I have my CDL A , even though I don't drive O.T.R anymore, I always go out of my way to make a driver's life easier by blocking traffic for them when I can. Most people have no idea of the stresses involved in that work.
I thought for sure that cop was going to be a power tripper...but instead he was a helpful human being. What a nice change from what I'm used to seeing the police behave like these days.
My only big problem with this is the police should have made you move your whole truck onto the road and off the sidewalk because it blocks the travel path for wheelchairs.
I 100% agree. I think the cop was originally intending to issue a ticket. He had only arrived within the minute. This clown was just fortunate to approach the cop in very quick time that the cop, probably in a very good mood, and maybe ready for his morning coffee, allowed this guy to get going within the "three minutes" he quoted. There were NO SAFETY PROTOCOLS in place. No cones on the street, no flag people. He did in fact drive the loader on BOTH side of street at one point in order to get the load off the truck ....and just because there was no foot traffic at the time is no excuse for parking on the sidewalk ....let alone wheelchair access.

I've been watching your vids for a few weeks now. Great content! The other day there was a delivery made here at my apartment complex. They are replacing all the decks. There was 4 skids on the truck for us. I could tell the driver was unfamiliar with the Moffett. He wasn't sure what levers did what. Total unload time for him was about an hour and and a half. The one construction guy had stacked all the lumber and decking away in the storage trailer before the driver had loaded the Moffett onto his truck. This was very difficult to watch after watching your vids:)

difficult to steer or be less able to brake.
10. Always check the floor or deck of the loading area before loading to make sure it is
safe. Look out for debris, broken boarding, etc.
11. Loading should allow for safe unloading.

You should have a sign out saying men working ahead or maybe a flag guy or maybe cones!!! Something....that's crazy! Your lucky that officer stopped and actually didn't give you a ticket. You just started doing your thing hoping for the best that traffic would stop.....🤦♂️ it'd take 2 minutes to set a sign up and that's what could save your life...it's worth it man!
I would definitely have some traffic cones or buy some of those "guardian angel" lights to put on top of the cones while I was unloading.
