Gibson should do something like this Trog. Mix it up a bit. It would be good I reckon?
19:51 black screen + background music
Hiho, saw your great video but I still have a question about the guitar due to some rumours I've heard. Does the switch below the pickups interfere with playing and/or strumming?
I will post this comment also separate below the video to make other people see it, since I really hope to get an answer to it.
I switched out the saddles for Jaguar saddles - now the floating bridge works like intended.
F***ING wow. The guitar sounds amazing. I really was not expecting that at all. Definitely bizarre looking, but all the positions sound really, really good. I was especially surprised how raunchy and good the bridge pickup sounds with higher gain.
It should be called the Shaguar
Austin powers already took that name for his car
First thing I thought was that it looked like a 60s Japanese guitar!
I got one in December, like new for $1300, love this thing, warmer sound than a regular Stratocaster. Great review!
The straguar? Really?
Look at how crazy that thing looks
Give it a fitting name like jatratoguarster or staratocaguarjacocaster
True!
To fit the name on a starstocaguarjacocaster, theyll need a longer headstock
@@mark-dietz stamp it along the fretbord
Lawyer Morty. Thats crazy, and I like it!!!
@@mark-dietz like if you think i should be the new designer for fender
I thought it sounded great! If it didn’t have that horrible switch location, I’d consider getting one. Those pickups in a normal strat 👍
The yellow paint is the undercoat, exposed because a bit of the topcoat stuck to the bottom of the tremolo tale piece.
yeah. candy apple red has a gold undercoat. at least for fender for sure.
I liked the sound/tone of this guitar. I can certainly imagine it played through a cranked Marshall.
That is the best sounding guitar I have heard you demo! I have only seen a fraction of your vids, but this thing had one killer tone after another!!! Nice playing as well. I am intrigued. Plus there is a major strat tone going on! Neat guitar.
Brilliant idea from Fender. I love this series.
I actually like some of the sounds more than I thought I would. Bridge, neck, n+m, n+b, and all three are cool sounds
love all the fender videos recently!
I honestly love how that guitar looks, it looks so effing awesome!!
I like the tone in all selections both clean and distorted.
I really like the looks of that ja·
gwaar and strat mash up. The red with that pick guard and chrome is cool.
Wow! This thing sounds incredible with gain in all pickup positions.
Sounds really good, better than I expected.
This would be a great guitar for surf rock.
yup, I love it but not for2k
Or grunge
I love this one! If I want the chimmy Strat tone I will play a Strat, but this one is more mid and darker than a normal Fender tone. And it is beautiful!! I saw you sold it quick.
Love the colour of that Strat / Jaguar, such a looker
Thanks Trogly, this guitar was a blast, Iam surprised Eastwood Guitars didn't put something like this out.Love the Frisco vibe ! Great Show BTW !
Trogly, I have to be honest, i think it's absolutely hideous.
So How much can I buy it for?
I'd say the main thing that makes it look bad is just that switch, they just put it in the worst place imaginable and then put a chrome plate to highlight it.
@@Rowe4900candymachine I think the main thing is the opposing curves on the knob plate and lower body.
The Jag-caster man!!! The Jag-caster! Great review Trogly!!!
Interesting sales technique - discuss all the flaws, irritants and personal negatives.
Even though I enjoy the videos, I'm not sure which is harder on my ears: "Jag-Wire," "JAG-you-urr," or "Jag-oo-Ar"?
Lol 😂 I say "Jag U R " 🇬🇧😉👍
@@shaunw9270 The word originates in Latin America, and (being in Texas) I'm used to either the 2-syllable Latin pronunciation beginning with the 'h'-sound or, more predominantly, the same 2-syllable pronunciation with the English hard-'j' and untrilled-'r'. To my ears, the word "jaguar" is similar to how I feel about Mexican food: the further you get away from Mexico, the worse it is.
I think is jag oo are. In italy it's called giaguaro and it's the most similar pronounciation of the name
@@Krisfit138 Ha ha ! That's a good analogy 👍
jaguar and strats are my most played and favourite guitar and this is just the dream guitar for me, cant wait to get my hands on one, if i can they are so hard to find
I like the "cluttered" look it has
If the headstock matched the body it would be epic looking!
Agreed.
It has the jet-age 60s look, a bit like a Hofner Galaxie. It is an interesting idea. Good demo.
The guitar was awesome. Glad this channel is moving away from the boring Gibsons and are showing more rockin Fenders these days.
Love it, thanks for posting it.
@Austin, could you please put a magnet to the "claw" and see if it sticks? A permeable metal shield around the pickup will have a much different effect than a non-permeable metal shield around the pickup.
I see a lot of comments from people who like the sound of it, add me to that list.
