Trogly, tried a G&G Jaguar Case for the Acoustasonic Tele and it fit really well. Believe that is what Fender uses for the Exotic Wood Version that comes with the G&G Hard Case. I love my high end acoustics and I know that this product isn't for me but if you're making money playing an a/e this to my ear is the best sounding piezo system and 2k isn't a deal breaker for a professional musician. It definitely blows my Taylors and Gibson out of the water plugged in and it also does some neat tricks.
People comparing them to actual acoustics are missing the point entirely. It's like looking at a review of a normal strat and going "why don't you just buy a Martin". They do different things, they're aimed at different people. Unless you enjoy putting electric guitar pickups with a blend circuit with the piezo and electric guitar necks onto your £3000 Martin, and then chopping off half the body to make it lighter, which if you do then you're dumb
@@duffman18 yeah, I get that. I think this is aimed at a very specific group of players. Glad to hear one of these strummed acoustically. 10:45 Wooden backplates have a high risk of warping because they're so thin. I think the aluminum is a nice upgrade from standard plastic. Godin makes something similar called the A6 Ultra (I've never played one) for about half the price
This is the best review of an Acoustasonic that I've seen. In all of the other reviews, the tones all sounded thin, and metallic (in a bad way). It may be that the Acoustasonic should be played through an electric (not acoustic) guitar amp. Maybe that's why the guitar sounded so good in your review. Too bad it doesn't fit into a standard Strat hard shell case. Very nice review. Thanks
I have both, first and 2.nd gen sonics and also somewhat higher range amps, also both electric and for acoustic and for me and for acoustic tone my acoustic amp sounds best if i only use piezo pickup. Its indeed bit pricey for what you get, most who has tried mine like the older 1.st gen better which is strange as mostly you only see negative reviews on those buggers... 😁
Acoustic/electrics are and were made to be played through a PA system not a guitar amplifier. Now yes they make acoustic amps and they work in a pinch but a PA system gives them the best sound you can get.
In response to many comments, also @3:48, the point of this appears to be for people who only have room in their life for ONE guitar - so a millennial in a small flat/ apartment/ house share, a professional in an urban condo, a retiree in assisted living, _etc._ And this is also explains the expense - it is for someone who wants both acoustic and electric tones, so is replacing the cost of buying two or more guitars.
Actually impressed with this guitar after the full review. Initial impressions from me were less than stellar, but hearing it changed my mind pretty quick! Still too expensive though.
A fantastic beginner friendly hybrid because it not only allows you to get both Acoustic & Electric sounds on low action, but it's way bigger in versatility.
I will be making a small rubber pick guard for mine. My strum tends to tap or scrape the body and this guitar really resonates that tapping far more than on my Taylor or Ovation Elite. Other than that it feels and sounds great and allows me to practice my acoustic songs while still being able to see the fret board, something I lost over time with the growth of my spare tire!
I was going to make this same comment if someone else hadn’t first! It’s not just that for me even, I just prefer the shape and everything to a strat shape. Which is a personal preference for me obviously. But just in general, I think a Tele acoustic just seems to be a perfect fit.
I actually kinda love this design, I hated it based on the release photos but it's grown on me. The versatility is super cool, the maintenance and repair potential is a little questionable but i think with a bit of reading up and studying of that PCB system and releasing the findings would do a ton! I love the sound quality and it plays incredibly well. This may be a potential one for me in the near future hehe
My hypothesis re: the patented soundhole: the low-pitched tones of an acoustic guitar are dominated by helmoltz resonance formed by the body cavity and the sound hole. The volume of compressible air in the body is a “spring” and the parcel of air moving in and out of the sound hole is a “mass.” By ducting the sound hole as they have, the mass of entrained air is increased, thus lowering the resonance frequency. This would give louder bass tones with the small cavity. What do you think?
I was waiting for this one.....I did buy the Telecaster, last year.....I did not think that I would buy this one.....Great job, Trogly...OMG, I am becoming a troglodyte!!!.............Thanks for being here every day, Trogly!....You make things better during these times......:)
Except....the Godin has a stupid design flaw...if a string snaps and the ball end falls into the body (which it often does) it shorts the electronics...happened to me several times mid-gig....
