I like the fact Fender dare to inovate and cretae something different, rather than just already known, Tele, strat, jaguar etc. It is something to point out. Great job!
Agreed. Really bad placement. I would be smacking that switch all the time. Even when he plays it, he is passing through the space where it would be in bridge position.
TheFilmPunk I agree. It’s pretty cool. And actually, the whole concept of the Parallel Universe series is to be different and a bit unusual, which in the tradition-dominated guitar market equates to a limited appeal and therefore matches with a limited production run. Fender don’t need many people to love them to sell the run of each instrument out.
TheFilmPunk It’s definitely designed for a certain type of person, someone who likes that “something different.” Which also means that the the majority of people will hate on it.
The pickups sound spot on. The jag I had in 1980 was around a 69, but these pickups sound exactly like the ones I had, congratulations! They have that "air" quality that you just don't find on other guitars, with a unique frequency emphasis pattern and bite. and I played it with heavy distortion when Cobain probably wasn't even born yet, lol. Nobody liked it but me, I invented grunge. Anyway this sounds better than the original due to the longer scale length, bridge profile, maybe the radius. I think this design actually "works" better than the original, except of course for the slicker than the insane action of the original, which is probably infinitely impossible to beat for a non-flat fretboard. The tuning on yours sounds much more stable, mine was quirky. I had an olympic white, the finish was peeling as if it were latex under lacquer. Great job, this is a dream guitar axe.
I tried it. Jag pickups are bright by design, plus you have a long scale length, making it even brighter. You can kinda get a sense of it in this demo, particularly around 2:10. It's a lot to wield. Not easy to dial in a good tone in my brief experience.
Why the 5-way blade switch instead of the jaguar’s traditional on-off switch? That would be low profile and allow you to simplify pickup combinations. You could even have the strangle switch on the upper bout along with a rhythm circuit or something interesting.
Ian Hart Because individual on-off switches are a nightmare for quick pickup combination changes perhaps? This configuration allows total flexibility, the ability to “preset” different configurations into position 3, and the speed and convenience of totally changing the pickup selection with a flick of a single switch.
David Burke I hadn’t considered that as I tend to not change pickups on the fly, but you’re right. Typically those switches are hit on accident and require more dexterity to activate.
I love it. 24 scale would of been better for me but 25.5 is great as well. Very cool. I love the fact Fender is getting ballsy in their designs and not playing it safe and boring. This and that Jazzmaster with the filtertron deals are just awesome
Diet Guitar Well Fender make a number of different versions of those too. This comments section is beginning to sound a bit like comments on the Gibson 2019 line up! Not every guitarist has to like every guitar that Fender or Gibson make. We are allowed to have different opinions and preferences. 😋
Cool idea! But I wish the pick guard would follow the natural curve tof he lower side of the guitar. The pick guard looks strange curving inwards like that.
@Rocknrolladube Well, there's a whole load of other models they could have done. For a start, instead of this model they could have used a Jaguar body and scale length with a Strat pickup configuration instead. People are loving offsets right now and Novo is doing that pretty well with SSS type guitars. I was actually looking forward to this series but once I actually saw it, there wasn't a single model that tickled my fancy. I went and built what I wanted with Warmoth instead. I'm sorry that you feel the need to call someone a turd on the internet simply because they don't agree with you. I'm sure there are much better things you could do with your time.
@@troyl200 he doesn't need to elaborate, the short scale length is a key part of the Jaguar, also it's a Jaguar Strat mix so it would make sense to go either way as far as scale length goes.
I can see the "Stratguar" in my mind - Alder Body, Slim C Roasted Maple with 12" Pau Ferro Fretboard, Medium Jumbo Frets , 610mm scale, TOM Bridge, HSS Pickups - in Jade Pearl Metallic - oh... and Strat matching Headstock of course 🤔🥺
Honestly this seems to sound great and look pretty good too. I don’t understand the hate- some of the other Parallel Universe models don’t look too good though 😂
@@Alexmustdie-zy6kz neither did his mustangs, but he nodded them to have humbuckers. But yeah, Kurt liked pawnshop guitars, and I don’t think he’s ever bought a new guitar in his life. The Jagstang custom build was the only exception but it may have been a gift or a sponsorship deal.
This is getting closer to what I'm looking for but, what I really want is a combination of body and neck features from a Jaguar and Stratocaster added with bridge and control features from a Telecaster, and Jazzmaster. And, at least one himbucker with one or possibly 2 singles. Also, with a bound neck like the '65 models.
As mentioned, that 5-way is possibly* badly placed - If the top controls depend on that to be in a specific position to be active, bumping your pickup selector could have unexpected results. *will actually know when I've played one :) Very cool. Totally love these parallel universe from Fender. I'm lusting after the Meteora, Jazz Tele and Troublemaker.
Why didn’t you guys make a video about the whiteguard strat? That guitar is beautiful, and without a doubt my favorite of the parallel universe series. But there’s no videos on it!!
You have the guitar strap on up-side-down. "Fender" on the front should be right-side-up and the adjustment buckle goes in the back. Or is that part of the "Parallel Universe" thing?
Has some cool features but a few weird quirks like needing it in the middle position to do special switching means you can't on the fly, should have some series switching and that switch is in an annoying spot.
Bit shitty of Fender to take all of Johnny Marr's ideas which made his signature Jag unique - the extra stable bridge, the modified second circuit, the single switch selector - and stick them on all their other Jags and Jag-based models without mentioning him.
Please make a Jazzmaster with Strat pickups. 3 single coils, 5 way switch, master volume, master tone. I will pay a healthy sum. This guitar is a novelty toy. The Strat/Jazzmaster is a tool for creation.
Also: what's wrong with a matching peghead? Fender USA should do that a lot more than they currently do; I think they do it more at Fender Japan, and it always looks great.
Too much negativity in this comment section. I don't really like it either but I'm not gonna throw a fit about it. If you don't like, don't buy it! Theres no need for all this stupid animosity. Grow up people.
The Jag-Stang was arguably the first “Parallel Universe”’guitar. How about a reboot?
Goddamn that thing was the most hideous guitar I've ever seen. And you bet your ass I'd love to see Fender reissue it.
Parker Davidson I mean it was very comfortable
The neck on it felt so good
Wish granted!
It happened
That's so beautiful. Don't understand people who think it's ugly they must be blind.
Got this and can’t put it down. Amazing tones for days.
I like the fact Fender dare to inovate and cretae something different, rather than just already known, Tele, strat, jaguar etc. It is something to point out. Great job!
Exactly! It's a bit sad that fender hasn't been pumping any new exciting guitar types.
It’s nice to see Tosin’s brother getting some air time.
I actually dig this a ton... super sick!
The switch below the pickups is in a terrible location
Sal How so?
Jacob Swigert it’s right by the middle pick up so if you’re strumming your hand could hit the switch
Agreed. Really bad placement. I would be smacking that switch all the time. Even when he plays it, he is passing through the space where it would be in bridge position.
only if ur fat
Other than that, it looks great imo
i have it. it sounds very good and over all it’s a great guitar.
i dont get why people are calling this guitar ugly i think it look really cool i want this guitar