It may look weird but it sure sounds amazing
for me, sounded way better than a strat. the strat is its own thing, but if i was to have either a strat or this thing, i would pick this one.
It's quirky, I like it . Fender did initially use silver base coats on Candy Apple red guitars but switched to gold (during the mid 60's) because they thought it gave a warmer hue.
Honestly, I really like the sound from this beast. I'm also a fan of versatility to this mad degree. I don't know, it all just kind of comes together for me. Sign me up in some kind of midnight blue and we'd be in business... if I had that kind cash hanging around, of course.
This guitar is beautiful!!! This would be my guitar of choice!
Although the looks aren't my thing, I must admit that thing sounds awesome. Some of your best tones on the channel, IMO.
I think these are pretty neat. Unique.
I love it. Excellent guitar. 🎸😎
Sounds really damn good!
had the same issue with my Fender locking tuners on my 07 Mim strat. I took a wound string and filed the inside of the tuner, it no longer broke strings after that.
Yay the jag strat!
This thing looks like one of those 60s Japanese teiscos haha
I hate it but I love it
That’s what I was thinking
Sounded great!
This is the coolest guitar video series out there by Far
That was the best I ever heard you play. I think the guitar found you
Nice looking instrument and like the darker coloured rosewood as opposed to the often found lighter shade rosewood on many guitars.
Would love to see you do a review of the new Fender Maverick in gold. That to me is such an attractive guitar.
It's not out until mid-July. I pre-ordered Ultraburst... but I might change my mind haha. I just liked the bursted headstock
That guitar sounds super good
I want one! It looks so unique yet so cool
I have Fanos, Bilts, yet I play this one the most.I love it. I can't wait for April when they release the Stratmaster.
That selector switch is right in the way of strumming!
I loved the sounds it was making, and I also think a 3 ply black pickguard would make it look striking.
That was pure 90s alt rock. Love it. It took 30 years, but the Jag finally found its people (because those people were broke and the pawnshops were full of Jags the boomers tried and rejected...)
Unless you're one of those strange people who rests their hand on the bridge, that toggle looks like it will really get in your way.
Good ol' Jagooar
Still better than some americans pronouncing it jag-you-wire
@@2small4theMall nobody says jag-YOU-wire in the U.S. for any purpose than to clown a Brit.
You can call your car whatever you like, no problem. However, some then act as though they created the word and can tell people how to pronounce it. And this is where the fun begins :o)
Last time I was this early trogly didn't talk about fenders
I think it looks really cool, but that 3 way switch placement i can already tell is completely awful. If anything they should have kept it simple and put a 5 way switch where the rhythm circuit is and maybe just have a push pull to throw the neck and bridge pickups into series. Would be way more useable
Always been an LP player, but this one soinds amazing too.. will surely fit my genre
It looks like something you'd find in a Sears catalog in the 60s
They got the lines and color right on that candy apple red. It looks really surfy. The tortoise pickguard is awesome too. Id love to see a creamy white one with the same pickguard. It looks a little like a "Burns guitar" to me. I'm really into that guitar.
It sounds amazing! May have to put the same pups in my Strat...
I'm not sure they'll fit in a strat. They are a little wider. At least the pickguard will have to be modified. I bought an extra set just because they are available. I'm thinking in a tele, or even an acoustic guitar.
Is that "trogly getting better at guitar" series still in the works? I'm looking forward for it
It's one of those, I don't really know how to start it type of deals haha. Maybe I'll give it a try this week
@@Trog i think we'd all really appreciate it
The Trogly's Guitar Show Maybe start the series with setting up a small/proper practice area or even guitar care tips.
Also, the reason the Fender locking tuners keep cutting the strings is that you are tightening the lock wheel up too much. No need to crank it down super tight, just very snug will do it. The hardened anvils in the tuners used to "grab/hold" the string ends are easily hard enough to cut through them too.
I really like the look of it.
That wiring is the reason I like Telecasters.
I love this thing! Holy smokes I could sit for HOURS with my Helix and pen and paper and come up with every sound I like from every record through history. The finish is beautiful and the whole vibe is goofy chic...and I want it! I will head over to see if it's available. You take nickles?
I just got a 50s style Baja Telecaster. It has a stock 4-way pickup switch, so you get the pickups in series and parallel, and a S1 switch for phasing. It's a MIM but designed by Custom Shop with a No-caster bridge pickup and Twisted Tele neck pickup and brass bridge barrels. Had to have the butterscotch and black! I should paint my Baja Tacoma to match, chrome the tailgate with a pickup decal, skunk racing stripe, chrome dome hub caps, instead of 4x4 it would be 4-way drive, nitrous S1 switch .....