Jack White has a custom fender telecoustic(he uses on the help me stranger video) and 3 custom ordered bronze gibsons (1 firebird, a V custom and a les paul custom)
Gotta admit, it does sound pretty good, even through the Deluxe Reverb. I think maybe they designed it to be played through both electric tube amps and acoustic amps/ P.A. front of the house applications.
It's not as loud as a Standard Acoustic Guitar but is great for those who like the Acoustic Guitar sound but aren't comfortable with those large bodies they usually have, so good compromise & also good for beginners.
For its price it sucks. But if it was 600$ then it’s ok, I would have bought it just for looks. For real acoustic sounds I use acoustic. Greetings from Austria ✌️🇦🇹
When they eventually start making these in Mexico I’ll probably jump on it but yea for 2 grand you can get a Martin or a Taylor and never need another acoustic. Throw a Fishman Neo-D in there for an extra 50 bucks and you’re good to go if you need to amp it.
Hey guys, I love this guitar. 10 - 50 extra light acoustic strings gives you the perfect combo. OK, you lose a bit of acoustic depth , but gain some cool options that a Taylor or a Tele will never get you. Super light and easy to pick up at home and for a thinline acoustic sounds way better than the boring unplugged electric.. Came with great gig bag ....Bonus... Not entirely sure WHY you would expect it to come with a hard case? I get it Maybe you dont Try one!!!!
It's a one-of-a-kind sound but it's not a $2,000 sound. I actually had the expectation that it was something that could be played distorted but when he pointed out that it doesn't work like that, the price point really killed me. It looks like there are some really fancy features in it but it seems like a combination of fancy features that end up limiting the guitar too much. I feel like if $2,000 is in my price range for an acoustic guitar, I'd rather use that as an opportunity to get an amazing sounding traditional, all wood, thick, etc etc instrument .
It impressed me more than anticipated. I'm not sure I'd want one, but thanks to this video, I'm not sure I wouldn't, either. It occurs to me that another option for making this axe more legitimately acoustic and electric, you could swap out the first three strings for electric strings with an unwound G-string, though you would probably want to use the first three from a 10-gauge setup. You need to fill up that body with sound, so it's hard to say; it just might make the guitar better-suited for blues-type players who need bending to be a bit more plausible.
I got one from snap-on, high resolution works great, though a bit pricey but so is the fender. Point is if you are a pro then money is not the main thing when you make a purchase.
I have a Taylor with an LR Baggs Anthem in it and, unless I missed this, the Acoustasonic is appears to be missing something MAJOR. The Anthem allows you to adjust the blend the mic with the pickup to control feedback. You can get a Taylor and install an Anthem for less than the Acoustasonic. Trust me, I did it. Strats are my preferred electric, but own Taylor's with both the Anthem and Expression systems. Both out perform this from what I see here and I've spent less on those 2 Taylors than the Acoustasonic costs and I play lead. This is a luxury, not a necessity, IMHO. If Fender ever makes a MIM of MIJ, I'd consider buying 1, but there are a lot more things I'd put $2K into before I'd buy an Acoustasonic. Oh, and BOTH Taylors came with hardshell cases for less than $2K combined.
Something like this would be awesome, I think this is just he coolest guitar! I get really bad kinks in my neck from wearing a strap with most guitars. My current guitar weighs about 8 pounds and is still a bit much for me, also I live in a small apartment and don't always want to plug into an amp and headphones and a full acoustic would be way too loud imo. Plus that's my favorite fretboard i've seen, the way the lighter color splits the darker colors near the headstock is so cool! I just wish I were in a position to pay for something like this at this time. I hope they hold up well and I can pick a decent example in the future for a reasonable price :)
@@xxxboi07 nah, i don't think they will do a Squire version of that. It's just to high-end. But i can imagen a Made in Japan or even a Made in Mexico version.
