Because the original song was about a very specific event and these new lyrics are not. Which does somewhat lessen their effect. The original was about the war in the North of Ireland and specifically about a bombing that took place in England the year they wrote the song. This is more generically a war is bad song. Which isn't terrible but you can understand how changing the lyrics can be seen as a bit missing the point.

I feel like the acoustic version captures the emotion far better. I feel this way about most acoustic versions though. Just listen to the acoustic version of The Hand that Feeds by Nine Inch Nails.

Considering that this was the band that got me into hard rock and metal music, it’s fucking amazing to hear the opposite type of music made so amazingly. One of the most diverse rock and metal bands out there - change my mind.
I saw them last Friday... this song meant so much to me personally, and to the crowd too. The reaction was incredible, everyone sang their hearts out. This cover means so much more too because we know Dolores wanted to be a part of it. May she rest easy...

Lol so many hate comments about this cover. Clearly they didn't read WHY they made the cover. They have many great songs that could also be hits but this one is getting the most attention because the cranberries were well known and suffered a great loss.

Exactly! I'm not gonna lie, this cover sounds EXACTLY like The Cranberries, just different singers. It's so crazy it sent chills down my spine. They performed this live and talked about Dolores, I'm proud of them and i'm proud people still know about Dolores instead of just throwing it over their shoulder. I just hate how people are bashing them for covering this and making it a tribute, like??? At least their paying their respects and giving ALL the money they get from this song to her three children??? What other celebrity or band does that sort of stuff?

I feel kinda bad that because of the success of this cover, almost nothing else of their gets any attention. I honestly don't think there is a single bad song on the album. Sure, right now they mostly sound like the bands their members were from. But I think once their form their own identity they could be amazing.

It doesn't take much researching to learn the story behind the band and this particular song. I meant it isn't *just* a cover, there's much more behind it.

That was the original plan. If you watch the original cover, they say it was going to be a reboot with Dolores, but that was the day she died, so they did it as a tribute and gave the earnings to her family. I agree with you, I think it would have been epic if it had worked out.

I loved the first cover, and I loved seeing how Bad Wolves got so much attention so quickly after its release. But considering they just put an album out, I feel like this cover wasn't necessary. I would've liked to see something like this with their new material, but this is still nice.