It reminds me a lot of how Burns guitars look.

A very good looking guitar! This is the kind of stuff I enjoy seeing from Fender. Great video!
I'd really like to have this guitar and I love the way it looks.
Better than the modern V... great guitar fender nice job
This is a beautiful guitar
I love it. I'd prefer surf green or vintage white, but they guitar is beautiful and it had some really nice and practical features.
I tried it. Jag pickups are bright by design, plus you have a long scale length, making it even brighter. You can kinda get a sense of it in this demo, particularly around 2:10. It's a lot to wield. Not easy to dial in a good tone in my brief experience.
wow! A Strat with that awesome Jag tremelo bar!

mine's coming in in a few weeks through Sam Ash and I couldn't be more excited!!!
It sounds huge. Great job, Fender! To bad I can't afford a 5th Fender guitar :/
It's cool but I think I'd prefer a good old fashioned Jag
Diet Guitar Well Fender make a number of different versions of those too.

Holy shit, look at that cleft. God damn.
The design team for this series literally had zero imagination. A few tweaks here and there and they would've been great
Maybe you should apply for the job. What the hell were they thinking, not contacting an internet turd like you for advice?
@@JohnBarrow1961 You mention internet turds but it's pretty ironic because you appear to be the biggest turd here. Well done!

They should've kept the shorter scale neck of the jaguar. It's a key element of the jaguar tone.
Elaborate... it's also not a jaguar.

Best fusion ever.
I'm not digging the look (yet) but those are actually very interesting functions!!
Cool, but can you do the same model at Squier brand?
Jesus I love this!

Nah it doesn't have an humbucker

Should have just done a strat with the jaguar tremolo and 24" scale. Maybe put the switches somewhere new. This thing might also way 9.5 pounds.
About time, I've been waiting for this kind of thing to happen for a long time
I really wish I had the money for this now. Seems so versatile and also quirky lookin'.
I want that Jag Strat!
Beautiful guitar!!"
Part of the Jaguar tone comes from the scale length. Keeping the Strat scale simply makes this a Strat with a rhythm circuit.
Wow this is a great strat !!!!
beautiful
I think this guitar should be made permanently it is a great looking guitar
I suspect the air sound is related to the pickup phase wiring, in combination with the bridge plate.
Fro what i have heard, many people dislike this guitar but i think it looks awesome. What iw your opinion?
thats nice
Madness...sweet madness..
Preciosa
Gran sonido!!!
Gracias por la demo
I would buy that

This thing with a Top-Mount Floyd Rose would be my dream! :-)
i was dreaming about a JagStrat, a whamo! there it is.
i want one so bad
release this please🙏🙏🙏
I want it.
I wanna get this but put a Floyd rose change all 3 pickups dimarzio x2n on the neck emg81 Middle Seymour Duncan dimebucker on the bridge
Kinda fugly, but I really like the wiring options!
I'd want mine customized. Black paint job and gold hardware and pickups.
Straguar!
I like it.
straight outta ideas

colors cool
The jagstang is arguably more iconic imo
I like it 💙

Squier version needed
It's a nice guitar! They did the pickguard dirty though. 😅
why that orangey red colour on this, and the new mexican stratocaster? what was wrong with candy apple red?
This actually is meant to be CAR
Also: what's wrong with a matching peghead? Fender USA should do that a lot more than they currently do; I think they do it more at Fender Japan, and it always looks great.
It's hard to tell what the colors of guitars actually look like from pictures and videos.
It's not orangy red - it's candy apple red with a gold undercoat. It's really stunning in person and catches the light beautifully.
The Straguar
They could've avoided the complex pickup selection by just using a jaguar's switches
i think original switch will be replaced for 4 button 2 way switch (like a squier bass six switch) by customers
Left hand Para Uni?

Yours is the most negative comment.
They should have made the top cutaway like the normal jaguar.
The jagstrat
I think this looks excellent despite the whiners below.
I'll take one in all black
Gawd
COOL papu
The straguar
How many were made???
Kurt's dream has come true
How come I got closed captioning?
So cool but the lower area of the pickguard/switch plate, nooo
that pickup switch position is gonna be a yikes from me
He should've played "Parallel Universe" by RHCP
Does it come left handed