They also made an Acoustasonic series before. It was a Strat or Tele where the electric body was carved out and a soundboard and acoustic bridge with tone and volume controls on the bridge. 18v preamp system, 3 active piezo undersaddle pickups and 3-way split saddle. It sounded thin unplugged and plugged in, but since it was an actual caster it played identical to the electric.
Honestly if they could could make one at about half the price I would pick one up. They seem like a great alternative to playing an acoustic live and to me at least it sounds better than most pickup systems on average electric acoustic guitars, plus the action is nicer.
I can't get past the Tele-acoustic and Strat-acoustic from a few years ago. I tried the new Tele version of the guitar, and to be honest, I do not believe the sound, either amplified or acoustic, is worth $1999. Acoustically speaking, it has the sound of a Backpacker guitar, and amplified there's nothing special either. Though I do have to admit the guitar you are reviewing does has a great looking fretboard and bridge, but that doesn't account for the $1999 price tag either, and I don't see this guitar commanding such a big price tag either. Oh well, to each their own.
Please start to review more Semi-hollowbody Electric guitars, Trogley! The legendary ES-335 would be a good place to start. 😉 Just so you know, you're the one, who inspired me to go out and buy a '74 Les Paul Signature, which I did last year.. I picked up a NM condition Goldtop for a player price. 😎
Mr. Crowley - China can make the full package you describe and sell it for maybe $400-500. That is scary and explains a lot of shit that is going on nowadays.
i just got mine today. Way fun! I'm trying to get the nuances of each position, find things that work best in a position. Pick? Hybrid? Finger pick? Using a Fishman Loudbox.
MoonBearBush not true. Guitars are pretty inexpensive instruments overall when compared to all instruments as a whole. The best tone woods for these are finite and a lot of care and expertise goes into making each one. Diminishing returns on sound and quality don’t really start until at least $2,000.
Same with the parallel universe type guitars they made, at least I think they’re called that. You’re better off with a dean or Jackson if your looking good quality for money. All fender does nowadays is just release strats with different colours for 3000
Best review yet. It was interesting to see the electronics. For any leftys, no lefty version yet. Hopefully if they make one they won't pick the most boring color option like they did with the tele version.
What's with the line in the body just below the bridge on the side? Looks like you got a big crack under that matte surface. Hard to see at some angles but very apparent at others. I also think That pcb will fail. Sounds great plugged in!
That's an N4 Middle pickup that was release on the Elite Stratocaster Series. Which makes sense because the Elite was last produced in 2019ish which is roughly when these were designed. Knowing Fender that may have updated that to the Ultra on newer versions since the N4 went out of production is 2019ish. -Bruce Gombrelli
its 20,000.00 and my 61 reissue blows it away. Monkey is over rated and taylored for someone missing their finger tips. It also has a Zero Fret. Look that up. THe pick ups are questionable. You have to like those kinds of pick ups. They come in both left and right handed models-that's nice. Other than that, save your money and go on a European vacation or have your yard landscaped or kitchen remodeled. Monkey SG is fun to look at in a Rock Stars and their Guitars context. Make your own buy leaving it in a hot car for 2 months in sweltering heat. Then order the sticker from Gibson. Then pound in a Zero Fret. Then gut the Humbuckers or Burst Buckers. Ioni's SG has P 90's I think that i believe that I feel. And also hella scratches like it was dropped on the freeway doing 60. Other than that you should run out a grab a few and forget about your kidz braces.
Andertons Music did a Fender tour video. All the employees working the new Acoustasonic section were new to Fender it was a separate section of the building. It's a cool looking guitar, but those finish blemishes are such a drag for a guitar that costs $2k. Looks comfortable to play.
