This 20 minute grounding yoga nidra is a guided meditation for deep regenerating and healing rest. Yoga nidra as a guided meditation is a great relaxation technique and so much more. This yoga nidra is healing for muladhara chakra & vata dosha by lowering vata, calming vata, using the earth element and forest visualization to balance muladhara, the root chakra and calm the nervous system.
This is a yoga nidra style body scan to sooth the nerves. This yog nidra includes a forest bath with a symphony of bird song to further enhance the state of deep relaxation in the central nervous system.
In this 20 Minute Yoga Nidra, Ally Boothroyd will guide you through a relaxation and visualization for the element of earth (prithvi), the muladhara (root/base chakra), and vata dosha elevation (wind/air element elevation). A gentle forest visualization will calm, ground and balance vata, sooth anxiety, nourish the anna maya kosha (physical body) and invigorate muladhara chakra.
Yoga Nidra is a form of meditation that helps with insomnia, anxiety, stress, adrenal fatigue, ptsd and so much more. This scan takes you through the whole body, systematically relaxing every part of your being.
Yoga Nidra translates as psychic sleep and is a systematic method of inducing physical, mental and emotional relaxation, while maintaining awareness at deeper levels.
Close your eyes and allow yourself to be guided into deep relaxation.
As described by sparklingyoga: Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep, a state of deep sleep while you remain conscious. It brings an amazing clarity of mind, calmness and stillness. It is one of the deepest forms of meditation leading to supreme quietness and insight. The depth of Yoga Nidra is far beyond just relaxation. During a Yoga Nidra session, you leave your waking state, go through the dreaming state and into deep sleep state, yet remain fully awake.
Scientific research has demonstrated that restorative power of just one hour of Yoga Nidra is equal to 4 hours of healthy sleep. Tension and anxiety melt away with a profound experience of muscular, mental and emotional relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a state of receptivity and creativity, blissfully rejuvenating and restorative practice that will guide you into inner calm and a state of ease and relaxation.

The word Nidra translates to 'sleep' and is a systematic method of relaxation, inducing physical, mental and emotional relaxation, while maintaining awareness at deeper levels.
There is really no "wrong" way to practice, close your eyes and allow yourself to be guided into deep relaxation.
Yoga Nidra is a state of deep sleep while you remain conscious. During Yoga Nidra you can access many different states of consciousness. You might leave your waking state, go through the dreaming state and into deep sleep state, yet remain fully awake.
Some people refer to yoga nidra as "bliss for your brain" or "divine sleep" and some translatations of yog nidra include "sleep of the yogi" and "yogic sleep" Tension and anxiety melt away with a profound experience of muscular, mental and emotional relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a state of receptivity and creativity, blissfully rejuvenating and restorative practice that will guide you into inner calm and a state of ease and relaxation.

Thank you for this wonderful video. It left me wonderfully calm. I'm from Toronto and am using Yoga Nidra to solidify my violin practice. I lie down and listen to it after a good 90 minute session of work - I think it helps assimilate what I have just worked on.

First time I tried this. I thought I needed a nap but heard this could help. Pretty sure I passed out for 5 of the 20 mins, but by the time is was done I felt better than before I started. I'll try it again tomorrow!

Hi Ally, I just wanted to thankyou so much for your generous and beautiful Yoga Nidra sessions. I have been unwell with an as yet undiagnosed illness, which has created enormous stress both physically and mentally. Throughout the year I have found great relaxation and comfort in your Yoga Nidra, and I continue to rely on it heavily to calm my nerves. I am about to embark on a treatment through Chinese medicine and acupuncture which I am confident is going to address my issues, but I will continue to back it all up with your soothing sessions. One day I will travel to Canada (from Australia) and hopefully attend your classes in person. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, from the bottom of my heart. Fiona

When I started with your 10 minute yoga nidra meditations a few weeks ago, not only did I find myself getting much better rest, but I wake up in a much more positive mood afterwards.
