      @@sammywilliam8156 "We might be different religions but we can make the world a better place all you have to do is believe" is absolutely not what Bible-believing Christians believe. There's a lot more nuance to it than this, but basically, it is written in multiple places in the Bible that followers of Christ should not associate with non-believers, except to witness to them and to spread the gospel. Not to say that friendships outside of a church are forbidden or anything, but basically Christians are supposed to be an example to the world about what to be (according to what the Lord tells us to be), while not living in a worldly way ourselves. A lot of us struggle with that quite a lot, of course, but that's a whole other topic.

    Very interesting video.
    Personally, as an atheist, I'm of the opinion that whether one believes that there is a savior or not, we should nevertheless make the effort to save ourselves and each other.
    In the comics Lex Luthor represents a twisted form of this world view. He believes that if humanity starts to only rely on Superman to save it, we might become weak, unable to save ourselves, in case Superman ever isn't there to do so. He obviously takes it to the extreme of wanting to kill Superman and be the saviour of humanity himself, he is a psychopathic super villain after all, but his core believes are valid concerns to have, imo.
    Btw, glad to see you're making a platform where you can discuss philosphical ideas without having to tank your main channel's numbers.

    Superman's whole origin is heavily steeped in religion if you view it as ....
    Created by two Jewish artists, A father sends his only son to earth to help mankind , then (much later in the series) he dies and is then resurrected.

    Hey Holden! I would love to see you do an analysis/examination of the film/book “Boy Erased.” It is a movie(with Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman) that came out a few years ago that is based on a memoir that recounts an experience with LGBT conversion therapy. The author talks about what the experience was like and tries to navigate being both gay and Christian. I would love to hear what you think about it and maybe you could look at some of the conversion techniques shown and explain why they are anti-Christian or illogical. I really enjoy your less common videos such as analysis/vlogs/documentary. Always love your content❤

    If my memory is correct, your older "Christian posts" from years ago connected me to the movie reaction culture. I work from home and play reaction channels while I work. I especially enjoyed the videos where you were exposing a specific group/church. Maybe some of those could be re-posted here? Or follow-up videos about what happened. Considering the popularity of your movie reaction channel, and how many people from there are subscribing here, I'd love to see reactions to Christian movies on your new channel; specifically the ones based on the Bible. I've been collecting "Bible" movies for 30 years. My favorites are the ones which stick to the actual Bible stories the most. I often watch them in order, and they are definitely quality movies worthy of a reaction:
    THE BIBLE: IN THE BEGINNING - shows all creation in Genesis, then the flood, then up to Abraham's story.
    There was a TBS release of Bible movies in the 90s which were excellent; each called after the main character: ABARAHAM, then JACOB, then JOSEPH, then MOSES, then DAVID, then SOLOMON and JEREMIAH. (the JESUS movie version they produced was terrible).
    THE TEN COMMANDMENTS is the only Bible movie that I'm aware of with a reaction, done by POPCORN IN BED.
    I believe I have noticed THE PASSION has a few reactions, which I haven't seen those.
    JESUS OF NAZARETH is excellent for a reaction.
    And there have been a number of "word for word" Bible movies: THE JESUS MOVIE (FROM THE GOSPEL OF LUKE), then THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW, then THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES, then THE GOSPEL OF JOHN.
    I wouldn't be surprised if you have seen these, or most of them, but if someone watches with you, it would be great to see a fresh reaction. And quite frankly, it could cause a boost in interested for other channels to react to Bible movies.

    One point of concern. When you relegate Jesus to a "historical figure", it comes across as another character in a story, much like Superman, albeit an history lesson than a film review.
    Superman exists only in the realm of pop culture relevant only to the last 90 years, whereas Jesus exists now both as true Man and true God, and comes to offer forgiveness, a restored personal relationship with God, and eternal life to every person freely out of his love.
    Superman, as altruistic his actions may seem, are conditional, based on 'truth, justice, and the American way'.
    Jesus' puts no conditions on us, but says 'come all who are weary, and I will give you rest', and 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life'. 'I will give you living water, and you will never thirst again'.
    And Jesus never leaves: 'I will be with you always, to the very end of the age."

