📚 Description: The final Troublemaker Telecaster has finally been released by Fender! PARALLEL UNIVERSE VOLUME II TROUBLEMAKER TELE® DELUXE BIGSBY®
In today's video we will unbox and take an indepth look at this new Troublemaker tele and most importantly go over it's rather tricky control layout so we know what all the push/push pots do!
I've been having issues with my GoPro loosing footage and audio while recording. I initially unboxed two of these this episode, but that footage was corrupted.

This is a pretty cool guitar that has lots of tonal opportunities. I would've changed a few cosmetics up to get it closer to Black Beauty specs, but it sounds nice!

Iz it fender silver burst day
Thanks for the review Austin.
I'll agree with you about the binding, multi-ply would have been great.
All the switching options are nice but maybe too complicated.
Would have been nice to see Les Paul Black Beauty pickup switching with each pickup being able to be tapped.
Still a nice effort by Fender that kind of falls short.
This Black version makes the cream version look more desirable.
It definitely looked better with your pin stripe mash up lol
@@hkguitar1984 I have a 2018 Parallel Tele, and am sure glad I have my electronics instead of this. I would never get all this figured out and memorized. I’d rather be playing guitar.
It looks to me like the discolorarion on the pickups is from the plastic. The area around the pole pieces looks different because the plastic doesn't touch the cover there. Just a thought.
QC-ing this guitars electronics in the factory must be a nightmare.
To be honest, I’d like the troublemaker telecaster to stay a permanent thing, if Gibson is ok with it.
nah fuck Gibson. Fender will be fine
Authentic
Only if we get a 'freaky firebird' 😂😁
Hell nah. Gibsons are great. But, there is no need for Gibson to be ok with it. No infringements here..... Fender is allowed to make this guitar without approval from Gibson
@@crypticreality8484 in fact fender can build a literal les paul as long as the headstock and name are different. a whole cottage industry existed to do this, from PRS to Collings to Heritage to ESP to, i think, squire in the early 2000s. and that is just the bigger names in the no longer cottage industry, for instance, the appetite for destruction LP was a luthier made copy.
Damn this Fender replicates the Gibsons down to the crappy workmanship and insulting retail price, impressive!
so true man
More Gibson slander! Bet you ain’t ever owned one or even played it
@@RJ-vv8he I have never owned one because 95% of the ones I tried were shitty guitars. Shoddy fretwork, tooling marks, paint on the binding, terrible tuning stability, and uninspiring sound... I've seen older Gibsons that were (very) expensive but cool guitars though, I'm mainly talking about what Gibson has put out in the last 15 years. Also I don't like weight relief. Not saying I'll never own a Gibson but I have yet to try one that speaks to me. In the meantime my japanese Tokai is wayyyyy better than the Gibsons I've tried for a fraction of the price. And since I'm french I couldn't care less about the american pride so I'm not biased.
@@the_hippykiller22 this comment ain’t it. Weight relief is garbage I’ll admit but all this shit ur saying about their QC is wrong. I’ve played many gibsons in my life and a lot of them from the original collection and they are easily the best guitars I’ve ever held. Absolutely nothing wrong with them. Expensive yes but Gibson has been like that ever since they came out. Google it and take into account inflation and you’ll see. The slander is so obnoxious cuz 90% of the time people don’t know wtf they’re talking about
Even the case smells!
That's a weird looking Les Paul Custom Black Beauty...
Like a tele had a baby with a les paul custom.
I was on the fender website earlier today and I was checking out this guitar and I thought “I wonder when trogly will look at this one”
I've been playing for 40 years, 10 of them professionally. I have never seen a more beautiful guitar than this.
Man I wish someone would do this type of in-depth analysis of bass guitars! I watch your channel to learn about guitars even though I rarely play anything with more than 4 strings. Thanks Trogly for all the great vids.
Yay, I was watching old videos and refreshing RUclips waiting for today’s video
Oh jeez, this one makes me feel things in places. What a wonderful synthesis of Tele and LP.
That is one classy looking guitar! Thanks for the extra effort of finding all of the sound possibilities from Fender.
I would ABSOLUTELY love that tele! That looks awesome! I love the strat headstock on it too.
