Last comment. That is an awesome little wallet. I like it better than the one I paid $60 for a couple years ago. It served me well but is about shot. Thanks again.
Same here, because I actually do just that, I have an old fork I use as pricking iron. It's similar to the one in the video, I simply hammered it flat, trimmed the prongs to about a centimetre long (that way they're less prone to bending), twisted them to a 45° angle (this gives the stitches a nice subtle zig zag look) and sharpened the tips a bit with a file. I haven't tried it on thick/heavy leather, but on thin and medium stuff it works great.

Thank you so much for sharing this video I've seen your other videos and those are a lot of expensive tools I don't have but this way I can make a wallet and see if that's something I would like to invest in the tools.. again thank you so much for sharing your videos👍😃
Nice inspiring video. Start where you are with what you have. There is some guy specting you to pick some wild cotton to make the thread, chase a boar... I think it is more satisfying watching a master making something great with those old tools considered the minimum. That old knife that became a partner, the cheap pricking iron that was actually great. Maybe you have a rotary tool with an ebony burnishing tip, but find yourself going back to the old wood slicker, that kind of stuff.
Also add in that if you want to water proof and slightly soften the leather, use some type of oil (boiled linseed is best IMO) and soak it in the oil. For some coloration you could soak some steel wool in vinegar (makes black) for a couple of days then rub it into your leather, then soak in oil
That's a BRILLIANT idea! I wanted to repair rotten stitching on a convertible car top but couldn't decide on type of thread. Bingo, you gave me the perfect solution! Thank you very much! Wishing you abundant Blessings!
I've got a wallet. But I needed a pouch for my smart phone that would be easy for me to carry and easy to access the phone. So I used your methods on that project. I liked the fork!
Very nice. Good idea to use a fork - I never thought of that. Every now & then I sew equipment bags for my karate club. I re-enforce the ends of the bags with leather otherwise some of the equipment poke through the bottom of the bags. Only recently did I invest in an awl as I was hand sewing the leather with fishing line using a stout needle - it was quite a job. Thanks for the useful video.

I did.
I think you should be the one making that video :)
That would actually be cool, he could have someone who has never done leather work come to his shop and see how much they can figure out just by handling his tools and inspecting his prodhcts.
Yeah👍
Thank you so much for sharing this video I've seen your other videos and those are a lot of expensive tools I don't have but this way I can make a wallet and see if that's something I would like to invest in the tools.. again thank you so much for sharing your videos👍😃
"It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools for a bad result." Conversely, a good craftsman hand make great things with very little.
Maybe you have a rotary tool with an ebony burnishing tip, but find yourself going back to the old wood slicker, that kind of stuff.
fancy tool: without me its not..
fork : hold my handle
Ok, that's good, right there! 😂
I have done so much with so little for so long, I am now qualified to do absolutely anything with nothing at all.
Well done
That was actually super cool
Still one of my favorite vids. Just goes to show that skill can overcome lack of proper tools.
Depois de ver o vídeo inteiro, descobri que eu tenho apenas o garfo e o papel! 😂 Obrigada por compartilhar seu trabalho incrível!❤️
Also add in that if you want to water proof and slightly soften the leather, use some type of oil (boiled linseed is best IMO) and soak it in the oil. For some coloration you could soak some steel wool in vinegar (makes black) for a couple of days then rub it into your leather, then soak in oil
I started repairing bridles with two harness needles and a roll of dental floss. That stuff was in service for years.
I liked the fork!
благодаря твоим видео, я 6 месяцев назад начал свой "кожаный путь"))))). Спасибо.
Молодец MrCrazypupil,нашёл жилку для бизнеса . Браво мастеру видео.Проще некуда, люблю не заморочиваться.