I have a Carvin /Keisel AE-185. It has an acoustic bridge and baggs pick up with 2 splittable humbuckers in a solid top semi hollow tele type body with thru neck. Does acoustic surprisingly well and electric just like any electric guitar. Great axe!
had 2 of those over the years - loved them; MUCH better value than this Fender; wish I had 1 back but have used PRS Hollowbody/ Piezo for many years and love that one too
I’ve owned the tele version for a while now. It’s very well made. But a few things to know that might affect your decision to buy it. The electric sounds are almost unusable unless you’re doing something very creative. Acoustic sounds are stellar. Playing in a band, you’ll probably use the middle position and the spruce top sensor. But for solo gigs this thing shines. Don’t buy it to replace your nice acoustic guitar. Otherwise, it’s definitely a good practice guitar. Super comfortable. Sounds better than you’d expect unplugged.
I believe these were designed by Brian Swerdfeger. Before working at Fender he worked at Taylor and helped develop the T5 and T5z series. I own a T5z and love it - it's basically all I bring to open mics. However, the two guitars differ greatly in pickups - as the Taylor has dual stacked humbuckers (one hidden under the neck) and a body sensor. So far my T5z has held up very well despite taking it everywhere. I would expect the Fender to be durable as well. All of them are very expensive (I have the "classic" which is, IMHO, the best value as all is equal except basically the top and comes in under 2K). I don't dislike the Fenders but they do look a bit weird to me.
I would get one for its flexibility in recording and in live situations, quite frankly it sounds good enough since not everyone in the world are Luddite audiophiles like the internet comment section comes off as being.
Position 2 sounds pretty sweet honestly. The electric guitar amp creates an interesting effect with the blend of acoustic and electric guitar signals occuring simultaneously
I was really enjoying the songs you were playing during ths demo. You may have to switch from being a Gibson guy to a Fender Acoustasonic guy. You have come a long way with your demo playing, keep it up!
I was in love until I saw the PC board....ok...it's technology, I can be cool with that........but....wait.....now we recharge our guitars like a cell phone?? No thanks. Maybe I'm too old school, but I'm not a fan of looking for yet another cable to make my guitar work. Maybe the kids will dig it. As always, great review Austin! Regardless of my opinion of the product, your reviews are more in depth and informative than any I have seen, keep up the good work!
I had a very negative reaction to this guitar during this review. Then I went and watched Paul David's review on his channel. Anyone who thought it sucked, don't sell it short until you watch his review. Apparently setup and sound gear and experience is everything (as if you didn't already know that) No offense Trogly.
Thanks for doing a review on this. It answered a couple of questions I have had. If you get a chance to review the old Stratacoustic I think you may be pleased by it. If I still had my 2001 model I would send it to you for a comparison. When I received it and unboxed it, it felt like a toy and I thought I would have enjoyed just setting fire to $300 instead. That changed once I began playing. Unplugged, it had sort of a banjo-like tone that was nice once you got used to it. Plugged in it sounded every inch like a Strat. Back then they were using the Fishman 4. Clean or dirty, I never had a problem with feedback. After 44 years of playing, selling and trading it's one of three guitars that caused me seller's remorse. I heard the quality went downhill in later years, but that first year of production they were the cat's original pajamas.

Really enjoyed your playing. This Vid made me get one (with same finish). Thanks...
I like the accoustasonic guitars, but they are just too expensive. If they had a cheaper made in mexico version I might actually buy one.
Same. Soooo many other guitars that I would pick over one of these in this price range
I even wish they could make it so cheap to produce that Squier would sell these. That would be awesome!
@@circusbrains the fancy gigbag 😂
You should try the Godin A6! They're about half the price.
I’ve only played one. At a guitar store. I was scared playing it. I was also intimidated.
Loved playing it though.
The black top is off putting. I liked the tele with the fancy wood.
I agree completely !
I was going to make this same comment if someone else hadn’t first!
It’s not just that for me even, I just prefer the shape and everything to a strat shape. Which is a personal preference for me obviously.
But just in general, I think a Tele acoustic just seems to be a perfect fit.
Agree. For 2K you would think the top would be figured tops like flamed maple or birds eye etc.
Imagine losing your pick inside of that hell hole
Now that's a horror story lol.
Use as maracas or something like that
@@najmihakimkhairi1210 now that is a great idea
You'd have to unscrew the backplate to get it back
no problem flip the guitar on its face and shake. C'mon, man........
