Thank you Triple M! Followed your instructions and now I can use my FireTV Stick on my PC while I'm working. Instead of using Full-Screen Projector (Preview), I use Windowed Projector (Preview). This puts the FireTV in a separate resizable window. This is an excellent option especially for those who have multi-monitor screens.👍
Thanks so much. I got it working on an M1 mac. It wasn't showing the usb option in the video device so I tried it with a different USBC adapter (a super cheapie mini $2 one) and it showed up and worked.

I appreciate your help and knowledge. I have a question. I skipped pass the part where I was suppose to select usb video. Now I can only see myself on the screen. How do I go back to select usb video?
Will this set up allow me to connect my firestick to my laptop to start my firestick in safe mode. I have one firestick stuck firestick loading screen and another just completely black screen and does nothing. Before I throw them both away and replace them I want to try some different options to hopefully save them. Thank you for any suggestions.

Question. Do you need the hdmi video capture peice if you have a desktop and plug your fire stick into your hdmi port on your graphics card?
Yes, unless your desktop has a video capture cared.. The HDMI's in most devices are HDMI out, but you need an HDMI In for this to work.

Are these apps that can be found in the Amazon app store or third-party apps. If its 3rd party, you have a few options. 1. Store the apks on a usb drive. 2. Save apks on a cloud storage like Google drive or Dropbox. 3. Us send anywhere to send apps from one device to another. (With send anywhere you'll either need a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse toggle.
I followed your instructions however, When I opened devices I was only given one option to select FaceTime HD ..How can I fix this? OBS did not provide the option to select anything else? Please help

I'm using a mac mini (w/m1) the video is great, but even looking at part 2 of the video, there is no option for either using my computer monitor or my bluetooth anker speaker. Any tips would be useful.
OK...I fixed it. I had the bright idea to go into the firestick settings and turned on the "bluetooth" and connected my BT speaker and it worked.
Do you have a training video for obs studio?

Does it only work with the capture card you have? Because I have the firestick 4k and an Elgato HD60 S+ and I have done what you say except when I get to 3:46 and then nothing. As of the moment it doesn't work with my capture card and there isn't any drop menu that allows me to pick usb web cam. What am I doing wrong? Thank you in Advance.

you do need internet if you plan on streaming.

I’m having a problem with my setup on my MacBook Pro. I’ve watched and followed all of your directions but all my screen looks like is just “fire tv with the Amazon symbol underneath”. I tried using another video capture but still the same screen. Could it be the actual FireStick that is defected or am I missing a step? Thank you for any advice you may have.

When it comes to adding a source, it only shows 1 option "OBS virtual camera". It doesn't give a any other option, no USB or anything else. I tried 2 different video captures and 2 different fire sticks, Any advise? I'm using a laptop (not apple)

After I switch the device to usb video, I don’t have the option to use custom audio device.
The fire stick turns on in the background but there is no sound.
My only 2 options in the properties for “usb dongle” Are device and preset

Used this to connect my Fire Stick to my MacBook Air. It worked but, after disconnecting and reconnecting it would not display. My source is still there, when I open it does not see my reconnected firestick.. Any ideas why?

That USB capture device is only for $8 or up to $15 with free shipping from AliExpress, but it takes an eternity to come.
It didn’t work for me! I plugged my hdmi xiaomi stick directly to my macbook pro but when I chose video capture device there was no option for hdmi, only facetime hd camera. Please if you know what other solution I should try help me.
Your MacBook does not have an hdmi in, only out. You’ll need the $25 video capture card to be able to use this method.

Edit: immediately after you say you rename it "USB dongle" you edit the video to where the next thing is immediately a page where you have the "options" but you never show or explain how to get to those options. So how do I even get to where it says "USB integrated webcam"?
