is classified as a difficult turn by @Skating ISU
    I decided to make this figure skating tutorial video because there is no reason the ice rinks being closed should halt your figure skating progress. There is so much great work that can be done from home, that by the time you get back onto the ice, your figure skating will be on another level!

    Omg! That is great! Aaannndd I am so ready to get back on the ice! How are you both holding up? I know you are more south than I am.

      We are holding up okay! We do a lot of lessons on zoom and help people improve off the ice. We get a lot of job satisfaction from this and it helps us stay mentally okay during the lockdown. We have met some wonderful people through zoom and even chatting to people in the comments sections of the videos here. It makes all the work we do with Ice Coach Online worth it❤️
      I hope you're staying safe 🙂

    Can you do a video on skate profiles, toe pick styles, and the differences between Freestyle, Dance, etc, And what profile you like to skate in?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 года назад

      That's a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion ❤️ I did cover what I skate in on the video "what equipment do I use" but I didn't talk too much about the differences. I'll cover that in a future video 🙂

    Any double jumps video soon?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 года назад +2

      We have double jump videos on Patreon! They will make their way to RUclips one day, but most likely that will be when all the rinks are back up and running

      @@IceCoachOnline Off-ice double jumps?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 года назад +2

      @@katharina2899 off ice double jumps are a tricky one. A lot of it comes down to subtle details in the technique that help you take it from a single jump, to a double or triple. Then there is also the fitness and explosive power to consider. We find that often, when trying doubles jumps it's very important to have feedback from a coach. Which is why we put out the videos covering all the single jump techniques, then help people work their way up to doubles and beyond on zoom. If you're interested in getting some help with this, send us an email at team@icecoachonline.com 🙂

    Why are they called Choctaws??
    Does it have anything to do with the
    Choctaw Native Americans?
    I love how this move looks!!

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 года назад

      That's exaclty why they are called choctaws. I'm not even kidding, from what I have been told, when the move was invented "cowboy and Indian" films were very popular, so they just named it after a Choctaw from Native Americans!
