Thank you! Dip dying would leave me with very sore legs, but last night I died index cards, notebook paper, tracing paper, graph paper and the backs of some one sided scrapbook paper, love the way it gets rid of bright white! I truly than God for finding you. You are a blessing!
For a different, more distressed look I like to crumple my paper, smooth it out with my hands and then apply the diluted color. Or use vinyl placemats that have designs cut out and use them like stencils when I tea stain my papers. Lots of fun! Thanks for sharing your various methods!
Marcia Taylor when using the placemat, do you stain your paper first and set the placemat on top, or do you spray coffee over the placemat? Could you please advise? Thanks!
Cindy Henry...some times I do both. I use a very large aluminum disposable pan that is deep. I put down a sheet of paper, then the vinyl placemat with diecut design on top of paper. I spray with strong tea (can't stand smell of coffee). Then I put another piece of paper on top so it is going to pick up the tea from the solid parts of placemat. I very, very gently rub my hands over topside of paper to encourage the tea to be drawn into paper. Add a placemat on top if you want or just another piece of clean paper and repeat process. There's no wrong way. I find placemats at Walmart and Ollie's. Have fun!
Thank you for your previous video! Yesterday I was playing ("fixing") my printer and had a lot of ink on paper towels. As I was rinsing some parts off into a container, I didn't realise one of the paper towels was in the container so it got saturated but as a result the ink leaked into the water. I instantly thought of your video and after I cleaned up I grabbed a stack of papers and painted away with the watery ink which had creating a grey blue/purple colour! I decided to add some more magenta to the mix and got a beautiful violet colour... I am just waiting on them to dry!
strawberries tops, that you cut off.....leaves off of trees smashed after rains.....they are full of water and release more pigments....flowers smashed onto paper gives different colors and coffee or tea grounds left on papers gives different affects.....
This is my favorite way to color my papers when I don't feel like dunking them in coffee. I use cheap alcohol and add a few drops of ink refills. I like using fancy acrylic placemats, lace, stencils, and strings. I also water down metallic acrylic paints or chalk paints too. Mixing water color pencils on plastic plates and mix with water to color my papers. I use 32 lbs copy paper. They hold a whole lot better than the 20 lbs. Thanks for sharing. GOD Bless
Eve, I enjoyed this video and your technique. I really enjoyed that you panned out on your video. It was the first one that didn't make me dizzy (I'm strange lol). Also, I have some old "SU" markers that have dried up. I know I can add alcohol, do you think I could soak the inside in water to make a wash? Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents.
I purchased a roll of craft paper from the dollar store, so I can't wait to try this. I don't have re-inkers either, but I too have old watercolor paints. TFS!
I just love this. I have dyed paper with an ink pad before, but wish I would of waited to purge my old ink pads but I still have a few to try. Thank you so much for showing us this. God bless and stay safe
I have a lot of felt tip pens that have stopped working, so I am going to soak the inside in some water and see how it goes, I'll post when I've done some
Color with a washable market on plastic wrap then spritz with water.... mush it and press paper on it too. Or make the alcohol ink like the other viewer said
Hello Edith, yes you need a few drops of water and let those paint sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Never tried the markers . I watched a video on it. I felt it was too messy. Need good gloves.
Another very strong dye to use is party streamers! Soak a small piece in water and go! You can also lay pieces on the paper to make designs. Question....do you add baking soda to your coffee before applying (supposed to decrease acidity)? TYFS ❤️🦋💜
Hi E Going through all your old videos today :) So useful xo ~ Edith have you tried powdered Rit Dye ? I havent yet, sorry if you already said that, just 1/3 of the way through the video :)
