2020 GT500 DYNO (& REVIEW) VS. GT350 WHIPPLE SUPERCHARGER DYNO AT BRENSPEED
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 дек 2019
- Today I dyno a 2020 GT500 and compare the graphs to a GT350 that is Whipple Supercharged. A lot of you say a GT350 with a Whipple is a much better bargain than a GT500 so lets compare the power and see how the new GT500 drives.

Still...the sound of that GT350 ( 7:18 )...unequaled!!
George Boros yes very bad ass sounding. Thanks!
Absolutely !
Raspy, not muscle car
Fast_GT500&Nova_SS agreed
@@ShaneSVT honestly hate how some of the tuned v8s sound so raspy and somehow people like how they sound
The gt350 sounds better IMO, love that flat plane engine noise 👍🏼.
Artie Rodriguez me too, and I cringe every time I hit 8k on those.
There’s more to the Gt500 than just power and there’s still tuning room on the Gt500. With the crazy markups on the Gt500, the GT350 with a Whipple is a lot more attainable. The trans in the Gt500 is hard to beat.

Antoine Swans thanks for the comment!
@@BrenspeedEngineering is that the rapid red color.
Antoine Swans yes it is
@@BrenspeedEngineering I love it I just had put a special order in for a 2020 gt350R in rapid red too. I should be receiving it around march or april.
What color is that on gt500
Yay! This was the head to head comparison I was waiting for!
Glad you like it!
Thanks for all the views and positive feedback on the car. It truly is an amazing machine! Brenspeed great video and hope we can get a little more in-depth on another one. Id like you to get a little more drive time, as I believe you to be a true and reputable driver. Just a quick plug, THANK YOU AutoPark Ford of Bremen!! This GT500, one of many vehicles you sold me is unbelievable.
THANKS JAMES!
Best evaluation of the new GT500 so far. Thanks again
And thanks for watching!
I cannot wait to see someone do a pulley tune and LONG tube headers. I predict an easy 1k at the crank. Love your review btw. Now subscribed.
One of the best 2020 500 reviews yet. 👍🏻
Thanks Nick.
350 for me, they just sexier to me.
Super great content I think the thing I like most about this video is how conservative you was driving the car you hit on it a little bit checked it out that was that you're the kind of person a person would like to leave their car with if I owned a car like that unless it was someone I think I would worry about it till I got it back cuz you just don't know anyway thanks for the share cool video kudos
Thanks for the kind comment!
Is that Arrest Me Red, love it. Ford had it on its side at SEMA so everyone could study it without craning your neck
Thanks for making this fantastic video brah!
No problem thanks!
Thank you for this video!!!! I was waiting for someone credible to review one. And you not only did that but dynoed it too. Brentspeed for the win! 🤙🏾 sick car indeed. I’m drooling
MrQuickPick Hartford, CT nah fam
david martin thanks David!
martin speed phenom did show 705 STD and brenspeed showed 702hp
BlueCollarDaily I believe Brentspeed tho. So I waited til they got one. Waiting on Lund now
@@downhilldaddy9346 lund has one already done ghost cam tune on it...and in fact sent me a file to try today for ghost cam lol....
But Bren does backup Speed Phenoms findings no shame in being second he also validates dude... speed phenom should get a boost in credibility now!!!!! And the fact that kid hit 10.6s never having been down a strip wow great car!!!
Not gonna lie, I was a hater when it was first revealed because of the knob shifter but after seeing Speed phenom run it, I am SUPER impressed. I do think Ford should have added a heads up display by now, especially to the new GT500.
That car looks amazing! Especially in that color! Would be interested to see a side by side with the GT500 vs the GT350. Just to see the time difference lap to lap and pass to pass. Another decision to make when building the car.
We know the GT500 would be quicker but how much quicker and how much power would be needed and how good would the driver need to be quicker or on par with the GT500.
James Vasser the GT350 is a little bit lighter then the GT500 when you look at power you got to look at many variables and power to weight ratio is also a key aspect of a car definitely when these to are almost identical
just remember the GT500 weights in at about 4250 with no driver the GT350 is right around 3900 lbs est
I do agree that there needs to be a side-by-side comparison run at the track because the transmission honestly is the one of the key differences
Great video! Very good review and super honest
Thanks Mammoth.
the gt350 has a custom tune. Tune the gt500 and see what it does!
E.j. Lucas it won’t be the same lol just based on the compression difference alone
E.j. Lucas yes will be cool to see how they respond. Thanks!
