Based on your word ‘look’, just that for me. I need to like what I’m looking at or I won’t buy it no matter how functional it may be. It has to look good too.
I agree. If you’re purely going for “function” or “minimal”, you might as well use a rubber band or plain old card sleeve. I feel like the wallet should be made from good materials and look good. Hard to not sacrifice just a tiny bit of the functionality and minimalism to make it look good.
HA ! Nice looking doesn"t mean functional. I've bought a lot of wallets but keep coming back to the " Big Skinny" billfold. It might look boring but I can wash it and it can hold the health, work,state,CCW,money cards,and discount cards that can't be converted to the smartphone.......and still be super thin. Too bad they took out the spare key insert.

In today's world, minimal is the first thing I'm looking for. This wallet "looks" nice with all the leather but is too bulky. I went from a big "carryall" SPEC. OPS wallet I'd had for 15 years (I did like it, but...) to the Trayvax Element and couldn't be happier. It's small, holds what I need, disappears in my front pocket so I hardly know it's there, looks great, and will probably outlive me.
Yes, another great choice! This Saddleback is for those who like the bifold handling and want something that will truly last whatever you throw at it.

It is a very traditional leather wallet meant to hold up. It has several layers of cow as well as pig skin in it so it is thicker, but will take the abuse. Definitely a wallet for traditionalists.
I would say this wallet looks more tough than it does good. It's also a huge wallet that measured slightly over an inch thick during your insertion test, which is ridiculous. I guess it could be a good gift for dad or grandpa who still like the traditional bulky bi-fold sitting in the seat of their pants ;)
Yes, if you're looking for a rough and tumble leather bifold to put in your back pocket, this is a good one :)

That looks stupidly thick before you even put anything in it. Battery technology isn’t small enough yet or light enough for that kind of carry.

Don’t know if you’ll see this because the video was made a while ago .. but if you’re considering making a purchase of this wallet Why wouldn’t the quality be a 5 .. what’s the takeaway ? Looks like a great wallet but if the wallet is a 4 that’s a high score what would make the quality a 5
Leather quality and finish is really what puts it at the top. Some wallets specifically portray a rough finish, but to get to a 5, we’re talking mainstream tanneries, shell cordovan, attention to burnishing, sewing, etc.

Saddleback has amazing quality but I wouldn't use thier wallets, too thick.
It is a rough leather and the weight if high, so they are thick. They last like a tank, but aesthetics are secondary.

Quality should have been 05 nt 04.
There are leathers better than this leather (Cordovan Shell, for example), but the Saddleback has the leather quality a wallet should at least start with to be a quality product.
Used to support saddleback but not anymore. Its cheap chrome tanned leather. You will be better off getting shell cordovan or chromexcel.
