    Having ongoing issues getting proper power out of my N47'd E61 520d as well so.. as always will continue to follow your videos and see what your troubleshooting process is. Fairly sure despite having fixed one massive boost leak (same as you had on yours that you covered in another video, with the pipe from the intercooler up to the throttle body!) I am sure I still have another.

    Simpleycheck:
    -Faulty injectors (comes also with black smoke)
    -Boostleak
    -Aged HPFP
    -Engine has wear internally (compression loss)
    -Bad turbo
    Also, any tunner should also measure your smoke. This is a relvant test to healtcheck your engine specially your injectors.

  • @brarautorepairs
    @brarautorepairs 3 года назад +3

    All the dynos measure HP differently. It is just like a bodyfat scale. You can easily estimate HP by looking at accel of the car stock and then start modding it. That wheel HP looked on the low side when guys in NA are putting 200 wheel HP on a stage 2 map N47. What map did you get? I would look at the map as an issue. Tuners sometimes will just adjust the fueling and nothing else. They will go into the map and just adjust the target values for fuel pressure. If you add boost pressure, you get an additional 5 percent gain on top of the 20 percent gain typically found with fueling. The issue is when you remove emission controls and don't have a way to properly tune those changes. A flash tuner will just guess what the effect will be (faster turbo spool) but not account for the additional fueling needed.

  • @legioner9

  • @scottvaletti3696
    @scottvaletti3696 3 года назад +2

    Would have been nice to log the Dyno pull to check request vs actual boost. Then you would know more immediately. If actual is hitting target, wouldn't need to chase a boost leak that might not exist. If it were a leak find and fix (hopefully quickly) and throw it back on the dyno.

They can be clogged with ther metallic particles from high pressure pump (CP4 has the habbit of wearing too much)... So you clean the injectors.. But in 10-15 000 km the problem will be back

    I have a 118d N47 looking to tune it.
    My worry is the timing chain I had it done 1 year ago. However the rattle came back but it's quite quiet.
    Could it be the timing chain tensioner bolt getting loose? I wouldn't expect timing chain failure especially if the chain was done a year ago but the noise is worrying me.
    It's currently 143 stock. I have all the supporting mods for stage 2 - egr,dpf delete, downpipe, backbox delete and also was given a 123d intercooler.

    Do a injectors correction check. If they are high I recommend to send them to an Bosch service for a check. Last week I had a 520d with same issue. Power loss and smoke. The car made 171 hp instead of 220 that the tuner said. 1 injector had 1-2 mmg correction in acceleration. I send all of pf them to a bosch service and they were in extremely good condition so I did a compression test an the results showed that in the cylinder with correction value the pressure was 26.6 bar and the other 3 cylinders were between 29-30 bar. I thounght that the piston rings for that particular cylinder are not in a good shape so I did a pressure leak test. I found that the pressure was escaping into exhaust.....the final result...one of the exhaust valve lifter was not working fine and the valve was not closing correctly( pressure escaped in exhaust during compression phase)