Lethal's has only made 714 with a 93 tune. Seems like Ford's factory tune is pretty on point.
the sound of the gt350 alone makes it better rofl but they make the same power 350 can be rung out more because flatplane.
Christopher Weaver flat plane crack is a real weak point in the GT350. Just saying
Good stuff Brent, bet you can't wait to tweak it. Gotta be more HP left on the table.
Video should've been 13:20 long
Can I be Frank damn that would have been sweet.

Great Video Brent. Loved it!
Edward Launay thanks !
What a car that color and sound coming out the exhaust dammm 🤤🤤
Thanks Gilbert!
Someone else weighed this car, it's 4080lbs (rated 4200lbs). I watched another dyno video and it made 690-705whp which is right in line with this video. This car traps 132-135mph in the 1/4 mile. Just to put it in perspective if I did a VMP supercharger+E85 and made 700whp, I'd trap around 127-130mph, and if weigh in around 3800-3900lbs, a little less. That GT500 puts that power down extremely well.
The GT500 is still stock! Pulley, Longtubes, and Tune and 800! All day! I am GT350 fanboy. But the 500 is warming my heart.
Drew D'Alesandro sorry to tell you but you don’t get 100 hp from bolt ons e85 maybe but not bolt ons.
Subscribed you did a really good review awesome
jose campos thanks Jose
Great comparison. They're making similar power curves, but two things, that DCT is going to leave that manual GT350 in the dust, secondly the GT500 is under factory warranty.
Love the vid!
THANKS for the comment
GT350 revs higher which equals more power plus its lighter by roughly a couple hundred pounds. Oh and there's the flat-plane crank. GT350 FTW!
Sick review , my favorite so far
Thank you.
And yet the gt500 is still stock soooo yea, can't wait for a tune let alone e85 and no cats 🤤

2019 is a different block then 16-18
billy heaton so there was an issue with these engines prior to 2019? I’ve just recently started looking into the 350 so I’m not caught up in all the ins and outs of it yet.
DCT means a big L for the GT350
@@fread51 re: "2019 is a different block then 16-18" yes but only as a "hand me down" from the GT500 for consolidation of part numbers, and the natural streamlining of the manufacturing process (which all OEM's do). the 350 and 500 goes down the same line at Romeo, and a Ford rep with 500 program even said as much. thus the "idea" that an updated block is intended to solve any warranty problems with 1st generation 350's is simply a speculation/fantasy created in the minds of us consumers. yes, it's speculation/fantasy and one Ford's gladly willing to have us keep thinking cause Ford lawyers know damn well they've never told us this, in fact they've said something totally different. but who knows there's a 50/50 chance it could help...? for just like there's such a thing as "unintended consequences" there is such thing as UNINTENDED BENEFITS but it's rare. technically we won't know the outcome of Gen 2 350's for a while yet.
Stock GT500 vs tuned, supercharged GT350. My concern is internal engine components. From information from Ford. The GT500 Predator is built to handle over 1000 horsepower giving it plenty of room for turning. I'm not sure where the Voodoo tops out. Both are amazing Mustangs that perform and sound amazing. I just think the GT500 moves the Mustang from Sports car to Supercar with it's aero and that amazing dual clutch transmission. I'm waiting to see how it performs on the track compared to the GT350 & Ford GT. Thanks for sharing that beautiful Red GT500. One thing that Speed Phenom mentioned on a recent video that was surprising. He weighed his GT500 and is was just over 4000 lbs. Around 300 lbs less than released by Ford. With the carbon fiber package. The GT500 may weigh in under 4000 lbs. Ford checked all the boxes when they designed the GT500.
Brent, one thing to point out. The GT350 is a factory car with an after market blower that started at 526 hp. The slightly less hp GT500 is coming off the factory floor with 760. So that's the basement reading, before tuning, pulley's or any other after market parts. A $40,000 GT350 with a 10k Whipple, install, and tune is a great deal, but the GT500 is the Alpha.
That's a beautiful bad ass car. The Gt 350 to I'm a mopar guy and I'd buy either one of those.
My very first car was a 1965 Fastback. Looking at this new 500 with a bit of envy. I love my 400+ hp luxury sport coupe, import but this Cobra....wow..nice
Thanks for watching James!
Love the video! Would really love a Whipple on my Gt350 holy smokes!!
Rudy yes the Whipple on a 350 is awesome.
Great review! Love that color
Thanks
I could careless about either but that gt350 sounds glorious.
Omg love the Red and Black
Great comparison. Glad to see these gt500s getting out in the field. The gt350 prob has a better or aftermarket tune on it. Curious to see what the 500 will do when it gets a tune. Should be interesting. Thanx.