I’m with you on it needing a little more. I’m a massive fender fan but this model feels lacking somehow, like someone got carried away with the electronics and forgot about the looks. Some sort of carved top would have been incredible, the triple binding was definitely an oversight! Great work as usual. Thanks for helping me stay sane during lockdown 🙏 *continues to binge old Trogly vids*
JUST DISCOVERED THIS GUITAR YESTERDAY, AND IT'S INCREDIBLE AND NOW ONE OF MY FAVES AND NEED TO HAVE GUITARS.
That switching system makes my head hurt
It's basically just coil taps for the bridge and neck, and an on/off for the middle pickup.
@@acarlovonsexron1994 Yeah, I will never understand why so many electric guitarists know so little of their instruments. By the way, this guitar uses coil splitting rather than coil tapping.
Those were some of the best gain tones I've heard on this channel, I think.
I personally like the single binding! I think that it adds just the right amount of contrast to the classic Telecaster body shape. Now it just needs chrome, or nickel, hardware.
I have one on order and hope to get it very soon...Such a great looking Guitar...Thx, Trogly, for the review!.....:)
I love your channel! Fantastic content and a great production! I dig the camera style. Very informative videos! One day, I wanna buy from you. I know you will do a proper setup and confirm authenticity of any guitar you may come across. I really want some quality and I know you can find it and in a great fashion!
Take care, man! Much love from central Texas!
It's crazy how much that little "poker chip" adds to the overall vibe. I'd take it a step further even and swap the knobs for some speed knobs. Really cool guitar!
Thank you professor trogly for clearing up the confusion with fenders controls on this troublemaker.
Thank you for helping make the last half hour of work bearable
Nice review - thanks!
That axe is stunning! Just cannot justify the price. Loving that more companies are doing the push push thing for the pots.
I like it , glad you said something on the weight. I looks heavy , got A , C C R tone to it as well as Beatles. Prefect for 60's - 70's music. Ready enjoyed it . Thanks Trog Daddy.
That gold neck plate is a nice touch
I love the options with the pickups on this one!
I wanted this until now. Thanks good review.
HERE WITHIN 16 MINUTES NEW RECORD WOOOOOOO
Also hi from Utah love the vids!
what a beauty looks and sounds amazing
Ah damn man I thought this was gonna be your custom order. Oh well still looks like an awesome Tele!
Discoloration on the pickups is from bubbles in the protective plastic. You can remove it with a bit of deoxit on a paper towel.
I like this! And I’m not crazy about black guitars; they show every fingerprint in the world-but this looks cool! I’d switch the control layout to individual volume controls for each pickup, with push-push coil-splitting on each, and a master tone. And a Vibramate Spoiler for the Bigsby.
Very nice guitar. Love the LOOK of gold hardware but prefer chrome/satin chrome both for looks and longevity. I would like to put a Warmoth 24 3/4" conversion neck with their shredder profile made with maple and a maple fretboard, locking tuners and tilt headstock without string trees.
Woah what a cool guitar 😍😍😍😍 hope to have one someday 😁😁😁
Great looking guitar!
i like the coil choices and block inlays better looking than just dots. bigsby a bonus.
I wanted this Tele/Strat 29 years ago to match my black fretless wonder. Tone is wicked !
Welcome back, chocolate ice!
I think the discoloration of the pickups is just where the plastic covering wasn't tight to the metal and allowed some air in there. My guess is it won't take long before you don't notice it any longer as the rest of the gold finish takes on the same oxidation.
This tele is insane. I must figure out the wiring schematic and try this.
I wouldnt be surprised if they have a little PCB switchboard in there to facilitate all that switching.
Coil tap/split is easy with 4 conductor wire and a push pull pot, middle on is essentially an on/off switch to direct out.
@@lordmanshaft1112 ...and at 11:31, there it is! That's a dealbreaker for me, I only use handwired point-to-point guitars for the most pristine toan ;)
The switching scheme is simple; here is the entire scheme in a few sentences:
1. The selector switch works as on a Les Paul.
2. Activating the first volume knob's switch splits (not taps) the neck pickup.
3. Activating the second tone knob's switch adds the middle pickup in parallel with the bridge pickup.
4. Activating the second volume knob's switch splits (not taps) the bridge pickup.
@@joermnyc Firstly, coil splitting is not synonymous with coil tapping (this guitar uses coil splitting). Secondly, the middle pickup is not wired directly to the output jack: this is why it is impossible to use the neck and middle pickups together.
