I love when you talk about older movies just as much as new release ones, because then I can go and watch them straight away a lot more easily
i love coherence! its one of those movies where the atmosphere made me uncomfortable because it just felt.... real? i seriously need to rewatch it
The whole thing was shot like an improvisational work! The actors and anctresses were given main “actions” to perform at specific times while a lot of the other stuff is improv. Many actors and actresses didn’t know the things other people were going to do.

i love these mini reviews! gives me new movies to add to my list (and a few to avoid). im not a huge zombie movie fan but i recently watched Train to Busan and i CANNOT stop thinking about it. its a korean film but if you can get past reading subtitles, its a wild ride and i highly recommend!

I recommend reading the book The Girl With All the Gifts to anyone who hasn’t, I know it’s stereotypical to say but the book is much better than the movie! I studied the book in a seminar course for my English degree and there are a lot of interesting themes and meanings in the book that do not come across in the movie. The movie = basic action zombie flick, the book = exploration of post-humanism, the value of education, the arts and literature, and more.

Much like World War Z, were the movie was just zombie action and the book was actually individual accounts before, during and after the outbreak worldwide. It was truly made as a history book, like to not forget what happened. I enjoyed the movie but the book made me tear up.
Coherence and Vivarium were both great. And Vivarium was surprisingly sad, I got attached to them!
I love Vivarium so much, it’s somehow fun and miserable at the same time and it messes with your head. Some parts were a little predictable but I feel like it was fitting. I have to watch the other ones you mentioned, I can’t wait!

I liked the concept in The Girl with all the Gifts with how the little girl was like a zombie/human hybrid and being set in a dystopian world but it ultimately let me down.
I recommend reading the book!

VFW is one of my personal favorites as well. my horror buff uncle kept telling me about until I found it months ago and finally watched it. now I would occasionally watch it because I enjoy it

I actually really enjoyed The Girl With All The Gifts. I think the protagonist's choice at the end was really appropriate for her character, if you take into consideration the way she's been treated by the other survivors throughout the movie.
Also the title is a reference to Pandora's Box, and so the last scene of the movie is a good twist on that concept.
But to each their own of course! Thank you for suggesting Coherence, it's now on my To Watch List :)

Anytime any of my favorite youtubers watch Coherence I have to comment and say how much I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE OMMGGG. It is super underrated and lowkey, but I loved it sm and also recommend ❤
I agree with your thoughts on The Girl with all the Gifts. The beginning of the movie I found the idea interesting, but as the movie went on the luster went away.
This is completely unrelated to any of these films but I just realised that I don't think I've ever seen you talk about Ghost Ship? The 2002 film of a salvage crew finding an abandoned presumed missing ocean liner. It's one of the first horrors I watched along with 13 ghosts and I love it. Early 2000's supernatural film, plus, THAT opening scene
Three movies I have waiting on Amazon Prime (not sure if they are good or not, going by the trailer).
1, Blacksite: A lovecraftian scifi/horror film about an Elder God being held at a Blacksite facility.
2. Gonjiam: A South Korean found footage movie set in an insane asylum...Wondering if the Korean can breathe new life into this tired concept
3. The Hive: A secret plane carrying a contagion lands in the woods, near a summer camp, infecting the kids.
i just watched coherence and enjoyed it so much and the cast i really was impressed by how real they all felt and not just characters
PLEASEE watch Forgotten, trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I watched Coherence and Vivarium tonight. I loved them both, they’re both puzzles that the viewer can interpret in their own way which I really enjoy. However, Coherence is the better of the two movies and is honestly one of my favorite movies (reminded me of Interstellar, which is my #1 movie). Coherence is on Hulu and it’s free on RUclips if you search it. I promise you’ll enjoy it.

I ACTUALLY ENJOYED VFW I MEAN YOU GOT A GREAT CAST OF ACTORS WHO USUALLY PLAY BAD GUYS IN MOVIES THAT PLAY THE VETERAN'S.HONESTLY IT REMINDED ME OF A HORROR/SLASHER VERSION OF JOHN CARPENTER'S ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13.
the girl with all the gifts (the book) is amazing, one of my favorites!! hate that the movie was so disapointing and ended up ruining the book for a lot of people (won't even mention what they did to the ending.......🤦)
i really reccomend the movie Before I Wake. im pretty sure it's a netflix original, but i remember just falling in love with the story and how beautiful some of the visuals were. it's been a while since i've seen it though, so don't blame me if it flops for you 🤗
Coherence also had a great soundtrack. Laura Veirs - Galaxies was a very fitting song to accompany the end credits.
i love vivarium so so much, it's not the best movie but i really enjoyed it. the big thing that creeped me out though is just... the child's voice. grossed me out. woof woof woof

I watch your vids mostly because I enjoy your personality. Both types of videos have their pros and cons. These videos are nice because you don't reveal too much about the movie therefore I can decide if I should watch the movie. But the other more in depth vids with spoilers are good to watch when I've seen the movie and I want to see what someone else thought about it and see if they saw things or picked up on things in the film that I didn't see or can help explain the ending or certain things in the movie that I missed or could've confused me.
Coherence and Girl With All The Gifts are some of my favorite underrated horror films. I think the first act outshines the rest of the film, but I personally was a fan of the ending.
I really like this structure and format.... it gives me a lot of new movies to watch !

I loved Vivarium. But, it's definitely not for everyone. I saw a dark, deep commentary underlying it. So, I made a note to myself not to watch it when I'm feeling down bc I found it incredibly dark and kinda depressing. But, I loved it? It's odd. Lol

I love both of those kinds of video. This one for the movies that I haven't watched yet and the individual videos for movies that I've already watched or I don't plan on watching - and the video can change my mind on that
I saw VFW at FrightFest in Glasgow just before lockdown happened, and I really struggled with the lighting in it. And then Joe Begos (who was at the screening) talked about how he was told by others that they should change the lighting and he rebelled against it. It got a lot of cheers from the audience but honestly, I thought it detracted massively from the film. I much preferred Bliss!
The Girl With All the Gifts... meh. I just didn't get the hype with it whatsoever. I haven't read the book though, so maybe I'd like that more.
I have to check out Coherence, I feel like I heard about it at the time it was released but never got around to it. And Vivarium just came on UK Shudder which I'm hyped for as I decided against seeing it at the Glasgow Film Festival! Great reviews as always :)

I loved Vivarium. I thought it was perfect. I understood the meaning of Life Cycle. I thought the same thing. The beginning was slow so when it got bad it was very bad. It was a roller coaster definately.

it's made by the vicious brothers who directed grave encounters 1 and 2
it's a low budget alien abduction story which is surprisingly well executed with great atmosphere, lots of tension, acting and an amazing score
i feel like it's sort of an overlooked gem in the teen horror genre and i loved it

The plot of vivarium sounds like a episode from The Magnus Archives ( a very GOOD horror podcast, if you don't listen to them you MUST) I wanna watch it!
I remember reading girl with all the gifts when I was like ten and being traumatized during the cat scene.