Stephen Lane yes will be interesting to see
Gt500 should have the 10 speed in gt500 for real
That colour 😍
Over MSRP thanks for watching.
That a nice color 😍😍😍😍
If I had the money, this would be in my garage. Love everything about it!👌👍
Agreed!
@brenspeed can you look at those side skirt winglet extensions, would they fit a 350 side skirt?. It seems they use the bolt holes, but would love to confirm.
0-60 in 3.3 is mindblowing
Glorious sounds to go with those #s
hamid malik it’s music. Thanks for watching!
Love the comparison!!! Do you think pulley/e85 tune will crack over 800 wheel and hit 140mph traps? Would be insane!!!!
Walter Macknight I didn’t log how much spark it ran, but that would be cool.
Brenspeed check the air/fuel ratio. It’s likely running under 11. Very rich meaning plenty of fuel for more boost & tune
In my opinion I would never spend over $70,000 on a mustang at all GT500 is over priced I rather get a GT350 and Work it.
Brenspeed does the right thing excellent work and worth every penny.
I would like to see them install Procharger on the GT350.
I want both, but really rather have the C8. That platform will make some leaps amongst the industry
Great Video
Definitely different levels of performance. Awesome job by Ford on both platforms. I’d definitely choose the GT500.
THANKS for the comment!
The Eaton TVS R2650 is the best rotor packaged supercharger on the market for its size. It is more efficient than a lot of rotor packages even larger units. GT350/R benefits well from them and it’s obvious the GT500 does.
These are both awesome. I have a 2019 gt and this makes me want to dyno it just to see where it's at before I make and real power mods
Great comparison 👍
THANKS!
I'm a Mopar fan but, I have always loved the Mustang period, and the old Fairlane's. I really like this car, it's impressive to see 760 hp out of the factory, it really is a great car and sounds great, Awesome 👍 job Ford💯💪👍😀😀😀

GSHeverything _27 agree on that one. I love it.
That GT350 sounds so fu**en angry though... 🔥🔥
Agreed. I like the sound and high revving nature of that engine much more. Both cars are incredible, Ford is the shit.
The gt350 sounds God like!
But that gt500 is incredible
That car is 🔥🔥🔥 great video GT 500😁😁💪🏾💪🏾
THANKS
What all is needed to make a 2017 GT350 safe and reliable when adding a supercharger? Do you guys just add a supercharger, intercooler, and tune or internals are changed? I know adding forced induction is tricky with the flat plane crank hence why the GT500 has the cross plane crank.
If I had the money, this would definitely be my next car
They are sweet for sure!
Great Review ...!
Stang Mann thank you.
That's really interesting seeing the boosted gt350 with a flat plane crank making almost identical power to the same engine with a crossplane crank. Of course the flat plane revved higher for just a tad more power, but I honestly thought their numbers under the curve would be different.
I was surprised. Thanks for watching!
Great! now throw on some headers drop pulley and tune....send it!!!
Martin5.0 yes!
Should be able to do 850 whp stock motor with pulley, intake, header, no cat, and a moon tune 😁👍
The 7 speed auto transmission may shift faster but it bogs down during launch manual transmission wouldn't do that just learn to shift to make up for the computer doing it for you. Plus manual transmissions put more power to the ground vs automatics due to less drivetrain loss. Nice to finally see a GT500 been waiting on one for awhile now. Twin turbo GT350 with a manual transmission for me.
An auto loses power thru the torque converter which a DCT does not have ; it is not an automatic transmission but an automated manual.
Great vid Thanks
Dan Wallace and thank you for watching
Great video thanks
If they had used the flat plane crank in the GT500 know one would have wanted a GT350 going forward...period end of discussion 😆
Just imagine a GT500 sounding like at GT350.
Once the tuning curb is learned and a upgraded blower is installed on one of these GT500s a person will see close to a 1000hp on E85. Or a tad less on pump 93.
Let's please don't say turbo because we will see the ZR1 community go crazy 😆
The gt500 shoulda been twin turbo not shitty supercharger. Look up stock 5.0 twin turbo blow out demons
Gt350 all day for me. Just that sound. I think I'd rather have the 10 speed if that was possible though.
Had no clue the 500 had an OEM CF driveshaft....that's def a huge bonus.
Yah I was excited to see it.
Basically comes down to if you want the dual clutch get the GT500, if you want the 3rd pedal get the GT350/sc .... but oh man that flat plane crank sounds nasty...
