- Video of my 2002 Sportster 883 with Cycle Shack 1 3/4" drag pipes. Sound great, deep and throaty, a bit raspy at times. It is pretty loud. In one word: I just love them. Gives it the Harley rumble old school way: straight drag pipes.

Beautiful Bike ! I just came across your channel in my feed actually and I'm happy to support your efforts and those of other fellow moto content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you in the future, keep up the great work and ride safe out there.
I just watched the video and the bike sounds great. Makes me want to get 2" pipes now!
Glad you like the pipes bro. You are correct, I have the Burly rear shocks (never installed the fork springs even though they were in the box).
Glad you like the pipes! In the year I had them on, they barely blued at the very top. Really, it's barely noticeable.
i have those too. Very cool sound
Congratulations!
Nothing like the sound of a drag pipe. Nothing.
Good luck!
dammit great sound and look. congrats
Oh ok, I have my stock headers and screaming eagle 2 slip ons. But can't wait to put in these drags! Hoping I don't have to mess with my carb
Thought so, cool thanks man.
Thanks bro!
Installed them today bro! They are freaking amazing... I love the sound they produce, perfect. Didn't have to re-jet either. Not that mine have, but have yours blued at all yet?
Make sure to post a video. I always wondered about the 2" and would love to hear a sample ;-)
Thanks!
Thanks bro! Did you have to re-jet your carb? And if so, where did you get it and which size did you go with?
So I just watched your video again, are those the burly brand slammer shocks? And my pipes are still amazing bro. The rear pipe yellowed a little but does not seem to be getting worse, the front however has nothing. (because of the airflow it gets to keep it cooler) thanks man
Oh ok I saw them, just had a couple questions for you, how was your experience with the site and the exhaust themselves? Did you put these on yourselves? Any other work have to be done after?
Dennis Kirk is a great place to get parts. I get 99% of the parts from them.
The exhaust is of great quality and sounds awesome. But I must say that you should look into the V-Factor drag pipes (part # 445042) that are half the price and as good as the Cycle Shack ones.
I did put them on myself. The installation is easy. Remove the pipes your have and put on the new ones (that come with the proper brackets).
Let me know if you have further questions.
I ordered the 2" pipes, A friend who builds custom bikes suggested the 2" if I'm just after sound. Said that between buildings or in a tunnel the 2" sounds better. Wife's bike any way so I don't have to live with it.
Are there baffles in those pipes?
That's awesome, mine has a little yellow on the rear pipe, since the front pipe gets cooler air it has nothing so far. but they sound really good, would a better air filter make them even better do you know?
So I did a little more research on those V-Factores and I read that the chrome is not to good on them. I think I will just get the Cycle shacks like you have. Did you have to re-jet your carb?
Hey one more question, did the pipes come with new gaskets?
I just posted a quick video of it with 2" in-baffled cycle shack drag pipes. I will post a better video later as this was taken with my phone. But it sounds great.
I didn't rejet the carb but my bike had aftermarket pipes when I got it so it might have been re-jetted once before. If that was the case, I don't know what jet was used.
Did you order these pipes from a site or get them from a local dealer?
Where did you gets those led turn signals? I want to replace the stock ones on my sportster
The LED turn signals are LED inserts purchased from Kuryakyn. I purchased one set for the front, one set for the back, and also a run/turn/brake module. All parts from Kuryakyn.
In real life, pipes sound much different than they do on video. Even the 1 3/4" drag pipes sound MUCH better in real. They sound very deep and a bit raspy.
As far as I know, the 2" sound even deeper and I am very curious about them.
So you bought the bike with the Cycle shack drags? Or they had some other aftermarket ones? And what year is your sportster?
Dude our bikes are twins, except mines a 1200 without the smoked tail light. 2002 even
What brand and model number is the round air filter are you using? It looks a lot nicer than the stock one that covers up half of the engine!
Hi there. I bought the air filter a while back on Debrix.com. The site doesn't seem to exist any longer but there is a very, very similar one selling here: www.deadbeatcustoms.com/harley-davidson-bendix-keihin-type-carburetor-chrome-round-air-cleaner/
If you are asking if getting a different air filter would make the pipes sound different, then not, that wouldn't work. But a different air filter would make your engine work better.
My bike came with Vance and Hines Short Shots.
My bike is a 2002.
Trying to decide on the 1 3/4 or the 2" cycle shack pipes for my wife's 883. In the videos the 1 3/4 sounds better. Real life might sound diff?
Ok, might be two or three weeks until mounted on the bike. I went with super saver free shipping thru Amazon. I'll upload a short vid for you.
Sounds good! Where did you buy the nice looking round air cleaner?
The air cleaners you linked to only fit early Kehins, not constant velocity Kehins. Did you change the stock carburetor on your bike?
railbuggy I didn't change the carburetor. You should do some more research about the air cleaner. The website where I purchased the air cleaner from doesn't exist anymore, but mine looked very similar. Perhaps you should search for chrome round air cleaners on eBay.
Thanks, I'll do that.
No baffles.
Oh ok, how do you like them? You ever ride with 2? They ok if you do ride with 2 people?
Hey Zack. I got the pipes from Dennis Kirk (look them up on Google).
oh ok, yeah I heard a couple people saying that "After they installed their new air cleaner the bike sounded better" and I was like WTF? haha
ok, long story short. I just ordered the Cycle Shack Slash-Cut 1 3/4 in. Drag Pipes. haha
Oh and these did not have any baffles in right?
Hrmmm. Ok they get here tomm, I will see then! Ha
Exactly..."WTF?". lol!
Gaskets? There is no need for gaskets. If you are referring to the o-ring, then no, it did not come with it. I re-used the one I already had.
Baffles ??????
It would sound better if it had the 1200 kit, a big cam and a bigger carb. A motor is a pump and it needs more flow from air cleaner to exhaust pipe to work right. These little 883's are laughable stock. There is something there to work with tho
Bro what drag pipes are those ? Cycle shacks ?
I read the description lol nvrm 💪🏽