I was just watching your video on watercolors, coffee and ink pads to change the color of your papers You said that you may have some more of the watercolors left. With me being disabled as i have a hard time finding watercolors living in the middle of cotton fields. If you still have some can you please tell me how i may go about purchasing them from you
I have looked and looked and I can’t seem to find them. These are a few years old. They are called ink blending brushes. But I love them for this. They hold a lot of water and ink.
Yes it is just plain copy paper. And I use them for many things. Pages in my journals, backings on tags and such and creating clusters. Lots of uses. And I have a link under the video in the description on the large brown bags.
Edit: I found the brush, a Clarity stencil brush, however; I'm wondering the difference of Amazon's 45.00 compared to a couple others who carry at cost of 27.99 and they look the same hmmm. End edit. Relaxing and therapeutic. I'm looking for that wonderful brush you're using, I don't see it listed with your other supplies. Do you remember where to get it? Thanks so much for sharing.
That is it. It did come from clarity now that you mention it. I think it was a pack of 3 or 4 maybe. Different sizes. I can’t remember what I paid but they were not cheap. But very good brushes. Thanks so much.
I have some old dried up ink pads that I don’t use, but now I can use them to die my papers. Thank you Edith. By the way, what kind of brush are you using?
Scrapbooking With ME Crafts thank you for trying. I can’t wait to try coloring some pages. My ex-husband, the father of my children passed yesterday and my mind has been on everything but crafting today.
Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I will be trying this, l have questions have you ever used them to print on? and do you leave them stake on to of one other to dry, and what about alcohol ink, thank you again
Christal Scott alcohol ink does not spread well on porous surfaces (like regular paper) and of course doesn’t mix well with water. From what I’ve seen, their properties are special for blending on non-porous surfaces and using special blending solvents (or regular alcohol) to spread them. I’ve only just started experimenting with it. Let me know how yours turns out if you try it....
I got it a few years ago. Not sure what company as the packaging is gone but it is called an ink blending brush. I have tried to find them with no luck.
Sometimes you have to really "scrub" the watercolors with the wet brush to get the pigments activated or turned loose. And I love that brush. Have you said what kind it is? I maybe missed that.
It is one of those brushes we got years ago that are really used for ink distressing. I am thinking they were from Prima. They came in three sizes. Thank you so much for the helpful info. And thanks for watching.
Eve, SHAME ON YOU! Now, I have to go play and get sidetracked from my current projects. More techniques, oh my, how fun is that? Thanks for sharing! I make my own distress ink using brown chalk paint. It turns out great and a bottle will last forever, if it didn’t dry out. Lol. Hugs 🤗
Crap. I tried this technique this morning..without watching this video . I hate the taste of coffee. But hubby loves coffee. He uses , oh lord, no idea what u call it, he puts hot water in his cup and just spoons the coffee grounds in and stir. I took a spray bottle 1/2 full of water and put the coffee grounds in it. And shake. 😥
I am sitting here in my craft room coloring paper with you. Thank you for showing these techniques. I really enjoy your videos.
This is the most useful tutorial on RUclips!
I love the smell of coffee and the smell of cooked tea. Always have.
Thank you! Dip dying would leave me with very sore legs, but last night I died index cards, notebook paper, tracing paper, graph paper and the backs of some one sided scrapbook paper, love the way it gets rid of bright white!
I truly than God for finding you. You are a blessing!
Thank you so much. I am so glad it helped you. Blessing to you.
I boil avocado peelings, they turn orange, and I use that for dye.
I use food color. Few drops in water with very good result. Cheaper than ink where I live.
Great information very useful.
Oh my I will never color papers the same again!
I can relate to Whit not liking the coffee smell,I love coffee but can’t stand the smell of tea . I love this idea thanks for this tutorial Edith
Thank You!
I love this idea !!!

