Sounds like the idle went up with the mufflers. Sounds a little higher pitched with the mufflers too, not as much rumble but it's hard to tell through a phone microphone
I did not see any "anti-reversion" devices in the straight through drag pipes.... When bolted in the ends - i.e. conical lollypop types - the dreaded slump in torque between 2000 to 3000 RPMs will pretty much disappear.. It's a cheap fix and really does work wonders when used.
The heads are modified afterwards by the owner to have dual plugs. In an ironhead with high compression pistons (high top) they help to prevent detonation and give better flame propagation inside the combustion chamber. They are not common, but some do have them, my 1980 Ironhead has dual plug heads. They also allow the total ignition timing to be retarded because the air/ fuel mixture is ignited on both sides of the combustion chamber and burns faster thus less timing is needed.
Was wondering what those sounded like. Thanks for posting that . I'm going to get a set .
Sweet

The mufflers did seem to raise the idle . And the actually sounded pretty nice. I might look for a set for my 81 .
I've never seen a spark plug on that side of the engine.

Good spot . Yeah I remember guys adding duel sparkplugs in the old days .
eye run shorter drags!
🤘
That rear brake line will fail soon enough , cant have a solid line attached like that . but whatdo i know ...
This was ages ago and way before I even got it road worthy. Fairly positive I switched to all steel braided lines.
What is the name of the mufflers?
No idea, as it had no markings. Sorry.
What carb is that?
Believe is was a Mikuni VM38.