U can step the power up on the GT500 just like the 350 but u get the automatic and more power from jump plus book value will stay higher on the 500 over the 350 too, won’t they
My friend has a 2020 GT500 and a 2018 GT350. He says he likes driving the 500 better because of the DCT. Love my 13 GT, but that 500 is just a ridiculous car. He has a second 500 sitting at Ford by us. 2022 GT500 carbon fiber track pack. Just needs to go pick it up. Dude has 5 mustangs.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN lol thanks for the comment!
I guess the video gives me the answer to my question, but why do you think Ford "recommends" a break in period of reduced RPMs for the first 1000 miles?
Oh, I just subbed to your channel 👍😀
THANKS
The only thing that car needs, are long tube headers. Easily 800hp +
Kind of really like the sound on that GT500.
It does sound sweet.
Ya but what size whipple is on 350 compared to gt500 and boost?
What internals are on the 350. I just bought one a week again wish I could tell you I love it but I'm in minnesota and it was from dealer to storage. I know my motor has not been replaced with the r motor.
If it is a 2019 or newer motor with 1 builders name or KA designation you are in great shape. I'm procharging mine to keep the voodoo characteristics. Very comparable to whipple with less boost. On 6.5 lbs make about the same as whipple on 11 psi. Cooler air intake temps and less heat soak. Also much more manageable for the circuit track.
@@stephenj37824 mine is a 16 with a ha motor.
@@CoolenergeRJJ I think there are a couple of things happening with the pre 19 motors. The brenspeed cooling mod for the heads should help with #8 cylinder temps. I also think an oil accumulator is a must on these cars period. I'm installing one on mine. Also use Amsoil 5w-50 as well. Do not go above 3k rpm until OIL temp is at least 180F. They redesigned the oil pan for the 19 up voodoo gen 2..... Wonder why. The oil accumulator would be a cheap insurance policy on a pricey engine. The pre start oil pressure is just a huge added bonus.
@@stephenj37824 yeah I know all that stuff. I am going to buy separators for both sides. I put a very expensive warranty on it so hope if it needs anything that will help. I could not pass on the car though. 1 owner 9k mileage I ended up talking the dealer down to 39 for it.
Sorry Brent, your tuning department did such a good job on my car that nothing newer or more expensive gets me excited. 😁
Let's what that GT350 does with a set of longtube headers and a water methanol kit installed.
Ha sorry thanks for the comment. Enjoy your ride.

engineered from the factory is always better than after market if you're going for exact same power output. But if you want more power, then aftermarket will always deliver
THANKS!
Basically less than a regular gt mustang with a whipple. Very exciting stuff 😂
I think another factor to consider here in the comparison is resale value. I would think that putting a blower on a GT 350 would hurt the resale value with 90% of potential buyers. That wouldn’t be the case with the GT 500 as it is factory supercharged.
Could a gt 500 that's been tuned rev to 8-8.5krpm like the 350 can reliably?
What's that DCT rated at? Kinda curious as to being such an exotic trans ,parts accessibility, sure hope it's damn near bulletproof 👍
I can't remember off the top of my head but I think it is listed on Tremec website in the spec section.
I think the GT350 sounds better
The GT350 sounds like a run can. I owned a 2018 GT350R. Now I am a 2020 GT500 owner. The GT350 does not sound better.
No.
The 350's exotic flat plane crank engine was not built for massive hp. On the other hand, the GT500's standard cross plane crank (like all other vehicles made by Ford ever since day one), is built for from what a program powertrain engineer said was 1150 hp. 390 hp over stock. Insane. The GT500 has a nice DCT/automatic trans like all high performance vehicles do these days. The GT350 with its manual-only trans was made more for circuit track duty, the GT500 is the grand touring machine capable to double duty. They are both very different machines. So it boils down to preference. If you like 1/4 and cruising, the 500 is the machine.
Thanks again for the comment!
...my base model 14 GT, live axel , whipple'd up on E-85, Full stock exhaust, cats, resonators.....stock bottom end 730 wheel horsepower, Yes...California legal car with 730whp for 40'i$h grand. Not too shabby.
Sounds like an awesome car!~
I wonder if I can fit those seats in my Prius.
I have a theory on the torque number. I noticed the factory rated 625 just happens to be 9 ft lbs less than what Tremec rates the trans for.
Whats your opinion of the Voodoo engine? i'm very hesitant to buy one because a lot of people are popping motors?
Here is a good video to watch. Here is my real life review based off of a very large qty of builds for many years. ruclips.net/video/n0x0U893-L8/видео.html
