16 Philly Cheesesteaks in 12 Hours. Which Is the Best? | Bon Appétit - Хобби
I love how he actually gives criticism unlike the buzzfeed guys who just pretend to orgasm every time
Piano Roots Music yeah but its all good
but the buzzfeed people are just 'regular' guys out eating good food, so naturally they're gonna enjoy it more than a food critic who understands it a lot more
Not everyone is good at their job, including food critics. What is a food critic? You are a food critic just as much as a "food critic". A food critic is just an opinion. Some people like the steak raw.... they are food critics just the same as the super well done burnt steak critics. It's all superficial and money driven.
Buzzfeed? Ewww only silly people watch that show
The Buzzfeed boiz themselves said that they are not picky people when it comes to food and there have been instances when they didn'r rave at all. So I would say they don't normally pretend, they just have low standards.
can I just say that the content on BA's youtube channel is truly unmatched??? so much to watch, and everyone has their own amazing personalities that come through. love it so much! keep up the great work
Well put
so obsessed!
@Jimmy How does Obama have anything to do with that? Literally signed an executive order legalizing propaganda...
@Jimmy cheesy
are you sure? they're better than something like buzzfeed, but smaller channels like munchies and thrillist are way better imo. Many BA videos seem very low effort, much like the magazine
Oh god, Delany's dad wore a fricking suit. My heart can't handle this much cuteness.
He's so happy to be part of his son's show!
looked to me like a guy takin lunch and eatin with his son.
he's an attorney in the area so he was probably working lol
I don't think he put on the suit for the video, I think he was working
thats excactly what i thought !! so heartwarming
SO cute that his dad was the special guest, what a wholesome twist, he looked at his son with such pride and love!
STFU
I loved that.
So adorable and I love when a son is a copy and paste of the Dad - so sweet!
I like this, he establishes what HE is looking for in the steaks, not just saying “This is the best one out of all”. Everyone’s taste and preferences vary, so this was enjoyable to see.
Yeah man I totally agree. It was refreshing.
I agree, I personally like Dalessandro's because they have that more finely chopped meat and the melted American gets all up in there. Good onions, too.
TheFuriousBear Agree! I grew up in Delaware County south of Philly and all cheesesteak places used American cheese. No whiz for me...unless I’m in Philly!
jackpast suburban cheesesteaks are the worst. Total crap. Might as well make a steakum feed it to your cat, then heat it up with some American and share with your suburban therapist.
marxxmann Nothing wrong with a Schlitz beer and a porttorhouse. Wiz wit is the classic. Everything else is a bastardized version for suburban kids.
After eating 16 steaks you could say missteaks were made
No way he eat all of them. A few bites and toss more likely
Lol
yes
Tim de Boer no just no.
That was a real “cheesy” joke
Bon Appetit is legit getting me through this isolation time. I can’t eat anything delicious but I can watch other people do it ALL DAY LONG!!!
idk why, but I keep coming back to these Alex Eats videos every so often
Oh boy,this didn’t age well
You might have some daddy issues
Yea those government lockdowns sucked…
John's is consistently on the top of so many Philly Sandwich reviewers. I guess the guy is doing his stuff right.
It's cool he got his dad on the show, I was expecting some forced guest I didn't care about so that was sweet
Nicolle crazy nobody replied to this, figured id be the first
Listen to the way his dad talks. Its obviously he is from the Delaware Valley. Thats why his dad was on there. You have to be from the area to understand.
Dude how does he come up with perfect names everytime
MD native, I went to Woodrow's Sandwich Shop after seeing this and it was hands down, no contest, the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had. I owe you lunch, at the very least. Thanks for doing these awesome videos!
Delaney’s dad is so proud of his son. The way he looks at him is so adoringly and disbelieving, it’s just like “I can’t believe I made this smart, articulate, sweet kid who’s really chased his dreams, I’m so proud of him.” Brings a tear to the eye.
Yeah but he's cancelled now so what does that say about his smart, articulate & sweet kid?
@@whooelse9444 lol. Right his “cancelling.” As if jokingly using a few slurs is grounds to stop loving your son. Or grounds for me to stop appreciating Alex for the clearly sweet and caring person he is Lolol
@@tomatoesandradiowire482 if you say so buddy 🙄🙄🙄
@@whooelse9444 so you think delany’s father shouldn’t be proud of his son for being smart articulate or sweet just because of a few dumb offensive joking tweets?
@@tomatoesandradiowire482 his pops is his pops so of course he's gonna stick up for his son but other than that, nobody with sense would cape for him. He may have been "joking" but something tells me that he behaves that way on the regular.
Only winner here is the guy getting to eat all the cheesesteaks.
Ape man Commeth source?
Also just the vendors, the camera crew, the sound editors, the viewers, the plumbers, the video editors, the commenters etc etc etc...
*The list of those just few involved goes on for a few thousand miles*

