I’m 18 years old rn. I watched this video as a kid at 7 and 8 years old. I saw as that kid grew up to be part of the military. It inspired me as a kid to do the same one day. And here I am now, about 2 weeks out from boot camp for the Marine Corps. It’s a dream of mine since I was a kid to do something so great. I won’t let my younger self down
I joined the Army to be a firefighter, and right out of basic I remember watching a video about military firefighting school. This song was used in the video. Nearly everyday when I would wake up at 0345, I would listen to this to prepare me for the day. It gave me motivation at a weird time in my life, especially since I saw so many people around me fail. My thanks goes out to Linkin Park for that!

Linkin Park will never be the same again. I started listening to them because of my uncle when i was in my teens. No one understood my fascination since i was a muslim girl. But because of them i started playing the drums. I dont know how i will continue to listen to their music truely very emotional.

Chester is alive everytime I find myself in a situation he foresaw and/or described when I was a kid and I started listening to LP, he was a model, and still is to this day. I have a lot of mental health issues, he kept me afloat and even if I cry just hearing his voice today, I still take his words very seriously.

Found our from my father that one of my great grandfather's cousins who he enlisted with in ww2 died in that war. I feel this small speck of sadness. Ofc i never knew him but its a horrible way to go and this song definitely reminds me of him. I knew my great grandfather and he reacued a platoon from a sinking ship on fire but couldn't save our cousin. I just think that i should have been told this sooner.

Ya know... This song meant a lot when it came out. It meant more when Chester left us. I never, until today, watched the video. Growing up in a military family, you know when a soldier walks up in dress, it's not good news. And here, today, the music video makes it mean even more. I remember getting a phone call from my best friend and it felt like a shotgun through the heart. It's weird how a music video can make a song that already mean so much, mean more. Thank you Linkin Park for the great video. But an even bigger thank you for giving me music for almost 25 years that have helped me through the bad times.

You're so right. I'm an Army MilBrat & the only issue I have with the video is that it appears that Navy officer is making the notification to a young child & that is wrong. It should have been to an adult parent/ spouse with the kids there etc.

Every time I listen to this, I feel a terrible urge to bite a hole through my lip as I recall my years growing up in the military community. This remains my second favorite song all these years later, and I will always appreciate Linkin Park for bringing ALL of THIS out. I have no further words to describe how this makes me feel, or how dearly I adore the band.
I had to come to this song to pay my respects to the legend we lost today. You sir Chester Bennington were a mentor, and prodigy in the music industry. May your soul rest in peace. My condolences to your family and friends and band LinknPark.
