- We saw that TFL broke their new Tacoma 2024 on this trail in Colorado, so we had to try it out! We have a 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road in a long bed, making this trail a little more difficult for us. Our 2024 Tacoma is on stock tires, wheels, and suspension. This trail that TFL went on is called Iron Clads in Colorado. Iron Clads is rated a 5 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, which they recommend a lifted vehicle since the trail has larger rocks and off-camber obstacles.
Can’t keep my eye off of the dog having a blasting time in the snow lol
Dog is having fun and enjoying his snow day :)
I saw that so cute
I like the 2024 taco I'll wait till 26 or 27 though think it will be a better truck.
It was refreshing to see the wheels spinning with nothing breaking. As it should be. 👍
Worst part about that Fiasco was.. and seriously think about this.. Theirs broke and they are "famous"(as far as youtube and reviews go) so they had a factory "in" and they were running a GoPro. Imagine if that was Me, You just some guy/gal reading this that that happened to while you were just out off roading and you were not a youtuber and were NOT running a GoPro..Id bet a LOT of $$ Toyota would blame YOU for the breakage and then charge you and then sweep the breakage under the rug as to avoid bad publicity... Id put the % odds that your chosen to be liable for the damage and warranty wont cover it at 90% your fault 10% shot for them to cover it under warranty..
And im not picking on Toyota here this is all makers. Their brand new truck blows up and you are not famous and no video going when it happens.. they pin it on you and avoid bad press.. they couldnt in this case because they had proof..
TFL got the Truck with a faulty part in the front Diff. Nothing TFL did should had broken any Truck.
Driver issue
@@ReelNewwt it was a manufactured issue
They explained that the front diff has a safe kill switch. That is made to break to avoid a major damage. And the little valve that make that happen failed.
And there have been 3 reported failures now of 24 Tacoma Front difs
Umm sure lol
@@ReelNewwt talk about being a dumbass LMAO
It would be a real pleasure to see at least somebody take one of these on those trails with genuine off road tires so we could see what the truck is actually capable of and not what the tires are holding back.
They need to air down
off road tires would put too much load on the weak front differential.
Then it would DEFINITELY break. There actually WOULD be a load on the front diff. It can't even stay in one piece on slippery rocks with pizza slicers.
No, you should drive what they sold you. You shouldn’t have to pay even more than what these allready cost. All reviews should be done stock.
Before you buy a taco look at the underpinnings. Not good at all
I think it was much colder and more frozen when TFL did their roll. Still, you spun your wheels quite a bit like they did.
You guys should try loose terrain with out using any lockers and letting the abs system do its thing like they did
right...what a load of horse hockey!
Let's not forget the environment is totally different now everything was covered in snow and ice when the Tacoma broke
Good Comparison Shoot-Out, glad it stay together for you guys! it's funny how some situations can change drastically over one test to another. It's a nice truck, but looks to have some areas that need addressing, tires, lack of proper skid plates etc...its a good platform, but does not look to be showroom to trail ready!
Trail Hunter is the top tier model that you speak of, right?
Need to address the engine, because my 07, v6 is still going no issues...yet
These are actually very good looking trucks. it is the first body style of the tacoma that i think actually looks masculine. I wouldn't keep it stock height though, i'd immediately lift it 6" and throw on some 37's. this new engine has enough power and torque to turn 37's. My only concern is the weak front differential.
With the stock tires I’m quiet impress.. that Is a nice looking truck and upgrades.. well done 👍🏼 ..
Nice work guys!
Cool video. Y'all did a good job on that trail. Anytime you don't break your vehicle and are able to make it back home is a win.
Which roof rack is that? Trying to follow all of your upgrades.
I'm a ZR2 guy all the way but if you had better tires you wouldn't have to push your truck so hard they make a huge difference
I’ve got a buddy who also has a 23 TRD Off Road with the 6’ bed. As soon as our snow melts we’ll be taking our trucks off roading.
He has an inch more height than mine so it’ll be interesting.
Another buddy of mine has a 19 Tacoma TRD Off Road, but he has a 5’ bed.
We’ll be taking our trucks from Wenatchee, WA to Ellensburg on an overland trail this summer. On that trip, we’ll take our wives with us.
My other friend who has a truck like mine, we’ll be going up in high country in the Cascades, but our wives don’t like to camp, so it’ll be a guys weekend.
Might do some hiking and fishing as well.
Looks really good guys, hope yours run smoothly for ever. Would look sick on 33.
Didn’t know the new taco comes with a diesel. 😅 The injectors are way too loud.
Normal on Toyota's with a hpfp.
when you got there it's less snowy than when TFL got there
Great video ya'll. Were you guys driving in 4hi? TFL love going 4lo on any trails. Even dirt parking lot 😅
Good thing yours didn't break. Unless you have a connection to Toyota like TFL it will take a long time and a lot of hassles to fix it.
