People think you’ll love them less or that they’re less of a pet because they’re small for some reason, as if they’re not part of the family and not your hairy best friend! So frustrating

I got my Syrian, Berry for my 22nd birthday. Best present ever! I loved getting her a huge 650sq inch bin cage and filling it with bedding, hides and toys. Watching her wash in the sand was my favourite! She was very good company, loved to cuddle. She passed on Monday last week though, I only had her for 5 months ☹️ You don’t realise how much you’ll love them! I went two nights without her when she’d passed and not hearing her wheel at night was so sad, I was very lonely and lost without someone to love and look after! I got my new friend, a tiny 7 week old syrian called Aldo on the Wednesday. He’s the total opposite of her, not shy, he actually plays with his toys and he squeaks a lot which is sweet. I’m so heartbroken Berry passed but so grateful I’ve made another little friend! I think you should 100% get one, you’ll have so much fun! And where they wake at night, you have something to look forward to even after you’ve finished work lol. And as an adult and watching Victoria’s vids, you’ll give your little pal the BEST care! I’m so glad I didn’t ever have a hamster until 22 as I’d feel so guilty about my childhood hamsters 😂 get one! You’ll be so happy you did x
@@bree7830 that sounds great and a little sad but with another friend to fall in love with. To be fair I've always liked the idea of getting a small pet and giving them all the space I can. We don't have rescues where I live so it will have to be from a pet shop (no big chains either though) but I love the idea of getting a little guy or gal and giving him/her the best life I possibly can.
@@bree7830 for now we're still working on the house, but once we're settled I think we will get one. I like the idea of a fish tank and aqua scaping but I don't want the hassle of water changes etc, so making a naturalistic cage with many elements is so up my alley. I don't understand why keeping rodents is deemed for children, when keeping fish and reptiles is considered a hobby suitable for adults. Rodents do have many needs and special care requirements that children just wouldn't be able to manage on their own, and like you said with them being most active once work and dinner/supper done. Do you by any chance have an Instagram with your hammy?

Awww, so glad she is doing well now, thank you for taking her in 😊 I have a rescue boy who was given away too young, but had been living the first 4 weeks of his life in maybe 3 inches of bedding, most being hay, no hides, no water and a wheel that was way too small. His body was locked in constant "stress-reaction mode" for weeks and weeks, and I didn't think he'd make it long. But now he is thriving, too 😊 It's so heart warming to see them start living not just surviving, and I am so glad she is doing so with you 💛

At the age that I am, I cannot believe that I've gone all this time without having a hamster in my life again. I was 14 the last time I had one. My step son wanted a hamster, so Archie (long haired Syrian) has been another one of our fur-family members since September. He's very loved and we will always have one in our lives. Hamsters are intelligent, funny, inquisitive, a joy to watch and ridiculously cute!

As someone who uses captions to be able to understand videos I super appreciate how well captioned your videos are. That being said, I wonder if it would be possible for you to keep in mind caption users when adding on screen text in your editing. If you put on screen text in the lower third (as opposed to on the side of the screen) the captions cover up your on screen text. It means I have to rewatch the same clip with the captions on to see what was on the screen. I get if it's difficult to do but I thought I would mention it in case you wanted to keep it in mind for future editing!!!
A few days ago, I had a really bad day at Had 3 asthma attacks, and had to go to the ER for oxygen. We were so short staffed, that I had to finish my shift. Anyways, I went home, did my normal routine, then I sat down by my hamsters enclosure. She darted out of her hide, and came to the door. I opened her enclosure and she ran up my arm and placed her little paws on my cheek, and proceeded to kiss my cheek, as if to say "It's okay!" I immediately felt better, she continues to do this whenever I'm stressed, so I wonder, if, like dogs and cats, she can sense how I'm feeling.
Unfortunately, I no longer have said hamster. Three weeks ago she escaped from her enclosure during the night. I sat small bowls of food and treats out for her in various areas of my apartment. I even purchased another hamster, thinking she'd smell it and eventually come out of hiding. Unfortunately, she has yet to reappear. Every now and then, I'll be sitting at the kitchen table and think I hear her. I even call her name.. 😔🥺😭

The poop is not so bad once you get to it. I had a hamster who did poop flipping trick sometime reaching the far side of the room.

I have 3 hamsters now. I just adopted one on Wednesday. Her name is Missy Maple and she was up for adoption, because her one eye burst and now she only has one eye, but since she got home shes doing great! She didnt get a wheel for months or enough to burrow. Now shes lovin life!
Awww, so glad she is doing well now, thank you for taking her in 😊 I have a rescue boy who was given away too young, but had been living the first 4 weeks of his life in maybe 3 inches of bedding, most being hay, no hides, no water and a wheel that was way too small. His body was locked in constant "stress-reaction mode" for weeks and weeks, and I didn't think he'd make it long. But now he is thriving, too 😊
It's so heart warming to see them start living not just surviving, and I am so glad she is doing so with you 💛

Thank you for all your information... after watchinb your videos for a few weeks I picked my hamster today... he fell asleep in a clay pot full of bedding. He woke up around 6:30 p.m his busy exploring his bin cage foraging for food... spinning on his wheel... he seems quite content already..not scare of me at all...thank you for helping me be a good hamster momma.

At the age that I am, I cannot believe that I've gone all this time without having a hamster in my life again. I was 14 the last time I had one. My step son wanted a hamster, so Archie (long haired Syrian) has been another one of our fur-family members since September. He's very loved and we will always have one in our lives. Hamsters are intelligent, funny, inquisitive, a joy to watch and ridiculously cute!

Stinky Breakfast it would be annoying for a light sleeper, but for a deep sleeper like me I barely notice my hamster putting 100s of millet seeds into the wheel
@Bonham Romain this isnt suitable... They need to be able to run on their wheel at all times.. If you don't like what it does give it away.. You can't stop it from going on its wheel.. How would you like it if someone put a big rock in your room?

How long should I take my hamster out
As long as you and your hamster want. If you notice that he/she is getting uncomfortable put him/her in its cage again.
If you don't have time anymore, put him/her back too. As long as you AND your hamster are happy, you can keep him/her out😊

As someone who uses captions to be able to understand videos I super appreciate how well captioned your videos are. That being said, I wonder if it would be possible for you to keep in mind caption users when adding on screen text in your editing. If you put on screen text in the lower third (as opposed to on the side of the screen) the captions cover up your on screen text. It means I have to rewatch the same clip with the captions on to see what was on the screen. I get if it's difficult to do but I thought I would mention it in case you wanted to keep it in mind for future editing!!!

A few days ago, I had a really bad day at Had 3 asthma attacks, and had to go to the ER for oxygen. We were so short staffed, that I had to finish my shift. Anyways, I went home, did my normal routine, then I sat down by my hamsters enclosure. She darted out of her hide, and came to the door. I opened her enclosure and she ran up my arm and placed her little paws on my cheek, and proceeded to kiss my cheek, as if to say "It's okay!" I immediately felt better, she continues to do this whenever I'm stressed, so I wonder, if, like dogs and cats, she can sense how I'm feeling.
Unfortunately, I no longer have said hamster. Three weeks ago she escaped from her enclosure during the night. I sat small bowls of food and treats out for her in various areas of my apartment. I even purchased another hamster, thinking she'd smell it and eventually come out of hiding. Unfortunately, she has yet to reappear. Every now and then, I'll be sitting at the kitchen table and think I hear her. I even call her name.. 😔🥺😭
