How THE PRINCE OF EGYPT Teaches That God Has ALWAYS Opposed Slavery
In this video, we talk about the very sensitive subject of slavery and some of the main objections and questions people have regarding slavery in the Bible.
Does the Bible, and therefore God, condone slavery and then change His mind? What about those verses that seem to support slavery?
We'll be using the movie "The Prince of Egypt" to demonstrate that God has ALWAYS opposed slavery, and how we reconcile verses that not only seem to condone slavery, but other issues we find immoral today.

Lucifer is an independent character in this story or rather this world, Satan is a separate character, he is not shown but is part of the 7 deadly sins, some of which we actually see in Hasbin hotel or Helluva Boss and he may appear in the third season of Helluva Boss

Nightcrawler has been my favorite X-Men since I was 13 and the reason I love the power of teleportation. But after learning more about the character and watching X-MEN 92 series (to be ready for 92) my love grew for him plus that episode is one of my favorites. Like Daredevil I love characters whose faith are a big part of who they are. I’m not catholic but grew up in a Christian household but I struggle with my faith sometimes and try to be better for myself and God.

All Biblical and Religious references and ideas, which I was able to find in the first season of the series: 1) In fact, the whole plot of the extermination is very similar to the plot of the Book of Exodus, where Pharaoh ordered the slaughter of the children of the Hebrews in order to reduce their number and avoid rebellion. A similar story is present in the New Testament with King Herod, who ordered the capture of little boys in order to find the King of Kings among them in order to get rid of him and preserve his power and throne. Sera essentially resembles Herod and Pharaoh of the Exodus, then Paradise can be considered as Egypt and Judea. And Sinners as Jews, abandoned by God for 400 years of oppression under the rule of a foreign country. Funnily enough, but in the song Hell is forever, Adam drops the phrase "An eye for an eye", which is just present in the Book of Exodus. It says, "If a man hits his male or FEMALE slave in the eye, and the eye is blinded, he must let the slave go to compensate for the eye" as Adam and Lute did to Vaggie, cut out her wings, her EYE and threw her away, releasing her from service. Just as Sir Pentious enters Heaven and becomes an Angel Cobra, when he renounced his sins and redeemed, this can be seen as a reference to how the serpent created by God devoured the serpents created by the Egyptian priests. And this is added by the theory that God himself carried Pentius directly to Heaven and near Sera and Emily. 2) The song "It starts with sorry" you can just see in this song but listening to this song, I am reminded of the story of Jacob and Esau, how the former took almost everything from the latter and fled from punishment, but returned and repented for everything, receiving instead of the expected murder the forgiveness and brotherly love of Esau. That is, there is a good and true message about forgiveness, repentance, letting go of the past, rejection of one's evil deeds. 3) If we assume that Jesus existed in this universe, this can be understood by St. Peter, one of his Apostles and disciples, then Charlie continues his work, so to speak, but if Jesus worked exclusively with living people, then Charlie is trying to atone and make the Sinners in Hell believe. And in fact, she also has apostles, Vaggie herself, AngelDust, Alastor, Husk, Sir Pentious, Niffty and Cherry Bomb. Lucifer then can be considered as a Joseph and Lilith as a Virgin Mary, because I love to theorize that she after eating a fruit from the Tree of Knowledge become the bearer of the true pure power of good, which was partially passed on to her daughter. And if we take into account the fact that she is formally the granddaughter of God, if one still exists in the universe of this series, then he would not only be glad that such a glimpse appeared in Hell, but it is also possible that he himself contributed to her being born and helped the souls of the dead to be cleansed of sins. And just like Jesus in his ideas, Charlie also has enemies and opponents, Adam and the Exterminators themselves can be seen as Pharisees, who are kind of priests and servants of the Lord, but who are not clean, corrupt and who wanted to kill the righteous man, Jesus himself, seeing in him a threat to their power and influence. Sera can then be seen as Pontius Pilate, who conducts a trial and pronounces a sentence on the further fate of the righteous man. Emily can be considered as Mary Magdalene. And Heaven can be interpreted as the Roman Empire. And if we talk about who will become the new Judas Iscariot, then it will definitely be Alastor, who will betray Charlie and her ideas, but then, perhaps, either sacrifice himself or destroy himself, just as Judas himself, realizing what he did and that he was guilty, committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree. Even the way the Angels, and in particular the Lute, condemn Sinners and at the same time not noticing their own vices or thinking they are right, this is a living illustration of the wisdom of Jesus: "Judge not, lest you be judged." 4) The way Vaggie refuses to kill Lute when she had the opportunity to do so and avenge everything she did to her is a reference to the story of David and King Saul. David did not kill Saul, although the latter wanted to kill David, but the future new great king did not touch the anointed of God, just like him. The same is true of Vaggie and Luth, who are both angels, and despite the fact that Vaggie, as well Lucifer, is Fallen. They're still angels in essence and in character. 5) Also, the plot and characters is relatively similar to the Book of Esther, with the plot of how a female ruler from the people who are under the rule of a powerful kingdom, saves her people from destruction and extermination. Charlie and Emily herself - Queen Esther. Sinners - Jews. Angels - Persians. Sera and Lucifer - King Ahasuerus. Lilith - Queen Vashti. Adam - Haman the Agagite. Lucifer and Vaggie - Mordecai. And just as Ahasuerus is unable to revoke the order to exterminate the Jews, so he issues a new order that the latter may be resisted, and this entails battles and celebrations. The same is true in the season finale. Sinners and Cannibals, along with Charlie, Vaggie and Lucifer, give battle to the Exorcists and win not without losses, and then celebrate. 6) And finally, the very way Charlie tries to guide Sinners to the true and righteous path, this is what many famous prophets of God did, in fact, Moses, Jonah and Elijah. And yes, Heaven can be considered as a monotheistic state, and Hell and demons as a pagan idolatrous people. As the Europeans, English, or Spaniards actually treated the native population of America, hating them largely simply for their different faith and for the color of their skin. Or just as the Ottoman Empire took tribute from conquered lands, so Paradise essentially takes tribute from Hell by murdering Sinners.