This review and opening up to expose the circuit layout ..made me think it would be nice to see a PRS Silver Sky reviewed and dismantled. I looked through your video history and sadly didn't find one.
I'm on a waiting list for the Nebula finish one. One day we'll see one
Strats with diferent/no pickguard = heaven
Soundsterrific
Sounds awesome. Looks....OK.
Interesting guitar! I also like the tortise shell pick guard with the red paint.
But like the Jag you reviewed, it has a lot going on electronically. A Tele with a hot pickup set, and a Jag trem???🤔
I think it looks way better in the video than in the pictures
That's freakin' beautiful
I would like a Strat, telecaster style (No rounded sides), with binding like a les paul, with 3 pickups like a black beauty!
You could get an Aerodyne strat, sink three PAF humbuckers in there...
You DO realize what the binding's for, right?
It's so beautiful 😢
Please buy and review one of the troublemaker teles, maybe the black beauty one!
The name is Jagstrat! i wish i had one of these. they look so cool!
I already to see an after market opportunity for this thing. Brass spacers for the bridge instead of the stupid plastic crap for better resonance. Also, real traditional candy apple red uses Gold undercoat not silver so I like that. Wish Fender would bring back CA Red finish for Strats and Teles(Personal Fav)great review! thanks
Candy Apple Green and Candy Apple Blue as well. Heck, throw purple, orange, and yellow in there as well.
Hiho, saw your great video but I still have a question about the guitar due to some rumours I've heard. Does the switch below the pickups interfere with playing and/or strumming?
I'd love one of those.
When you turned it over I noticed it has the neck adjustment screw.
Man that guitar looks and sounds awesome. Wish they had lefties...
I love Stratguar.
Ahhhh this one's on my list !!! Just bought a parallel tele strat today from ebay - mint with all case candy etc - getting it tomorrow as it's actually local !!! The other one I am totally head over heals in love with is the thinline f hole orange tele that looks like a gretch - I must have one :)
Edit: Wow - that just sounds awsome !!!! I will own the jagstrat - it will be mine 😎
AND ...what would be the point if it just sounded like a jag or a strat ? It's supposed to be different - that's the point !
The mustang saddles don't allow the strings to lie perfectly straight - which robs a lot of resonance from the floating bridge design. It needs stock jaguar saddles
It doesn't sound trashy enough for me after getting to the sound demo. It kinda sounded exactly like a strat with a heavy duty paint job. I love the look of it. I wonder if ditching those claws would do anything to the tone. Is it shorter scale like a Jag usually is? My Mustang at home has a more spongey tone going on, and I know that has the 24" short scale.
this thing looks so cool, I wish they would make a squier version
Cool!
You would think by now Fender would have got the hang of neat wiring looms. This guitar still has the paint in the routes and presumably little drifts of buffing compound waiting to get inside the electronics. On the 2018 Player guitars it seems that Fender have worked out how to paint and buff the body first and then cut the routes really neatly with no wood tear out. The Players are really impressive, although they also have messy wiring.
I like it!!! beats the heck outta the custom shop crap I just saw from namm, geez,i guess ugly was the theme this year,go fig.
A white tortoise shell pick guard would look really good IMO.
Shangrular - The land where your guitar never ages. I have noticed that these limited edition guitars tend to sell out, which means you need to subscribe to Fender notifications to avoid ending up as SOL.
the 25.5 inch scale length seems like a wasted opportunity. Could've gone halfway between the two and given it a 24.75 inch to make it truly feel like kind of a hybrid
The "Strag" is a strange looking beast with a lot of cool tones. The pickup selector look so unwieldy and poorly placed, I have to wonder if it was put there for cosmetics in order to feature another chrome plate. Thanks for the coverage!
Yes... thank you for reading my Instagram message.
3:19 It's "Teisco", not "Tiesco"
More important: it's JAG-WAR, not Jag-you-are!!!
Good god, I can't stand it when he says that. That's the pronunciation for the British automobile manufacturer, NOT the guitar or the feline.
Feel free to watch Fender's own reps say it, Trogly.
robotsongs no one cares
@@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer check the comments. You are wrong.
@@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer I do.
and doesn't it sound almost as bad as a Teisco?
Isn't that pickup selector off the johnny marr signature jag?
Would love to see your review of the Johnny Marr jag.
Danielle Lightfoot there’s a lot of the same features of this guy as on his. Especially the switch, but his is 4 way I think. Definitely my favorite guitarist of all time
skeeterd5150 I hear you, particularly on the blade switch and bridge design. but the pickups on the JM aren’t like the standard Jag pups these are based on. And the wiring scheme and switching options are different on the JM from the jag-strat .
I wanna add a piezo and have the wheel control be the volume... damn I need one of these!
