- This is a recreation of Metallica's "Sleepwalk My Life Away" from their new album "72 Seasons".
All instruments except the original vocals were remade, played and recorded from scratch, using mixing and sound design techniques to replicate the sonic style and tone of Metallica's self titled "Black album"
Note: Please excuse the rough quality of the vocal track. I tried using AI to replicate James's young voice, but the results had too much audible artifacts, so I added the AI vocals low in the mix underneath the originals, you can barely hear it but it adds some subtle grit and aggression.

Not only do you do a great job with the AI James, you can hear both voices blend and merge to the extent you feel young Het and Papa Het are singing a duet with each other, awesome stuff :)
The prechorus is actually Papa Het's voice and not Black Album James

"Sleepwalk My Life Away" was the only song I liked from their last album, but I thought it was too slow, boring and I also hate Metallica's late mixings. You just fixed all the problems to me, thank you.

Hey bro, just wanted to say that i listen to this version of the song almost everyday. Lowkey i think this song sucks how they released it on 72, but you gave it the life it needed. Speeding it up gave it the energy and having the old vocals gave it the old james we love. Good shit man. I literally have this on my gym playlist. And dam, i didnt realize you remade it. For real my man, you should redo the whole new album in either Black , Justice or both would be great! Seeing all these videos on here solidifies in my mind that fans just want the old Metallica production back. And tbh you've proven it makes these songs heavier and better. Okay, this one works vocal-wise as a Black Album song. Otherwise it's pretty signaturely 72.
This isn't one of my favorite songs... In fact, what makes this song worse is the fact it wastes a kick-ass intro.
Should have changed his drum beat in when the riff kicks in, always bugged me how his kick drum didn’t follow at all with what James guitar was doing. It sounds great though don’t get me wrong 😂

The Black Album has a third guitar panned centrally, have you done that on this? Can't tell...
Honestly I wasn’t aware of that. Are you sure it’s not the baritone guitar used on certain parts of Sad but True? I don’t imagine it would sound pleasant with a third center panned guitar the whole time.

The problem with James' model from the 90s is that they put in a lot of sounds that cause errors when converting the audio (for example screams, growls, etc). I think the best way to make these models is without these weird sounds, also that the audios don't have reverb, I thought that I could do it, but lately I've been very busy, and I think I will be for the rest of the year, but, If I have time, I'll see if I can create a model for James from the 90s. I think you did a good job with the existing model, but the right thing would be to have a model already suitable to be able to convert the audios.
You are 100% right on the mark. That’s exactly what I tried to do initially, but soon realized that’s way out of my expertise and available time. If you do happen to make some new models please keep me in the know!
@@zososound For now I only made the model of James from 2008 in case you're interested, I hope I have time to create the model of James from the 90s, of course I'll let you know when I make the model, I can also make a tutorial on how to make them, it's very easy but you need a good graphics card. I'll see what I can do 👍
Justice tone and black album era tone to me sound the most sinister Metallica still kicks butt the tones would help the new albums the most this proves they still got it

Okay, firstly, I want to start off with how freaking AMAZING this sounds, and how accurate it sound to James’ old 90s voice (something I think we all miss, myself included)!! Secondly, dude, you should be proud of yourself! This is phenomenal, and even if it’s just AI, it sounds quite complicated to do. Is it that hard? Lastly, I know you toy with the AI, but do you also make the custom album covers, and thumbnails? If you do, that’s freaking impressive, and looks so good!!
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend, it really means the world! 😃 The process of generating the AI vocals is honestly quite straightforward, it's just the imperfections and sonic artifacts of the AI vocals that need some elbow grease in the mixing side to make it work with the song and blended\automated with the originals vocals to mask the imperfections. As for the process of recording and engineering the instruments from scratch im sure you can imagine how that's like lol!

No this shows how good the new album coulf sound if they produced it well and realuze its 2023 and make their new album aound like this!!! Why do they insist on sounding like the garage bsnd down the street 25 years ago and they have a radio and cassette tape recording them!!! Analog Metallica since the black album. ...its sad and frustrating!!!
The "production" on this sounds incredible, but also illustrates why I dont like this album, it's just not a good song. There's just no dynamics, peaks, melody, etc. It's just a bunch of stuff thrown together. Honestly it doesn't even really seem musical, its some guitar riffs and drums thrown together