The way I draw morality is this: If you are fundamentally taking something away from someone else, that truly belongs to them, whatever that thing is, tangible or intangible, for your personal gain that is justified by your personal standard and by the standard of society, that is immoral. To take away the freedoms of others to further extend my riches and laziness and social status, that is immoral. Therefore, I will always deem slavery as immoral, no matter what the culture accepts.

As a Christian, I say...No _shit_ , people sympathize with Lucifer...because they're not using the biblical devil: Y'know, the one who fell from heaven from trying to overthrow God? Yeah, that's not HH's Lucifer. This guy's just an awkward, adorkable father who's grasping at straws to step back into his daughter's life despite his crippling depression about his wife leaving him for 7 damn years to who knows where. If they took away the Hell/Heaven setting for the show and put this on Earth as Lucifer being a king on Earth, instead of Hell, everyone would pat his back, for him trying to be a good dad.

Not all Christian’s are like this but some Christian’s are very judgmental. There is no real excuse for mocking Christianity but I understand why some people may dislike Christian’s. Some Christian’s are very rigid and judgmental and controlling and they have all these rules that they take too far like no studying zodiac signs, don’t believe in luck or say good luck, never celebrate Halloween or watch Harry Potter cause it’s demonic, never wear lipstick earrings and makeup cause it’s satanic, never wear anything revealing, never do yoga, never cuss never watch Disney never listen to music like pop rock or other songs that are secular(non gospel songs)

Why do I need to have cognitive dissonance to think my life matters without god? I know my life matters. The people who love me would be devastated if I was gone. People would miss me. I’ve positively affected some people’s lives. So it’s just about a sphere of influence. I know my life objectively doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things but it matters to those whom I’ve connected with. And that’s okay. How do you reconcile your cognitive dissonance that your god is all loving when he has been the perpetrator of genocides, condoned slavery, and condemned people for what their long lost ancestors have done.

    • @RangerNationDubs

I believe the argument is, under an atheist world view nothing you do really matters. This is why, i'm pretty sure statistically atheist are far less happy then theist on average. Theres no real reason for you to live, while theist have objective purpose with a consistent philosophical belief. What does your family caring about you matter when u won't know. And when they die they won't know. in order to live your making things matter to you, without real reason or philosophy behind it. As for the second thing, in Abrahamic religions it's widely understood god doesn't perpetrate any of those things. When humanity chose knowledge over him they chose free will across the board. Humans dictate these things. And this planet is destined to fail. But those who repent and follow gods words will traditionally have a pretty good life and when they die they'll find peace in the after.

i love your argument but in the first clip, the guy says "god doesn't give a fuck if you believe in him, he believes in you." and he continued to say that that is why rue was alive. because god believed she had a purpose. you twisted the argument and tried to talk about how the writers said her dad died because he didn't believe in god, but what the writers were really saying was that her dad died because god didn't believe in him, or that he had a purpose. that is, atleast, what the guy in this scene claims to say.

to take my point even further, you talk about straw man fallacy, but that is simply what you are doing in the first argument. you are taking what she said (that her dad died because god didnt believe in him) and claiming that she said he died because he didnt believe in god. i love all your arguments but this one was not on point.

Even if the series is somehow about redemption in one form or another, it’s using biblical characters and lore in a twisted sense. Heaven bad, Hell good. Of course the people who stick up for the show most likely don’t know Christ, and therefore still have the wool pulled over their eyes and are unable to see anything besides what they want to see in a series like this. The tiniest amount of discernment will show you that this show is a perverted take on biblical lore. Keep doing your thing, Holden!

Three things that would've made this show much more palatable for christians. 1. Make the setting in the purgatory or at least at the very fringe almost separate part of hell. 2. Make Lucifer much more grey in his morality instead of simply being depressed. 3. Make the angels a lot more hesitant in exterminating. And see the extermination plainly as a duty rather than entertainment (except for Adam and Lute).

Or just as the Ottoman Empire took tribute from conquered lands, so Heaven essentially takes tribute from Hell by murdering Sinners.

So you are 100% incorrect about there being only one faith that ever gets adulterated in stories. I was raised in the Asatru faith...whose deities are depicted in cartoonish versions in Marvel Comics and elsewhere. Eastern religions get mutilated in a lot of different contexts (including in things like Star Wars and Avatar The Last Airbender). Judaism (and by extension Christianity....but it's really Old testament stories for the most part) do get that treatment a lot more in the West and western storytelling...but that is because those are the stories that everyone knows in one form or another. Take "It's Wonderful Life," as that has angels and saints as part of the set up in a way very similar to this show. Why did they make that heartwarming but theologically questionable film that way? Why didn't they "make their own story" about magical spirits watching George Bailey? The answer is that that would have taken a LOT more set up, as we (even me) are familiar with all of the backstory about what angels are (and then they only had to fill in their own relevant lore, like angels "earning" their wings). Hollywood forced Christian doctrine and myths down our throats to the point that it is an easier and more common reference point for an audience than any other mythology. It's become cultural shorthand. In ancient Greece they wrote plays and stories that featured the Greek gods and heroes for the same reason...the audiences already knew them.

See, this is why I hate the Netflix version of Iroh and Zuko. It's so rare to see such great depiction of Christian values in a show, and they messed up the ability to do this plot line because the characters were too "simple" for the writers. Some people like the characters better because they don't understand the big picture.