      No conditions?

    • @twisterdavemd1
      @twisterdavemd1 Год назад

      @@_Tracker God loves us enough to not force us into a relationship with Him against our will. The gift of forgiveness and salvation are pointless if they're conditional.
      The Bible is structured so the Old Testament provides God's law and commandments as both a guide and a mirror. It shows us our need for a Savior, because we cannot accomplish salvation and redemption by our own character.
      The New Testament is the Gospel, or "Good News" in which God brings us to Salvation through His own Son, who died as the sacrifice for the sin of the world, and rose to new life.
      It is grace that saves us, undeserved and unearned by any actions we do, but unconditionally offered to all.

      Do you believe that Christos ever did,or ever will, forgive the unrepentant?

      @@_Tracker Jesus describes his relationship with us in this way:
      "Like sheep, we all have gone astray. And the shepherd, noticing that one of his flock is missing, will he not seek out the sheep that is lost? And if that sheep is under attack, will the shepherd not lay down his life to protect the sheep who is lost? I am the good shepherd, and I lay down my life to save the one who is lost."
      Jesus also says: "a physician does not come to heal the healthy, but to heal those who are sick."
      Sin is what separates us from God, and nothing in our power, including repentance, is able to make us right and righteous enough to stand before God. This is the sickness that Jesus came to heal. God says "the wages of sin are death", eternal separation and ultimate suffering.
      Repentance is not required for salvation, but is the act of a redeemed heart. "Create a clean heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit within me! Cast me not away from Your presence; and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."
      This is from Psalms in the Old Testament, and is a prayer of repentance which speaks of "restored salvation" and the joy it brings. If repentance was required before salvation, how would we ever desire the joy of having it restored to us if not first given by Christ Jesus?

    • @_Tracker
      @_Tracker Год назад

      @@twisterdavemd1 Respectfully I said nothing of before salvation.
      Salvation for God's people was predestined before the world was. The Lord Jesus Christos knows those whom the Father has given to him. And Redemption for all of those was secured at the cross. Indeed salvation doesn't require our acceptance. We couldn't and wouldn't. Free will extends only to sin. Our "good" works are as filthy rags. We are redeemed in spite of ourselves, and not for ourselves.
      Two men might see and hear the gospel in power and truth. And only one come to repentance.
      And still that is not of himself, lest he boast. It is the gift of God.
      No one in the book of life appears there without repentance. The soul that is not sorry rejects the gift of eternal life. But there are many conditions placed upon the elect. You know this to be true.
      Prayer and repentance for the forgiveness of our daily sins is but one.
      Your OC is one of the first truthful comments I've come across on RUclips.
      Many Christians,so called, berate people with scripture. But later, in another comment,we see their true nature. Peace.
      I am not against you by correcting you. I was simply adding an extension.

    In the event that Superman were real he would still require salvation.
    And to even ask, " Does the world need Jesus?" is a most grievous sin.

    • @ThePopCultureChristian
      @ThePopCultureChristian  Год назад +3

      In order to avoid religious dogma, the tough questions must be asked. It is not a sin to ask questions or question what youve been taught, even the question "does the world need Jesus" because that's where the Agnostic/Atheist are at, spiritually. It makes it all more worthwhile once you realize the answer is a resounding "yes."
      It's what separates the religious nuts from the spiritual fruits.

    • @_Tracker
      @_Tracker Год назад

      @@ThePopCultureChristian The Agnostic/Atheist have no real basis for their position.
      An example being that 'there is no god.' A bold statement in deed. One would be forgiven were he to enquire as to the validity of such a claim. What proof for instance can be introduced to verify an opinion that is nullifying every proof put forth by God himself to the contrary.
      It is not a sin to question doctrine, this guards against wolves entering in. That being just one example.
      But the conscience bears witness against the host, that there is indeed a need for a saviour and salvation. It is not a small thing to the heavenly Father that he gave his only begotten son that this might be achieved. The pride, the arrogance of all who deny or question this is both evil and breath taking.
      Because they know for a truth, the absolute and total depravity within themselves.
      I do not envy such a one at the time of judgement.