I wish they would do more of these Alex eats it all .. such a good series
I would love to see him do California Burritos in San Diego. Or maybe Teriyaki in Seattle.
Yes! Nico’s in OB and Rudy’s are my faves
Po boys in New Orleans would be great

As a Philadelphian, im a little angry he didn’t go to Max’s. That has to be THE biggest steak spot in Philly
or angelos
Because the folks who are in north philly isnt his target audience.
He didn't want to get shot by an uzi
@@whooelse9444 I tried looking up the Uzi shooting and came to find out there have been several shootings there in the past 2 years!
that's fact . it's cool are rich with culture
What happen to Alex eats it all? Where are all the places he NEEDS to go!?!?!?
Bon Appétit is about to start a streaming service, so we'll see if it continues.
@@stanwright9541 hope so!!!
Homemade Cheese Whiz is the way to go. You have so much more control and creativity over it. I like that Woodrow's did that.
Tucker Mathis you can make it home made?? Is there somewhere you can point me to?
That's not Cheesewhiz fool! That's a 3 Cheese Béchamel Truffle Sauce.
vonslagle I mean, if you want to get technical, a Béchamel sauce with cheese is called Mornay, and it's usually made with Gruyère. So you're right, it's not Cheese Whiz, my mistake. Personally, I like the fact that they put truffle oil in the recipe.
Tucker Mathis don't apologize to him. Cheese whiz is American Mornay. Thanks for giving me a lead
As many people have already said, this guy did a great job and should keep doing more of these
"Are ppl shouting at us?" summs up philly pretty nice

i'm just a little concerned about his health lol
When you only got 12 hours to live
Excellent tour, description of each steak, high production values, kept it simple and to-the-point. And I like nicknaming each steak. Too bad BA has fallen apart; this is what a food channel can and should do.
Had Tony Luke’s once about 10 years ago and I still remember it. Amazing.
I'm actually concerned for the health of this man
Provolone cheese over fake cheese every day. Although, I do agree on the bun - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
@King Savage I'd rather have real actual cheese than toxic waste.
@King Savage Uh no. That's a pretty cancerous worldview.
I love provolone.. and we all have our preferences, but that's not the "real" cheesesteak. WHIZ is how it was originally, so Alex is doing this correctly.
@King Savage If you don't like the taste of provolone whatever, but you know it is specifically used because it's a good melting cheese
As a Castilian man, and as a European man, I have a hard time understanding the culinary traditions of Americans. Why is it always so dumbed down, brash and over-exaggerated, and finally completely lacking with nuance and sophistication. Cheese wiz? I've never even heard of that vile looking gel looking thing. And those wonderbread loafs, aren't for human consumption. The city looks pretty unappealing too, seems to have very little cultural activity. Fat bald guys working on their cars and people shooting each other with pistols. What a life.
I'd go with Woodrow's, Tony Luke's or Dallesandro''s.
Pats and Geno's seem to be tourist traps.
He out here buying two whole sandwiches at each place and wonders why he’s feeling groggy and full 😂
I doubt he's finishing each one, probably giving them to the crew to eat
Meat sweats. 😄😄
That would be like 30,000 calories if he was eating both lol
It's for him and the other guy that's driving him.
Steve's Prince of Steaks...
I was wondering why he didn’t go there throughout the entire video😭😕
Rip this dudes pants that fit him this morning
I was noticing they are a bit nut hugging. Wait until that 16th steak hits that gut, and they may become leotards.
LOL 😕😀😁😖😆🤣
Was driving through Philly late and stopped at Tony Luke's because of this video. So good! Thanks BA!
"Tony Lukes, that place doesn't exist anywhere else, because it can't exist anywhere else"--- come visit one of our 9 locations.
Lmfao
Lol yeah I had one when I was in NY a couple years ago
Just had one at horseshoe casino in baltimore
We need more videos with Alex. One of my favorite bon appetit hosts.
Mom and pops stores that’s where you find the best food hands down.
I’m from Philadelphia and I love how we’re well known for our cheesesteaks
Steve’s Prince of Steaks from NE philly are the best
Jocelyn Imburgia agreed 150%
i’m late to the party.. if not steve’s #2 is stolis
Max’s is super underrated, I didn’t have it all my life growing up in south philly, maxes reigns king
dmack47yo i’m gonna be in town to visit soon and keep hearing about it, is it a must eat
I love these videos. The nicknames are fantastic. Give me more videos like this!
I like this video a lot. It’s honest, clean, and very original. He goes to a lot of the ones that most people like, and this video inspired me to go to Philadelphia and see if I agree with him!
It's funny that in this series or the "try everything on the menu" series, Alex becomes noticeably more critical of the food once he is full.
Tony lukes is my favorite. I've had pats and genos. I agree what you said between pats and genos 100%.
Jim's was my favourite when I visited Philly. Coming from Australia, there's nothing like a Philly cheesesteak.
Sometimes I watch this show and I get weirdly sentimental about how Delaney says something nice about every place. Like, it might not be his favorite stacked up against the others, but there's a time and a place for each restaurant to make good memories.
Been in philly my whole life and never heard of at least 10 of those places Steve’s prince of steaks is the best hands down
Steve's very good, better than almost all on this list ... but I agree with dude ... Tony Luke's (Oregon Ave location) is the best, not to mention the widest variety on menu .. and best cherry peppers on the planet. Must be Oregon Ave location, KOP and CBPark locations just ...no.
Steve's Prince of Steaks. Trust me.
Instant Ramen How could he skip!?
I don’t understand how they didn’t put that in😫
Instant Ramen yep it’s the best
It's always getting over looked
He missed out on the best in the city, Steve's
The feeling when you are watching this guy eat delicious food and tell yourself that one day you are going to eat that. Then you remember that you are lactose intolerant.
Lactaid my friend it is a lactose intolerant persons dream.
I think some lactose intolerant people can actually eat cheese because the bacteria consume some of the lactose in the milk when converting it to cheese.
Get the vegan steak
Cheese whiz is barely cheese tbh
So cool you brought your dad out with you. He must be proud with how well you're doing!
Pizza steak, whiz, witout was my lunch today at Jim's on South St. Never disappoints.
Bro! You need more vids like this!
BA has such quality videos idk how they aren’t bigger!!
@BonAppetit I love Alex eats it all! When will we see more, and can Alex handle a deep dish pizza challenge? 😂
Please bring this show back.
Montreal and poutine next?
Steve's Prince of Steaks is the best! How did you not go there?
Cute that he brought his friends and family along, especially his dad! Cute!
Respect for trying the vegan spot too!
wiz kid steaks are incredible. i need at least 3 per visit
If they ever do a 2nd crack at this, they need blackbird pizzerias cheesesteak. My dad who is like 90% meat in his diet said it was the best cheesesteak he ever had. And it's vegan too.
Did you guys know Ralph and Ricky's that he mentioned on here is out of business I wanted to find it and check it out and it said on Google maps perminatly closed
Wiz is ok but nothin beats the south philly nice n salty provolone on mine, perfect combo
Oh my! That’s a lot of heart attacks. But probably worth it. 😊👨🍳👍
Lmao
always worth it!