It's beautiful, Austin!
The switching is not all that difficult. Just think of being able to split the neck and/or bridge and disabling the middle if you want.
I too would have liked to be able to split the middle pup and also add it to the neck pup.
I have an Epi LP Custom Pro. Only two pups but you can split either or both and also has a push/pull phase switch that works with both pups on. Sounds amazing!
It's perfect the way it is!! Im a little concerned you just played a riff I was playing the other day, I'm jealous I want that bad girl here with me plugged in..
Woof.
So, I've been a Trogly admirer for some time...
I record A LOT. I gravitate towards two types of instruments (acoustic and electric): very versatile; wonderful at the thing it does best.
I knew the Fender three pickup Telecaster Parallel ii with Bigsby piqued my interest. I also knew that it was a jillion bucks.
That said. PERFECT... WORTH IT...
I screen-shot Trogly's nice chart on how the controls work (as I have yet to see it elsewhere and Fender has taken the guitar's page down for now). ESPECIALLY Since it (apparently) has nice AlNiCo iv magnets in it!
Thank you for the video and for finding out the coil specs.
Warmest regards,
Jim of Vivid Peace
i love the look of these tele deluxes
Love the switch. "I'm gonna kick this thing over to Rowdy"
I love the colors of the case.
Sounds like so many great guitars in one.
Boy, that sure looks like a cool case.
i like the way my epiphone firebird 7 handles 3 pickups. 3 volume and 1 tone. no coil taps but middle position is all 3 pickups pick which you want live with volume controls, a sensible unconfusing setup.
The three pickup configuration and tonal possibilities are that of the old Gibson ES-5 or ES-5 Switchmaster.
Hey Trogly, great vid. Always love a good Les Paul/Tele crossover. You should try and get your hands on one of the Korean made Fender Telecaster Custom FMT HH models, particularly the later run of Korean ones with the Seymour Duncan pick-ups. Maybe for a Fender Friday or Trade Tuesday episode. They're a great 'modern' take on a LPxTele with a beautifully set neck and a slimmer, contoured body and really rock hard although the wider D-shape neck is not to all tastes. I have an earlier Korean one in which I have replaced the original Fender pick-ups with some Dimarzios. It's an absolute joy to play (if you like the neck) and I love the look of it in the cherry red with the flame maple top and the bound neck with giant 'full moon' abalone inlays. Gorgeous
TY for that! I just took a quick look...I just found my new guitar! Fender finally got it right! I've had a few: 72 Telecaster Deluxe, 67 Coronado II, 2000 MIM Tele; all fine guitars, all fun to play, but nothing ever out-played my 64 SG. This is beyond outrageous, like an SG with more mahogany. Gotta go drool some more.
Man i LUV your reviews nut can you try to get your hands on Washburn 3st dimebag,i its a hell of a guitar.
A much easier way to think about the controls:
Tone down: regular H-H with coil splits on the volumes.
Tone up: HHH, tied to bridge.
I had an SG Custom with this setup years ago. Once you start thinking like that, it's way less complicated.
Yep, I do not understand why so many guitarists have a phobia of switches.
Whoa. Last time I was this early, Gibson was still under Henry J.
Cool guitar!
Cor. All three pickups dude. I need that in my life!!!!
The controls don't seem that complicated, they just explain it weird.
The push/push buttons basically do the following:
Vol 1 - splits neck pickup
Vol 2 - splits bridge pickup
Tone 2 - turns middle pickup for positions 2 and 1 on the pickup selector
EASY!
Yep!
Very beautiful guitar.
Omgosh I love it kinda like a black beauty
its so freaky yet so cool
This is the first Telecaster that I like more than my 1983 Telecaster Elite that is also black with white binding.
That's a nice looking fender.great looking fretboard.sounds like a fender
The tone with all pickups on reminds me of my Firebird VII😎🎱☮🔊🖖👍
It's a great looker, but man that wiring is as mad as a box of frogs !!! I'd need to take a full course on 'programming' this baby :)
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
A very solid sound...
I recently got a tele in seafoam green with a all rosewood neck and it's the best sounding tele I've ever heard. I highly recommend getting one. Gibson humbuckers sound better imo.