I love my Stratacoustic!! Matter of fact, I have two! A Black and a Sunburst!
Sounded good to me.
Amanda Smith The guitar or my explanation? LOL
@@DavidMFChapman Yor explanation, but I like the guitar too. A little pricey though
My thoughts exactly but you left out factoring in Humidity, Barometric Pressure and Time of day Ahahahahahah!
man! your playing skills are getting waay better - thumbs up!!!
Yess the acoustasonic review. Thank you trogly! And have a nice day!!
Wow. this guy really likes hearing himself talk. So much elaborating!
Same, annoying as fuck
This guitar has some really impressive tones, I was worried it wouldn't have the bass resonance plugged in but it does, cool.
I’m still not convinced that this isn’t just a big joke that EVERYONE but me is in on. Ok guys, ha ha, very funny. The joke has run its course.
Looks very strange
I was waiting for this one.....I did buy the Telecaster, last year.....I did not think that I would buy this one.....Great job, Trogly...OMG, I am becoming a troglodyte!!!.............Thanks for being here every day, Trogly!....You make things better during these times......:)
Greg Reynolds I was curious how much the tele set you back if you don’t mind me askin
Trogly's best demo so far...
Buy a Godin A6 for less then half and sounds better.
Agreed , or Taylor T5
Except....the Godin has a stupid design flaw...if a string snaps and the ball end falls into the body (which it often does) it shorts the electronics...happened to me several times mid-gig....
For that much you can take your pick of used Herringbone d28's !!
@@peterlawson777 any simple diy fixes for that?
@@savvasmichael I have the T5z and love it.
I really appreciate you playing unplugged. I was really frustrated when no one would play it that way. Thanks again!!
Jack White has a custom fender telecoustic(he uses on the help me stranger video) and 3 custom ordered bronze gibsons (1 firebird, a V custom and a les paul custom)
Jack white loves crap and novelty guitars. That's pretty much his trademark.
Thank you. Finally someone who talks about the charging.
The problem is: it's made in the Custom Shop.
Grüß aus Arizona!
i agree this would actually of sold better as a squier because for that price we would all just buy two guitars for each job
Joe Bryant
Godin is Canadian and the A6 Ultra is much the same thing for $800. Well it has a ‘bucker for the electric pickup.
Hey guys, I love this guitar. 10 - 50 extra light acoustic strings gives you the perfect combo.
OK, you lose a bit of acoustic depth , but gain some cool options that a Taylor or a Tele will never get you.
Super light and easy to pick up at home and for a thinline acoustic sounds way better than
the boring unplugged electric..
Came with great gig bag ....Bonus... Not entirely sure WHY you would expect it to come with a hard case?
I get it
Maybe you dont
Try one!!!!
I really don't like that guitar but love Troglodyte
Yet another great Trogly review ! It's Fender time!
Imagine Fender would sell them for $700... it would be a banger
Johnny Boy - I bet Chinese can make and sell you one for about $400; scary
Love the way you demonstrate the 3B position!
Use the other end of your calipers for the depth of something, Trogly.
I loved the percussion test hahaha
Get one of those snake cameras with light to sneak inside guitars to see the insides!
Wait a year and they'll release a Squier version, they always do 🤷🏻♂️
@@xxxboi07 nah, i don't think they will do a Squire version of that. It's just to high-end. But i can imagen a Made in Japan or even a Made in Mexico version.
Get a Taylor Big Baby or GS Mini for a quieter acoustic and it will sound a million times better than this unplugged!
Josh Battershell Maby a Squire model! 😂
The smudge at the 9th fret looks odd. Maybe a repair? Awesome review!! You should get one of those lighted scopes for looking in tight spaces.
Terrific review. And I'm in love with that fingerboard.
Please start to review more Semi-hollowbody Electric guitars, Trogley! The legendary ES-335 would be a good place to start. 😉
Just so you know, you're the one, who inspired me to go out and buy a '74 Les Paul Signature, which I did last year.. I picked up a NM condition Goldtop for a player price. 😎
Wow, this is the most detailed video about this guitar so far.
