Man Of Steel
Ok so the first film as we know is Man Of Steel.
This set up Krypton as a society that was pretty much run by Rehoboam from westworld. At birth people were bred for a role in society and they had been genetically accepted to fill this predetermined position.
Upon the planet’s collapse Jor-El put the Codex in his son and also gave him free will which allowed him to be good or bad.
Pay attention to this because it comes up later but the whole idea of the codex allowing free will has big consequences down the line.
In the original plan of the film every Kryptonian was meant to be confirmed as being in a simulation body and that they completely lacked the ability to choose or differentiate from what the council of krypton had decided for them.
This element was dropped and certain aspects of Krypton were downplayed massively in the eventual release but as we know the movie showed Zod and Clark going head to head with the latter defeating him and the other Kryptonians.
He settled down with Lois, decided to be an example for the planet and they all lived happily ever after…well till the next movie.
Batman V Superman
Batman V Superman actually stuck very closely to the original way that we saw the film play out, however it also took some big differentiations.
Initially there was supposed to be big divisions amongst humanity over the Dark Knight and Man Of Steel. This led to them fighting in the middle of the film in which they almost killed each other.
This fight was reportedly removed from the final drafts and instead they only fought once at the end of the film. It was supposed to have Batman realising that he needed to discover a weakness for Supes as everything he threw at him just got destroyed.
Both did survive and in the cave Bruce had his Knightmare in which he saw his darkest fears come true. This was a world ruled by an evil superman that had turned to the dark side.
Barry had torn through space and time to warn him of this and the Anti-Life equatation which made him realise that he had to kill Superman.
However in the final battle he had a change of heart as we saw in the final cut and he decided against it.
Superman was always going to die fighting against Doomsday and the film was still going to end with his resurrection being teased.
Justice League
Jump to Justice League which, if you have even a passing interest in this stuff then yeah, you know it was meant to be quite a different film.
We still haven’t had a release of the Snyder Cut but the film that we did get did feel like it was a course correction at the time that steered massively from intended direction.
Maybe Warner Bros had their own Knightmare scene.
Anyway it’s a shame because what Snyder had sounded like it was really going to be something special.

I mean, just seeing Darkseid ALONE wouldve made this epic. But the darker, more adult themes is what I have been always wanting. I like the humor for the most part in the MCU, but Theres nothing funny about a guy who lost his parents and commits his life to being a human weapon ass kicking machine whilst dressing up as a bat...
Theres nothing funny about superman wanting to save humanity but being rejected (which would happen in real life btw, u just KNOW there'd be people saying GOING HOME, ILLEGAL ALIEN), theres nothing funny about earth being taken over and enslaved, and with superman going "evil" after losing his wife, mother, and unborn child..
So this tone and overall story for this snyder cut REALLY caught my interest and I was so excited for it.
I'm a big marvel guy, always read them, barely read DC,,but I loved BvS (ultimate cut but liked the regular one somewhat too), I loved man of steel... so again, my excitement level with this darker themed DCEU was really really exciting for me, a Marvel guy...
Maybe that's why peoole like me liked them, while DC comic loyalists didnt, as they know the characters a bit better (it's not like I never read ANYTHING DC, I mean, my fav comic of all time is KINGDOM COME)... but again, if u want to transfer these characters to the REAL world, it ain't gonna be all smiles and hope... theres a lot of evil and darkness in man and they would reject batman, superman, WW, etc, kinda like how humans reject mutants in xmen, so I was pumped...
Oh well, maybe we will get a reboot with all new actors and finally get this, or a version close to it

@@tangomango2459 well, not to be a schlong and answer for him, but we chatted a bit on his last video about BvS, and he, like me, did like the movie, but esp liked the ULTIMATE EDITION. Which, I don't understand why they didnt just release that as the theatrical version, 3 hour run time be damned! They cut out all the stuff that helped push the plot along, and examined so much, likenwhy people blamed superman for killing everyone in Africa (KGBeast and his little gang set up all the bodies and burned them, making it look like Superman did it with his heat beams, for example)... if u didnt watch that version, i/we highly recommend it lol
Heavy spoilers I've subscribed and liked the video, I really like your channel and everything you do on it thank you for telling me about this 5 movie plan I would love to have seen that it would have been so grand and awesome, truly a spectacle, I would have loved to have seen which heroes rise after batman's passing, I think this would have been great introducing green lantern corps and new genesis with the new gods giving us a really interesting story, this plan would have been great tying in multiple comic book storylines like dark knight returns with batman v superman, some of the newest new 52 stories as well as death of superman and injustice the game and comic books, keep up the good work man I love the content you bring to youtube

I hate how people don’t give the DCEU a fair shot. These movies resonated with me from the second I watched it, and it really breaks my heart that people just trash on it because they want to jump on the bandwagon of hate.