Interesting guitar. I would yes.
I don’t normally think much of telecasters, but this one is absolutely beautiful!
My Telecaster doesn't think much of you .
If those are the 'real' new wide range with the Copper Nickle Iron alloy pickups I've heard about, I'm in and need to sell some 60s and 70s Fender & Orange amps.
I must have one!
such a beautiful gear
the stain on the gold pickups maybe the 'cause of oxidation as time goes by after production. Those were the area where the clear tape didn't stick on to.
I'd love it if they put this out in the Texas Tea finish!
Trog, why did you stop using the neck profiler guage in your demos?
Nice tribute to the Black Beauty there.
I never knew people took apart their guitars after they bought them and tested them like the way collectors do. I just pick up a guitar and play it. If I like it, I like it. If I don’t, I put it back on the rack. I guess I’m old school.
Neat
Cool one.
I don’t buy guitars as collectors, most I have are collectors, but I obtain them to play. And I’m a firm believer that tone comes mostly from your hands. .....................✌️🤪🎸🎶🎵🎶
Combined my 2 favorite guitars, and the "trans Am" color scheme from "Smokey and the Bandit". I want it, haha
Yea, they should call it "the '77."
I realy dig this one trogly.. honestly if never held a tele but the older I get the more I Wana try one
I will stick with my original 73 Tele Deluxe with two Seth Lover Pups and NO pushing or pull pots for me thank you, oh and no on the Bigsby. It doesn’t sound too bad though, good job Fender and thanks for the demo.
This reminds me of a BC Rich Rich Bich I used to own. It had so many controls on it that there's no way you could try and use them in a gig. Just like this one. You would have to have a chart with you on stage to set it up between songs. But nice in the studio. This in one of those guitars a session musician would take with him. So no matter what the engineer wanted, you could deliver the tones with ease
Neither Fender nor BC Rich bothered to do the hard work: making versatile controls ergonomic, both physically and mentally.
Wow!
Gibson do a 55 black beauty with a strat layout an angled fender style single coil in the bridge and a mid and neck pu.. strat style with a 5 way switch and throw a vintage style strat trem in the mix and you got a winner for sure!
I would preffer the neck end more blocky, as a Les Paul, instead of rounded, but anyway, looks much better than in pics.
I absolutely love your videos and the work you put in. With that said, I wish you put some more time in to your playing. It really is difficult to understand the way these instruments sound with level you're currently at, especially some of these super high end guitars that, I think, need a bit finesse to bring out some of their sonic qualities. This is not meant to be an insult!
Loving the looks and tones. I'm just not a fan of bigsbys. Would be nice to see some other style tremolo or just a stop bar with maybe a cover from there to the strap button or a trapeze.
I think they should have used a 5 way LP style toggle switch (if it exists) or just 3 volume and 1 tone with no switch . But totally loved the distorted tones
I love this guitar, but the new price is higher than a second hand Custom Shop Tele. I'll wait for it to come onto the used market!
I've been on a tele lp hybrid kick for the last month or so this is sweet idk why they Intrigue me so much
dude that guitar is pretty neat! have you ever checked out a gibson g3 bass? i really love those things!
It's a nice looking guitar. It would look even better if there was binding on the back of the body. Just my opinion.
I was wondering why they didn't too !
Actually pearl binding would look cooler than the Gibbo custom binding. If I had a enough coins I definitely would buy that guitar. It looks and sounds great.
Hmmm,, interesting. That Bigsby looks like a can opener. Wonder if you can 86 that trem and install a trapeze style tail piece?
Dose look sharp.
I'm not a fan of black guitars, but that is one sexy Tele. I could do without all the confusing controls, though. I've never cared for the split humbucker sound, and never used it on any guitar I've owned that had that option. I'd probably rewire it for the traditional two-pickup configurations with the toggle switch, and use a push-pull pot to activate the middle pickup and call it a day.
Just think of all the tonal possibilities! "Let's do that funk number" - "Ok cool, I've got the perfect sound for that. Just give me 4 and half minutes." - "Take it to the bridge" - "Ok I will, but first I just need to go out to the car to get the pickup instructions"
I wish they'd offer a stripped down 'tribute' like version for like a grand. Great LP alternative
That fourth pot should also be push so that the middle splits
