- Dolores O'Riordan, singer and frontwoman of the Irish band The Cranberries, has died suddenly at the age of 46. "Zombie" is one of the band's biggest hits, written as a protest song and a memorial to two young boys killed in The Troubles in Northern Ireland. I think only the Russian girl understood the emotion of the song. It's a deeply political, historical and emotionally charged song for Irish people and she nailed it.

The IRA set off a bomb in Warrington, Cheshire, England outside of shops. It's pretty charged for all. Especially for Johnathan Ball (3 yr) and Tim Parry (12 yr). Three-year-old Johnathan Ball had been in town with his babysitter, shopping for a Mother's Day card.
I think the Russian girl was the best of the bunch, but I wouldn't say she understood the emotion of the song. The song isn't filled with wrath and ire, there is anguish there too. Russian girl sounded like a fighter, and the song is strongly opposing that.

Maybe I'm projecting, but I feel like the difference between the Daria and everyone else is that everyone else picked a song that they thought they thought fit their voiced range well and they could play with. Daria sounds like she picked a song that she genuinely loves, and you can hear it with how passionately she sings it compared to everyone else. That's why it stands out.

Who is she?
The Russian woman, the first performer in my opinion.... Was by far, the best one for a few reasons. First of all, she was so passionate about the song, and she made sure others did too. She sang it with pure, raw heart because she knew exactly what the meaning of the song was... which is my reason #2... The song about war, political history, and the many lives lost because of it.. making it a very deep and powerful song... Which requires a strong and powerful voice and performance to do it justice. Most people sing it as if it's a love song... which it is NOT! And my last reason is because she put her own unique twist on it, one that works very well! Not only with the metal genre, but the energy she had in it. It was almost as if she was rebelling against the sad reality of the song. Dolores would be so proud of her!
The first performer screamed in a terrible voice. But this song must be sung, not yelled. In my opinion, another girl, also from Russia, sang better. Better than anyone in this video. Her name is Marina Kravets (Марина Кравец). You can watch it here.

As a dutchie from a irish mother and a dutch father. They met on his vacation. He stayed for a couple of years. I can say she absolutely did. And I really felt that. My father was a firefighter and was called in to the actual incident on march 20 1993 at warrington. He was badly injured getting people out of the rubble ... not many people understand the actual meaning of this song. My parents actually made the decision to move back to Holland after the recovery. But for Ireland this was a huge thing. IRA didn’t lay down their arms untill 2005.
I wasn't even born at that point. I came one year later on march 9 1994. Darya absolutely nailed it.
The Russian girl was amazing, it's totally different from the rest. Her version is the best in my opinion, but I also like the young voice of the second singer from The Netherlands.

Daria the russian girl is a rockster she has phenomenal energy...she just did what she does best...she didn’t care about the judges at all...and her movements are those of a real hardcore rockstar...she is the best..
She struggled way too much with pronounciation. When the words are so important then you need to understand them. She had a great voice, amazing energy. But the english ruined it for me

Russia was my favorite she killed it, she showed emotion and really connected with the song. And most importantly she was loud and wasn’t quiet. She was herself. I love that.

David Mm I think people are overlooking that one too much for the truer style match of the first one. The lines each of the Belgian girls sang is so perfectly suited to each of their voices and slight style differences and is easily a top notch rendition of the original

I doubt You were able to listen to all of her songs in Slot and Nuki (Nooki).. She is the author and co-author of more than 200 songs, at 11 LP.