I've always been more of a DC fan than Marvel when it comes to comics and I really tried to convince myself that I liked these films when they first came out. And while I like elements of BvS and I genuinely enjoy Suicide Squad, if you look up how the films were originally going to be made but studio interference ruined them, it's a huge missed opportunity. I didn't say they were terrible. I didn't say I hate them. I said it's a missed opportunity. Because it is.
randomps3stuff the only missed opportunities here were Suicide Squad and Justice League, both of which were heavily destroyed by the studio. The BVS ultimate edition was a masterpiece in my opinion, and you’re welcome to disagree with me but you are definitely wrong if you call it rife with plot holes, because in all honesty, there were barely any plot holes, and any that were there were just technicalities that don’t affect the movie as a whole. And being a DC fan doesn’t inherently make you someone who doesn’t hate for no reason. You and many others have constantly hated on BVS and Zack Snyder without actually providing a reason, and when many people including critics do that, it creates a bandwagon. I’m sorry but I haven’t heard one legitimate reason from you for why you think BVS was a missed opportunity so I’m going to assume you just jumped on the bandwagon of hate like everyone else until you provide a legitimate one that I cannot resolve. Also, if you’re going to argue with me about critics complaining for no reason, if I remember correctly, there were a few critics who said that BVS was a bad movie because parts of the movie scared them or their kids. @Fabian No it's not, his vision is actually pretty loyal to Frank Miller's, the most non sensical ideas like Batman killing without much development and "MARTHAAAAAA" were Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer's ideas, do not blame Zack for what isn't his fault please.

Yes, it does push together two or three MASSIVE storylines in the comics, but I think it would have paid off better than whatever Joss Whedon did... Each film ties together narratively whilst still providing character development.

They mentioned the tesseract being one of the infinity stones in one of the end credit scenes, the serpent society was a joke they made for the phase 3 announcements, civil war was always their plan they just didn’t want to actually announce it first and have fans screaming at the very beginning so serpent society was placed in as a troll as people had been speculating that the 3rd cap film was gonna be civil war already

Really tho people like to believe that whedon tried to “save” the film but couldn’t, but that’s just not true. Whedon did everything in his power to make the heroes seem cartoonish, which I honestly don’t think he did with malicious intent - that’s just his style. People seem to hate anything Zack Snyder puts out there for no reason, just because Zack Snyder doesn’t put unicorns and candy canes and rainbows in his superhero movies.

I feel like I'm in the general minority when I say BvS is one of my favourite movies. It's very character-driven, it takes its time and puts the protagonists in situations full of moral grey areas, and we watch them try to cope. I know that "it's too dark" was a big critique aimed at both BvS and Man of Steel, which explains WB stepping in to make Justice League a quippy Avengers knockoff. MCU is brilliant with its light-heartedness and balances it very well with the dangers of that world, but they established it early on in their series. DCEU established a darker tone, that I think makes the characters more interesting.
People often say that the darker tones of Man of Steel and BvS make those movies boring, I think they allow the stories to explore their characters in a deeper way. Joker wasn't a Snyder film, but it dials Snyder's ideas to 11 and delivers a fantastic story by digging deeper than most superhero movies are willing to dig into a character's psyche. BvS is fantastic to me because all the characters fall in a moral grey area and we get to watch them struggle through that. That it sets up what would have been a badass story arc is even better, but I love it even as a standalone.
I also like how it compares to Civil War. Came out in the same year, both built around the question of whether a superhero emergency response unit should be bound by the law or not, which is a really tough question to answer. Also the plot of both movies is orchestrated by someone trying to prove a point (Lex and Zemo). Civil War is great, it gets to the action faster, but I think BvS reaches deeper into the characters' minds.

they hired an auteur director with a clear vision, and knew exactly what they' were getting with Snyder. They wussed out when BVS underperformed and completely fucked him over - after the death of his daughter no less.
I believe when Superman underperformed by “Marvel’s standards” they got discouraged. WB was not willing to give Snyder full creative control and the big budget required to carry out the rest of his vision. We got robbed of a potentially great story arc.
The people that are praising this now are the same people who talked endless shit about Synder and his vision
Well I've been consistent. I like MoS, but BvS was a garbage fire. Killing Superman so early was totally un-earned. Horrible idea.
And then making him injustice superman but even more evil in just the second justice league movie after bringing him back to life? Hell I'd enjoy a whole bright burn universe more than this one cause it would make way more sense. Also it seems like Snyder's main goal was just justice league and not having any movies with just the characters themselves or even small team ups like BvS so we probably wouldnt have gotten much character development besides Sups going bad and everyone being more serious

Which would have been fine if they acknowledged it was elseworlds, but how the fuck can you sell Superman to a new audience that starts of brooding, then gets killed, then comes back a damn villain?! It's an interesting on off concept, but it's not the kind of story you build a franchise around.