For $2k they should include a deluxe reverb amp and a hard case.
And a house
Mr. Crowley - China can make the full package you describe and sell it for maybe $400-500. That is scary and explains a lot of shit that is going on nowadays.
and a ford f150 too!
i just got mine today. Way fun! I'm trying to get the nuances of each position, find things that work best in a position. Pick? Hybrid? Finger pick? Using a Fishman Loudbox.
to me, all sounds good ,But the price .
David Bernadat I’m hoping for a squier version or at least a Mexican one
Sadly, guitars as a whole are extremely overpriced.
Just get yourself a used squire and take a router to it.
MoonBearBush not true. Guitars are pretty inexpensive instruments overall when compared to all instruments as a whole. The best tone woods for these are finite and a lot of care and expertise goes into making each one. Diminishing returns on sound and quality don’t really start until at least $2,000.
Fantastic review. You’ve covered many things others haven’t.
$2000.00 for that things is utterly outrageous. Is Fender trying to be Gibson??
Same with the parallel universe type guitars they made, at least I think they’re called that. You’re better off with a dean or Jackson if your looking good quality for money. All fender does nowadays is just release strats with different colours for 3000
No fender trying to be aplle
ooof
Best review yet. It was interesting to see the electronics.
For any leftys, no lefty version yet. Hopefully if they make one they won't pick the most boring color option like they did with the tele version.
What's with the line in the body just below the bridge on the side? Looks like you got a big crack under that matte surface. Hard to see at some angles but very apparent at others. I also think That pcb will fail. Sounds great plugged in!
If the PCB doesn't fail the battery will.
I really appreciate how you demo holobody guitars unplugged :)
Quite new to your channel and loving it :)
I'm waiting for the Jazzmaster or the Jag version.
Hey! When will we get the Monkey SG review?
You mean the toni iommi one? He ready did it, or at least some video. Unless there's another monkey sg I'm missing
Yes, the opening, but yet to see the review? Please point me in the right direction, you've obviously seen it, thanks...
its 20,000.00 and my 61 reissue blows it away.
Hell yeah I’m early!
I have a Carvin /Keisel AE-185. It has an acoustic bridge and baggs pick up with 2 splittable humbuckers in a solid top semi hollow tele type body with thru neck. Does acoustic surprisingly well and electric just like any electric guitar. Great axe!
had 2 of those over the years - loved them; MUCH better value than this Fender; wish I had 1 back but have used PRS Hollowbody/ Piezo for many years and love that one too
I bought a Tele version earlier this month. Love it, haven't put it down!
Imagine all those 90's MTV unplugged with this baby :D
to make them worse?
No way. Kurt Cobain would have never played that, jerry Cantrell, eric clapton, neil young, no way.
True that
Haha, so true👍🏼
my goodness it sounds really bloody good on some settings. kudos to you, you're doing really good!
Interesting concept
Position 2 sounds pretty sweet honestly. The electric guitar amp creates an interesting effect with the blend of acoustic and electric guitar signals occuring simultaneously
They should have a 12 String Version someday.
I was really enjoying the songs you were playing during ths demo. You may have to switch from being a Gibson guy to a Fender Acoustasonic guy. You have come a long way with your demo playing, keep it up!
THIS JUST IN: Where you strum matters! Haha.
Regardless of my opinion of the product, your reviews are more in depth and informative than any I have seen, keep up the good work!
fender: releases a strat that kinda sounds like an acoustic
every other hollow/semi-hollow electric guitar: 👁️👄👁️
Sounds better than the Tele version . Thanks for the Demo !
The big question here is of course: "Does it djent?"
with those thick gauge strings, yes it does. and also i feel like you watch stevie t
God that is so funny and new and creative and funnt and smart and original wow im actually shitting myseld of laughter haha
Somebody HAD to ask it...
Since the saddle was pulled out, set up to lower the saddle height and the nut height as well.