Probably went running a whole lot.
That's why the ambulance was following him towards the end.
this kid is grade A...very in depth and let's us know how he REALLY feels..we need more of that in this world
You should get a medal for eating all those in one day. Great video!
The dad seems like he wanted to say "When are you getting a real job?". I respect that. Haha
His Dad looks like one of those Jersey or South Philly people for lifers lol.
Went to Johns on saturday, was blown away with the quality, also cool of them to offer mild and sharp provolone. Wish I could recreate it in western NY.
This is probably one of my all time favorite youtube videos
You know what they say "save the best for last" I went to dalessandros and my God it has the best philly cheese steak I've ever had
You need to try some other spots, Dalessandros is mediocre
John’s Roast Pork! John’s Roast Pork! John’s Roast Pork!
He didn't do provolone, though. Dude dropped the ball.

Jim's at 4th & South is the BEST traditional Cheesesteak in Philly! No question about it. It's pure and simple.
Man how did you forget Steve’s prince of steaks! That is the best steak there is I can put money on that
awesome video. watched this while i ate breakfast. felt like i was spooning milky cheese steaks into my mouth.
The dog barking at 12:19 made my dog bark! Communicating across oceans
I haven't been to everywhere on your list, but Jim's has always been my personal favorite
I lived in Philly for 26 years and I never been to Tony Luke's. Why? They close too early! Most of my cheesesteaks were consumed after last call, which is 2 AM in Pennsylvania. I always liked Jim's because they sell bottled beer, and that was always nice before seeing a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the TLA down the street. Maybe I'll try Tony Luke's when I'm down in Wildwood Crest next summer. I remember when Pat's tried franchising in the 70's and that was so sad. If I'm in the mood for provolone, I'll go to Geno's. Before I die, I want to go back to Pat's and stand in the spot they have marked where Sylvester Stallone stood during ROCKY.
Dame I'm starving now. Thank you Philly for making these heavenly delicious sandwiches
Ive been wanting a cheesesteak for years. But living in a country where they are not served (sweden) i finally made my own the other day. And man oh man, its the best thing created on this earth.
Definitely useful, especially as someone about to use a flat top grill for the first time.
$7.50 is the cheapest and it's not even close? jesus christ how expensive were the others?
wiiztec a good steak can easily get up to $12.
@@Krymsin-Zombie You must be at the tourist spots. Many are in this video. $4 -5 is avg. Is most local places.