Marcia Taylor I love that idea. Thanks! Hugs 🤗
Susie's Craftroom...have fun.

This is a nice easy way to use up old paints. Thanks for so many wonderful ideas.🤗
Thanks for showing us how you color your papers.
This is really interesting and looks like a lot of fun. Thanks.
Oh wonderful tips! I have some watercolour palates to use up! I love pastel so it should work best for me. Thank you!
This is such a great way to dye papers. Thanks for all the great ideas you have❤️
What a fun technique. It was relaxing to watch. I bet the metallic pages are going to be amazing! Can't wait to see them! Thanks for sharing.
oo, thank you so much for this idea :)
Love this idea!
I will definitely give this a try...

You. An give it a go. Nothing to loose but I think it will work.

Great!
Spectra Art Tissue makes incredible colors on paper!
I take tea bags and putting them in a shallow container that a sheet of paper can fit and place the tea bags and hot water for a few days
Color with a washable market on plastic wrap then spritz with water.... mush it and press paper on it too. Or make the alcohol ink like the other viewer said
this looks so much easier than standing over the oven, lol Thanks Judy
awww shucks! i already threw some pads away. i’ll have to look for more. thank you🙏🏼 your videos are very appreciated ❣️
I will be working on this soon😊 Thanks for the inspiration 💛
Thank you. I really like this better than dipping the paper, it’s not as messy..
Can you use food coloring to dye papers?
I freeze my blueberries and then defrost them in the water and then use the water to color my paper and eat the blueberries!!! Heheh
do you leave them on each other as you have panted the?
Just ordered those paints and can hardly wait for them to come! Thank you! 🥰
I use the pearescnts paints in my watercolor pinting they are so beautiful. I cannot wait to try using them to dye papers.
Hello Edith, yes you need a few drops of water and let those paint sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Never tried the markers . I watched a video on it. I felt it was too messy. Need good gloves.
E, For me this is so much easier could doilies be done the same way ? 🌺
yes I do doilies this way too. Thanks so much
Another very strong dye to use is party streamers! Soak a small piece in water and go! You can also lay pieces on the paper to make designs. Question....do you add baking soda to your coffee before applying (supposed to decrease acidity)? TYFS ❤️🦋💜
No I never have. Thanks so much.
Id love some that would smell tho. Maybe cinnamon or pine smell like for christmas.
I have some Vodka. Could I soak my old ink pads with that.
Using the metallic watercolours would be a practical and less messy way of having glittery paper without using glitter.
Hi E Going through all your old videos today :) So useful xo ~ Edith have you tried powdered Rit Dye ? I havent yet, sorry if you already said that, just 1/3 of the way through the video :)

If there are any left you can find them in our store the link is below the video. Thank you.
I probably missed it in a previous video but I'm intrigued by your brush. Where can I find it?
I have looked and looked and I can’t seem to find them. These are a few years old. They are called ink blending brushes. But I love them for this. They hold a lot of water and ink.
Does the type of brush matter? Please
No you can use any kind. Even a paint brush for the house.
What do you make with this dyed copy paper?
I use them for everything. Check back through my videos and you will see projects I make with them.
What do u use the dyed papers for? Is it just plain copy papers? Where do u get your paper bags?
Yes it is just plain copy paper. And I use them for many things. Pages in my journals, backings on tags and such and creating clusters. Lots of uses. And I have a link under the video in the description on the large brown bags.
What paper do you use? Please. I’m learning
Just regular copy paper

Love this idea. Seems like a brush would be the best way to dye paper instead of dunking the paper in a container. Be safe & TYFS
I have some old dried up ink pads that I don’t use, but now I can use them to die my papers. Thank you Edith. By the way, what kind of brush are you using?
It is called an ink blending brush. I have looked everywhere for them but I am not sure they make them anymore. I am sorry I tried to find the link.
Scrapbooking With ME Crafts thank you for trying. I can’t wait to try coloring some pages. My ex-husband, the father of my children passed yesterday and my mind has been on everything but crafting today.
Is the paper bags u r using thin or thick.
They are thin. I have them linked below the video if you want to read about them. Thanks so much.
Would craft paper work the same?
I have seen video with markers but she dyed her white glitter to make different colors.
You should have T-shirts--that say---I don't mind that...
Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I will be trying this, l have questions have you ever used them to print on? and do you leave them stake on to of one other to dry, and what about alcohol ink, thank you again
I do leave them stacked on top of one another until they dry. Then they just come apart. I haven’t tried alcohol ink but I am sure it would work.
@@SCRAPBOOKINGWITHMECRAFTS thank you

But you said you don't like the coffee smell, i baked mine they are coffee dyed but they don't smell.
What kind of paper are you using? 20 lb or heavier?
These are just 20lb. But I have some that I have dyed that are heavier.
What kind of paper did you use for this technique? Josie G.-P.
Just regular copy paper.
Lol. Hugs 🤗

And it turned out pretty good. On the light side. But. Not bad.
Now to fine my typing paper.!!!