No, my 2021 Taco front diff had engaging problems, fixed under warranty no problem at all.
I just love the car tires on the truck..............NOTHING spells cheap better than having car tires on a truck!!
Nice truck. I really like the long bed.
The new 4cyl turbo almost sounds like a diesel
The truck still drove to the dealership idc what anyone says lol
lil doggy livin the life 👍🏼
Bring that dog on every video :D
Throw some 33" AT Snow Rated tires and you'd be good to go...Toyota went cheap on an off-road vehicle's tires...
They always go cheap
I know they're not 33's but pretty sure the factory BFG Trail TA is 3PMSF rated?
They're trying to keep down costs and know that the majority of owners are either going to daily drive them or they'll go ahead and buy their K02s lol
@@gaaarrryyy5 I don't buy that , I'd pay a couple hundred more for a better stock tire
Are there any videos with lifted trucks with 4 bangers? We know that turbo reduces the life of the engine.
Look good for Tacoma I’m impressed
It looks so much longer than the older Tacoma. I hope they improved the steering so it can turn better. A Dewalt (or whatever other flavor) air compressor works great for a portable solution.
Big difference is TFL has Blueberry and u guys have the Cool White. Looking forward to ur build.
If they got it in silver they would have women lined up down the block.
My 2023 would breeze right through that 😆
The lesson here is never buy the first year of a re-design.
This happens to every car manufacturer on its first model year on a new design vehicle. Personally I always buy the 3rd model year before mid cycle refresh. Better deal and most kinks workout.
What was the sudden ticking noise where you came down on that rock and found the plastic parts from another vehicle. As soon as you landed on that rock it got loud. 4:21
That’s the truck in idle
I had a choice of a slightly used (6K miles) 23 or new 24 Tacoma TRD Off Road, Premium pkg with a 6’ bed.
Ultimately I chose the 23, ONLY Because it has the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) V6.
I’ve had another Toyota with the 3.5 and my bf mother’s Lexus has the 3.5.
They’ve proven themselves to be durable and reliable engines.
I only drive 5-6K miles per year and at my age I plan on driving my 23 TRD for the rest of my life.
I drove my first Toyota for 24 years. It was a 78 Corolla and it died in 02 with 488K miles. I then bought a new 02 Camry and when my needs changed in 11, I sold my Camry and bought a new Rav 4WD Limited with the 3.5 V6.
I drove my Rav until 12/22 when I sold it and bought a new Subaru Forester Touring. My Forester was in the repair shop 85% of the time, so after 14 months of owning it, I happily traded it in on my 23 Tacoma.
That roof wrap is on point. Love it. I need to do that to my underground off road.
I watch TFL for the entertaining hot takes and early car previews. While TFL certainly enjoys offroading, I don't really trust their technical knowledge. Their Tacoma breaking didn't influence me whatsoever.
Looks like you're putting your Tacoma to the ultimate test! Safe travels! We sent you an email, please take a look.
What is your last 3-5 numbers? Is your truck as low?
Man I dig the engine sounds of that little turbo engine… sounds like a modern common rail turbo diesel!
They really sound like a little tractor!
someone could do a video on fuel consumtion with regular tire and bigger tire.
I bet the issue is the tires, some wild peak or TKO may grip better
TFL, TFL, TFL, hehehehhe, they are news.
Good video, the difference between NFL AND R4T is less ice on the way, which means less spinning, but anyway we a problem.
You guys notice how TFL always seems to break stuff?
Sounds like a Yaris 😄
Bring along a Chevy Colorado and a tow strap just in case.
Why would you not air down?!?
Very nice guy’s
Talking Tacos, DELETE THE BEEP😂
TFL's truck probably had a faulty part. It happens.
the sound quality is nice. could hear the engine, foot steps, and just the little things. No stupid drama and music is nice. Could hear it was in low range or reving higher but going slow . TFL reminds me of early 2000s comedy show with a laugh track and cheap stupid music playing.
Why not 35s??
Those all seasons performed well tho...
Nice. TFL don't know what they're doing lol
Moral of the story don't buy the short bed
Yup. Dude didn’t do as instructed and broke the differential.
@@He_isI what instruction wasn't followed?
@@jimsomerville3924 They had mentioned that an instructor from Toyota had a list of “how to’s” when it came using the truck’s features, I think. Dude missed a step that probably caused the failure.
When TFL drove this trail it was solid ice.
Lol not the same conditions but okay.
If you want something to break, get Roman from TFL to drive
I think someone knows how to put it low 4x4. lol
Toyota is shitting bricks right now😂.
4 cylinder turbos are the future get over it.
