Great vid. Thanks! I decided that with my Martin dread on stage next to me the American version had nothing to offer that the real deal it was trying to emulate didn't offer as a better option so went with the Olive Tele Player series. It is a GREAT guitar for use with the looper though. Such versatility.

Awesome. I have one. Loved the American one when I saw it at the NAMM show, and my buddy has all three versions...but when I saw the Mexican variety, with it's 9v battery, 3 way switch and blend knob...it made my decision easy. I am a gigging musician. Three areas to start with are more than adequate for when I need to ride the acoustic side.

What people don't seem to talk about or get is that a regular acoustic played live just sounds like the piezo... but the Acoustasonic includes infinite variations on specific voices through the blend knob. It is a live player's guitar which sounds better than anything a piezo puts out. If you want to record, use the acoustic with a mike... otherwise the lightweight Acoustasonic is the performer's option, including a pseudo-electric, or the rich person's funky couch guitar... I don't have one because the my Guild Troubadour with the passive D'Armond does the job... except the Acoustasonic doesn't feedback, so you get my point... it is the perfect hybrid for the live player. Use other guitars for other specific jobs...

This guitar grew on me. Hated the looks at first .....so odd looking to me. However because of the great sound(s) , versatility as a working tool, the looks of the guitar is looking better & better to me. I would buy this guitar (mexican) as I like the battery access on the back. Thank you for the video ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

I just bought one of these in black. I'm bummed out because it arrived damaged. The box was in good condition... not crushed at all. Something inside the guitar is loose. When you shake it, you can hear something inside flopping about, and the pickup moves with this... so whatever the pickup is mounted to on the inside, was not glued sufficiently, and now I am in this predicament. I bought the guitar from one of the big box stores... but the damage obviously occurred during shipment. Makes me wonder about the build quality though. I am primarily an electric player, but am planning on re-recording a song I wrote years ago as a video project. This seemed like it might be a good fit, because 1) I don't have a good place to mic up a traditional acoustic at this time, and 2) I thought that this guitar might be easier to play for an electric player like myself. The action on the guitar that I received was not impressive. The store is preparing a new guitar for me, and this time I prepaid the "setup" to improve playability. I hope I am not wasting my money. Not terribly impressed so far.

Good video. The Mahogany body acoustic on the American version is noticeably better to me. Also...I don't think you worked in the body sensor on the American. That's the money position; it adds a great deal of acoustic vibe.
To my ears, the electric sounds are identical. If I was a primarily electric player that just wanted a bit of acoustic now and then, I would go for the Player Series. If I wanted more acoustic with a bit of electric now and then, I'd go with the American.

As someone with a killer acoustic already and likes to play open mics my biggest gripe has always been having to mic my acoustic. Nice to have a plug and play acoustic that also has electric tones to really be able to dig into the bag when playing open mics this thing is indispensable. Loved it since the American version launched and now having an affordable option available the purchase is just a no brainer now.

I work in a guitar shop. Both bodies are mahogany. Both are done on CNC machines. I can't tell the difference. The American version has an ebony fretboard to the MIM rosewood. That's a personal choice. I actually like the simplicity of the MIM version better regarding the electronics......and a BIG thing...,, you can just swap out the MIM 9v battery if it dis. The American is charged.....so if you forget to charge......that's a problem.

@@jeffkercheval4010I’m talking about the mahogany bodied acoustic MODEL on both guitars. The American sounds noticeably better to me. Subjective for sure but they definitely sound different. I like the rechargeable battery on the American but agree the 9V on the Player is a better option for a lot of people.

When played Acoustically you get a sound that's very akin to a Martin Backpacker Guitar but more refined due to the bigger body.

Hmmm, I have just pulled the trigger on a Mexican one. I am hoping it will be ok. I am a regular gigging Acoustic guitar/singer. My main Guitar is a Crafter bowlback(the one with the woven wood bowl), it has a great sound, but i am always looking for that something extra. I recently got hold of a Vox Giulietta which is not bad but for all it's box of tricks it just did not sound all that great, a kind of metaled twang that just made everything sound fake, however with all that box of tricks turned off, it sounded better. Anyways i am looking forward to trying it out, and hoping for good results. I love my Crafter, but it's nice to have something extra. :)

what strings did you have on both guitars and -- if acoustic strings - did you find playing it "in electric mode" just didn't feel comfortable (fretting and pulling off strings, bending etc.) ? I am wondering if *electric* strings on these sound fine or bad in acoustic mode, but make it more playable like an electric guitar. not sure i am articulating this well.. thanks.

Hey Dave, so the Acoustasonic guitars work well with both electric and Acoustic strings!! The acoustic and electric modes work fine with each. You may notice a slight difference in tone, but nothing drastic :)

    • @hannosolo

With great difficulty. One mix output. Have you tried a PRS hollowbody ii piezo? Two outputs, mix or dedicated acoustic and mag. I have the US acoustasonic strat. Never gets used. I use the PRS because it sounds much better, the playability and quality are great. Everyone to their own but worth a try if you haven’t and are after split outputs.

Me too, that usb charge socket is like so many bluetooth speakers that have failed me along the way at the charge point. They're so fragile. Also, if you want rechargeable battery you can get one of them too. I prefer to just have a spare and chuck the old one in the bin.

For me, I really like the Mexican model. I prefer the sound over the American. It sounds a bit brighter, cleaner and a bit more clear. It's not so fat or muddy like the American, which is something I don't really like with acoustic guitars in general. I also think that it's just versatile enough for me, it has plenty of voicing options. I couldn't justify the extra $600-$800 dollars just for some extra voicing options, especially when I prefer the sound of the Mexican model over the American.
Also as stated in one of the other comments, chargers can fail and honestly, if the battery dies while I'm playing I don't want to wait for it to charge to continue. I'd rather switch it out real quick and get back to it.

Pardon the noob question, but would an acoustasonic not have feedbacking problems in a small or big venue like what usually happens with a normal acoustic/electric guitar?

    • @GuitarVillageFarnham
      @GuitarVillageFarnham  Год назад

There are no noob questions here!!!! The Acoustasonics are far less susceptible to feedback compared to your standard acoustic, this is down to the far smaller body size. Hope that helps!

It's not for an electric player in my opinion having played the American one. As soon as you have bronze strings on it, don't kid anyone it will feel like playing an electric. In my experience piezo under-saddle pickups sound notably poorer with electric strings on due probably to lack of pressure. My band mate who owns one no longer brings it to any gigs!

Really disappointed with the Player it’s just a toy the battery consumption will not slow you to do a 2 hour gig it’s been back at the manufacturer longer than I had it being repaired. So my advice is buy a real guitar coz this is just a gimmicky toy and not for professional use