Completely agree. The audience that would have enjoyed this sort of movie with its heavy comic book lines would not be large enough to support a billion dollar box office. This sort of tale would have a cult following and maybe about 400-500 million, which isn’t enough to justify the 350$ million price tag to make.
Snyder wanted to do End game, but everyone was too focused on wanting origin stories instead of the type of story that Snyder wanted to do which was Birthright -> Dark Knight Returns -> Justice League Origins -> Injustice (with Darkseid) -> Final Crisis. That would have made for an series of movies

WB got cold feet after BvS’ controversy. This would’ve been an amazing run of movies.
This makes so much more sense, very ambitious indeed and in my humble opinion, would have been far more satisfying and cathartic than what we ended up with.

Alex O the only reason I watched Justice League in the theatres was because my friends made me. I wasn’t going to watch Joss Whedon (who I’ve hated long before Justice League because he’s just a terrible director), destroy my favourite heroes and the movie by one of my favourite directors.

@@heavyspoilers Zack Snyder is not the director to deliver this is a compelling way. He is more visual and ideas than story telling. Russo brothers even "burned" Snyder for that on their Endgame commentary.
If they did hire sometime that would need to be a heroic storytelling effort and would need alot of faith. It would have been cool to see but from the discription it doubles down on doom and gloom from BVS to JS part 3. 3 films that got more and more tragic would need a help of a script to tap into audiences and make people care about these characters and the world they're in!
I actually liked the idea, it has a sort of lotr feeling to it, that there is doom and gloom but there is always hope at the end of the tunnel, not to mention that it makes the enemy feel larger and credible.

The scene still works as a warning and fear of Superman to Batman though. But Flash going trough time there... yea that will look weird if they never explain that.

People were anticipating Batman Vs Superman MORE THAN Civil War back in 2016 BECAUSE BVS seemed more serious and less comedic compared to marvel movies. Superman is barely established as a good guy in the movie before dying. Batman is a fucking murderer who should be in jail. "Lex" seemed like the Riddler. Barman doesn't have any special powers and isn't a fuckin god so makes zero sense for him to dream or have a vision about the apolklopis thing

WB got scared. They weren't willing to take the risk the way Marvel did with their phase one films.
The big payoff doesn't come in the beginning.... It happens at the end.
If WB had gone forward and ignored the critics.... Justice League Part 2 would've cleared a billion easy and blown folks away.

Totally agree. They got scared, which is sad, because dispite the bad critics, the dceu was actually making money, not as much as they expected, But it was. And having sometigh so different from the mcu would have been great. I also think that snyder was a little too ambitious, But the original plan sounded great, and it would have given them a lot spin off to work with.
But we got what we got, now we have to wait and see what they do and what's their direction.

MoS was decent, BvS and JL were bad movies and even if this "Zack Snyder" was something else, what difference it makes? BvS still exists, and even if he brought a Injustice story arc for his Justice League, it would have been bad anyway.

I agree. I also think we would never have seen a heroic Superman till the 5th in the movie arc. While for us it would be an interesting story, mainstream audiences wouldn't have turned up.
I also think while this would have been a good story to see Zack Snyder would not have made this as compelling as it could be.

The thing I've noticed about the MCU is that they want to make everything flashy. In thier story arch it's always looking cool, epic fights built in with small comedic elements and I've got no problem with that. A majority of critics say that, "DCEU isn't as good compare with the MCU", and honestly they shouldnt be compared at all. Snyder was making so that it would not be the same as Marvel making DC their own thing. The problem with that is that a majority of the fans who watch superhero movies is that they expect what they would see when they watch a Marvel movie. And when the fans do not like it then studios such as Warner Bros get in the way and mess every thing up and ignore everything the directors were working on just to get more box office earnings.

I love Marvel movies. I see them all the time when they hit theatres. But you would never see anything like this in they're movies. Seeing this and learning what Zack Snyder was trying to push for blew my mind.