My opinion is that Toyota products are good it’s where there built Quality control is important you cannot compare US to Japan in Japan there build with pride here we just don’t build Japanese vehicles they just don’t care here we build American cars that’s why there mostly garbage it used to be good now look at the employees here they go to work in there own clothes flip flops in Japan strict rules they even wear hard hats and uniforms. Sad I still love my country through we’re lucky to have the strongest Military 🤙🏾🇺🇸
The taco is made in Mexico.
@@HiPlains1 well those Mexicans better learn how to put them together right it’s not defective parts it’s the people that put the together they are Denso parts made in Japan quality part’s 🤷♂️
Man, that engine sounds bad. The knocking sound would drive me crazy.
I will trade you my long bed 23 trd off road straight across for your 24 title for title
Is that switzerland trail?
@knightofelemia1567 i was asking about switzerland trai in Colorado US
It looks like Bunce school road/ iron clads outside of Lyons
Yes. This is the Iron Clads trail.
My neighbor has the same truck an broke his front diff over the weekend an he has 33's, cost him a good bit for a tow truck to to recover him
it can't go up a slight hill.... yikes
rest in peace tacoma
Now in order to keep the Toyota haters off you back, you need to actually break something on the Truck. That way they can feel superior about their brand of Choice.
Looks like it was probably a fluke. Time will tell. I feel like anyone buying a 1st year vehicle should just anticipate early failures. It seems to happen with most vehicles. Toyota definitely has a clear track record of having problems early on and improving with each year.
Should have left the traction control on.
That engine sounds like it has a nasty knock to it. I noticed it on TFL's truck to. I'd be afraid its gonna blow any minute.
you didn't try at the same sitio. you didn't recreate what they done with at same circumstances. I'm disappointed
The dog is having too much fun.
Tires suck... that snow has iced over.....Nothing works in that stuff..
TFL DOESNT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE
The Unrestricted Channel 24 taco broke down 1 week in😂
This proves absolutely nothing. Just because you guys didn’t have problem, doesn’t mean there isn’t one. And if that’s the “limit” then I’m not convinced or impressed. As much as these cost there shouldn’t be any such thing as a “faulty part”
The TFL video doesn't prove much either. They each represent one data point. In a population of thousands of vehicles there will surely be faulty parts no matter the vehicle cost. No one knows yet the root cause of the TFL failer. Faulty part or bad design? Time will tell.
All that is made, can break.
If it's man made it can break.
I think the biggest difference here is you have a rear locker with the TRD off road
TFL has A SR5 and with out the rear wheel both being locked they are putting more stress on the front differential.
TFLs truck is a trd offroad buddy. Rear locker
Toyota broke it when they installed a 4 cylinder engine.
Govt laws. Next car is electric if you don't vote
Yup. You can hear that little 4 banger reving hard to climb that rock formation. All that heat! Imagine it on real off roading situations.
The length of that truck… looks terrible for off-roading.
Upon another look, the proportions look terrible. Reminds me of those high top sprinter vans with the comically small wheels
TFL taco was made in 🇲🇽 😂
Its operators error,
They didn’t deflate tires, rookie mistake. We all know its a basic step 🤦♂️
Toyota trucks. cost over 55K, waaaaaaaaay overkill, the interest on high score credit. 700 and up, it's 6%. $3000 plus registration fee $2400 and the dealer fee at lease $1500 they call it protection!!!! is toooooo much money for this truck with 4 Cyl not superpower for towing., also for Tandra, 70k too much for this cost, buy RAM or Seairra 1500, 1.9% interest. so, the main problem after the covid politic of Toyota changed as more pricy and high Interest.
Traction in snow did not impress me; however, will say that is the tires not necessarily the truck. (Hard to read but believe they say Firestone so lucky to not have the tire disintegrate as well as have poor snow traction.) As for explaining the long bed vs a short bed...it's called break over angle and the long bed will not be as good as a short bed. But still a Taco, so I'll give you a thumbs up, but no subscribe...don't have a Taco, never will have a Taco unless it is the last mid-size truck left in the world.
I was hoping this one failed too. I am not fond of how overpriced this truck has become. I wanted another tacoma, but i dont want to get flack for lifting a 4 banger. Ill continue to keep driving my 07 taco.
They broke more than something, they broke the damn ADD!!! Huge POS!!! I'll keep my 2017 Tundra until it dies.
TFL Didn’t Break Anything The New Trash Tacoma Broke On Its Self .
lame
Tacomas stink. Have for last few years. There is a reason they are the least reliable midsize truck
Troll. Move along. Hahaa
The new Tacoma is ugly as sin
If any vehicle has a TURBO run for your life. Expensive unreliable junk. A 4cylinder turbo 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for the advice!
Thank you for the advice!
Turbo 4 cylinders are the future get over it.
You went on a good day