Cleavers is for sure my favorite; been going there with my dad the last 4 years we've been in Philly. Amazing and their spicy one with a boozy milkshake is the perfect way to get ready for gameday
I grew up in CT, where legends of pizza, lobster roll and hamburger were born and I had no idea how lucky I was as a kid. Actually living there instead of just visiting made me realize that some unknown clam shack spot or local pizzeria actually had better lobster rolls or a white clam pie than the big names, because they cared more and the big guns rested on their laurels long ago. Maybe 10 years ago my wife and I got sandwiches at Geno's, and we both met eyes on first bite and I could immediately tell we were thinking the same thing. The local corner shop has a cheesesteak that's 100x better for the same price, and our local daily-baked stack of italian loaf is like 15 inches long and loaded with chopped steak, cheese, slowly sauteed peppers/onions to the point of being too large to eat with your hands. You gotta come through early to get the bread, because old school Syrian Grandma only makes a few big batches of incredible bread before her soaps start at noon and she retires for the day, and the spot is no secret. I usually get two "full-steak" sandwiches at 8am once a month, stop back home to put them in the fridge, head to work, reheat them in the tinfoil wrap later at 170 for an hour (I get home an hour earlier than my wife) and that night's dinner is done, with a lunch/snack of my wife's leftover the next day. So much better than my experience at Geno's, and it's there every day if I was so inclined. The grandsons that run the day-to-day also make a bomb-huge falafel wrap with an insanely good tangy white sauce that has a touch of minced bread-n-butter pickle that should be bottled to share with the world.
Ayo, nice to see my city so well represented!
Anthony Cedrone 🗣PHILLY
Yeah. Gives me a bunch of nostalgia. My favorite cheesesteak when I lived in Philly was Angelo's (a small cart by Liberty Place). Dude had such good quality steaks, fresh amoroso rolls, and even had amazing breakfast, but sadly Angelo passed away a few years ago.
Love this dude, love this show great job guys more episodes plz!!

Eric Dvotsky yess brooo I go there all the time
I just got done with a trip to Philly. I only got to visit 4 spots of Pats, Geno’s, Woodrows, and Tony Luke’s. Let me tell y’all Tony Luke’s is literally perfect. Perfect crispy bread but soft inside, cheese is all without and the bite is the same with every single one. The meat tastes well, and the customer service is on point. My rankings Tony Luke’s, Woodrows, Pats, Genos
You nailed it. Tony’s and John’s. Dead heat. 🔥
I have heard the best place to get a good cheesesteak is a small corner pizzeria type place. This video basically confirms that for me.
You forgot ishkabibbles my guy and you were on south street , and you could have went to a poppy store 😂🤦🏾♂️
yeah Id go Tony Lukes off of looks a lone that just looks like a perfect roll and a well executed composition of quality meat, cheese, and onions. Woodrow's looks nice but its like i'm getting the 5 star version of street food which i'd probably do once and wonder why i didn't just get an actual steak dinner.
We just found the perfect Philly cheesesteak thanks to this video inspiring us
Sonny’s was soooo good , I’m glad he included them on this list. 🤤
You went to the touristy spots but also hit up some of the city's favorites. Some will argue with you because you left out their favorite neighborhood spots, but you had some great spots in there.
Cleavers is a great up and coming spot in Rittenhouse that you should try next time you're in town.
Jimmy Kim which two would you hit up? I was thinking cleaver's and paesano's. Should we try Steve's/Joe's/dalessandro's as well? If so, which?
I agree, hit mad tourist spots and left out some jems but made some redeeming strides with some great spots.
Such a shame you didn't go to Steve's Prince of Steaks. You should definitely try it and in my opinion, you should try their American Cheese instead of Whiz, the American is melted just like the Whiz and their rolls have great texture and the meat is cut in perfect slabs. Tony Luke's is my second favorite steak, Steve's is my first. You won't be disappointed.
Michael M I loved Steve's provolone. Try it next time. For provolone, John's is the best, dalessandro and Steve's depending on mood for style (both provolone).
@@ohdaUtube agree completely- the sharp provolone at John’s, that’s the real deal. Whiz is for tourists.