Man of steel is the best superman movie of all time. - what we needed was another man of steel and 2 solo batman movies to build the Gotham & Metropolis world - then solo movies of WW, Flash, AM, cyborg - then BVS only with no JL members - then another movie JL bring the justice league together

WB wanted the Marvel box office. They wanted a CU that would go on for years. Zack's plan only had 11 films in total. Justice League was shorten to 2 films. There was suppose to be 3.

Alex Paul yes many people think that every single movie has to be connected now. For example people ask me if they have to see Joker before seeing birds of prey😂. I hate fake fans that only watch the movies
My wife was a Marvel fan until I introduced her to MOS/Smallville. She has since been a huge Superman and DC fan. She constantly asks if we should watch MOS/BVS and is always asking me questions about them during the movie. Zack's movies had one big problem. They were meant for adults and actual fans and not really designed to create new fans. Marvel does a great job at marketing their movies towards kids while keeping just enough of the source for the comic fans.
I prefer Zack/Nolan's style of movies where the Superheroes actions have consequences. Where what they do means more than just a happy ending to appease to children.

This film series would have been amazing and brought about a new age of comic book movies. The fact that both crappy fans and over reaching producers ended this is a shame. Zack Snyder deserves to be treated better by fans.

That would’ve been EPIC!! WB execs needs to just stop messing with Snyder’s vision. Let the man work. All his extend cut movies are perfection. Watchmen? Good. Directors cut Watchmen, perfection. Same with BVS. Had he got to do all 5 movies I believe we would’ve gotten the greatest comic book story ever to appear on film. So sad that small minded and panic-prone asshats get to meddle in genius.

He wanted to make something that challenges the traditional convention of cinema, but audiences had become so used to the Marvel 'play-safe' formula they couldn't digest Snyder's brainy approach. Woah, just blown away with his 5 movie plan. After hearing this I wish they would've let Snyder continue with his movies. All these stories are straight outta comics (a little changes here and there) and would've been epic to watch on-screen. Its a shame that we never got to see those.

I had to stop watching halfway through because I was overwhelmed with how awesome this original vision was and that we didn't get it. I'm not even kidding.
I would have loved to seen this play out but executed greatly. I would have thrown all my money to those projects granted that I only have $40

This is the first time I've heard the full plan for the JL. It's a shame we never got to see it. It sounds amazing! And I don't know why people hate BvS so much?? I actually like that movie a lot. Hopefully one day we will at least get to see Zacks version of the first film.
My only personal problems with it were:
Batman killing.
Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor (horrible casting)
Personally, I think BvS was not it's own film, just advertisement for next films (same problem that other films like Universal's The Mummy had).
The nightmare secuence made no sense, it was only a set up, it had nothing of value. For an average movie goer, it's just confusing.
Also, killing Supermad in the second film it's stupid. the audience didn't have a connection with him, so it didn't feel anything. Snyder wasted an iconic moment in the history of comics.
Finally, a bad casting (Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is terrible) and cringy dialogue (I understand the meaning of "Martha!", but it's still cringy) killed it.
Snyder had a plan, but he only looked to the future instead of focusing in the present, and that's why the DCEU died.

Man of Steel and the Ultimate Cut of BVS were awesome. Snyder is such a gifted director. His films are always visually gorgeous and incredibly visceral. It’s a damn shame WB threw him and his vision to the curb. #releasethesnydercut
Zack is the boldest Comicbook movie creater. His passion for the source material is evident in his films. I hope one day we get to see his vision, live action preferably, animated would still be pretty awesome or maybe a graffic novel.

I have always liked Zack Snyder's movies and found his two finished DCEU movies (I don't consider Justice League a finished film but a frankensteinian rough cut) absolutely fantastic.
I would have loved to see this five film epic come together as the outline sounds fantastic.
But sadly we live in an alternate reality where we can't have nice things.
I like the direction that Snyder had going better. The character development of the villains in the versions that were released were not that spectacular.
DC needs to do a better job at connecting all their films.

The dceu in the start was so good at connecting and all the movies happened in the perfect order, all connecting to bvs or jl in the perfect order
They'll connect Black Adam with Shazam and we'd probably see Superman teaming up with Shazam to fight black Adam. Moreover, Rock doing this movie because he was promised to have a fight against Superman (Cavill's)
Nothing makes sense in the dceu right now. Anything major happening in their world should be overcome by the justice league but obviously they can't go back there

The 5 parts can still be done in his vision and put it in a box set releasing one by one and then you can determine how good it would've been. I believe it would be epic!
