@@octololz2953 Oh yeah, I got it figured out. Just switching SD cards meant I had to redownload everything, but at least I try not to buy digital unless I have to, so or wasn't too bad!
@@theostrugaming It was nerve-wracking for sure! I was worried I'd lose important data if I messed something up, and every video I watched would only talk about doing it with a PC. Luckily I did find that you can just switch the cards freely but you'll likely have to reformat it to your Switch, and then redownload your games. It's not too bad if you play mostly physical, but I wouldn't suggest that way if you're digital only or just have a ton of digital games.
Just an fyi if you play Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you want to transfer your island over you will have to get the Island Transfer tool on both consoles. Once you do that, just follow the on screen instructions. If you don't do this you will loose your island. Unless you are completely OK with starting over from scratch.
So I got a new switch for Christmas right? I’m still keeping my old one and I’ve been trying to transfer over my Pokémon BD data to my new switch but it just says it couldn’t connect
I have trauma from when I got a new 3ds (downgraded to 2ds)… sold my 3ds first to get it thinking I could just swap the sd card and keep all my data… had all the Pokémon I had collected for the past 6 years including shiny’s and event exclusives on my only non-physical Pokémon game and lost them all (it still hurts) never had the same drive to really get into Pokémon games since
So what happens when this doesn’t work? I followed this and selected that I wasn’t going to be using my old one so it seemingly deleted everything from the old device, but when I open my games after redownloading them or inserting a game card, there’s no save data. I have hundreds of hours in these games, and it’s now seemingly gone from both devices…
🌟Thank you so much! This is a very helpful video! I'm about to get my new OLED (White) Switch this coming weekend and I really need this tutorial so I can successfully transfer my Nintendo account, data, and games accordingly. 🎮
How do you do this with the same account because I just got a switch but my progress is on my switch lite and I can't figure out how to get the data on my new switch
You didn't mention something really important. The user you want to move needs an Nintendo Account. Or can you transfer user data without Nintendo Account?
Well explained, however my old switch seems to have troubles finding my new OLED. The OLED finds my old switch as source console, but the old one doesn't find the OLED as target console. I tried a lot now and I was able to get my user COPIED on the new device but I can't for the life of me get my save data. If anyone had the same problem and found a solution, pls let me know.
I was able to fix it, but I don't know what I did different. The only thing i changed was the distance to my router. It still took like 3 minutes for the old switch to find the new one though.
@@Emriss1273 Oh, I was able to fix mine also. I had to set my phone as a mobile hotspot for the 2.4 ghz bandwidth. Once done it all worked super fast.

Hey, thanks very much for the video. I got an OLED model now , and I found the error that the switch comes up with when you click “yes” to using both systems for some reason, while trying to maintain the same account on both devices. What is the solution for this? Do I have to transfer the data to the new Switch (while erasing it from the older one), and then log-in again, so that the new Switch is primary, and the old Switch is "non-primarily" linked to the same account? Please let me know, thanks.
I have 2 accounts on one Switch. I want to move only one account to a new Switch. When it asks "Will you keep using the previous console in addition to this one?" and I click "No", will my other account that is not migrating be safe on the source?
Wait will all of my data in my games be transferred?? I bought some passes form the game called super smash, I’m afraid if I download it on the new Nintendo, it wouldn’t be transferred..
So did all the steps up until the point where the source console is searching for the target console. The target console immediately found the source, but the source is just not finding the target.
Thanks ur the best cuz i want to buy a new switch but i don’t remember the password so i was searching till i found this video now i can transform my all data
Question if the original switch like the console was banned from something will the banned carry on when transfer to the new switch (I wanna know cause my original switch was banned for hacking note I never hacked the console the banned just happened)
1:49 could someone explain this part to me? I wanna make my new console my primary one but I still wanna use my old one for things like Animal Crossing (I wanna have an island on each console so I can transfer things back and forth) would I click Yes to do just that?
I don’t game a lot, but from my understanding (and for clarification) I can buy a new switch and bring all of the data to the new one? I have spent many hours on two games and want to make sure I’m not losing all of that and having to restart everything.
I have a Switch that came with Mario Kart 8 bundled on it. Will that data transfer since I'll probably have to buy a copy for the OLED if I upgrade? TIA
You don’t need your old model I sold mine a year ago, got an Oled today and just put in my old email in, hit forgot password went to my email input birthday to verify identity input new password and boom got my old account back didn’t need to repurchase any games. However I don’t think it keeps safe data and my oled wasn’t compatible with my old switches memory card. But as long as I don’t have to buy the same games again I don’t care
But I tried to put my SD card in my new switch and it says something about deleting everything off of it since it’s being used with another switch I don’t wanna delete everything! So what do I do?
Be aware this could possibly loose all your pkmn data. Apparently you have a profile on both and individually transfer the save data. Supposedly if you user transfer you loose all the pkmn save data.
Right after transferring my data, my game hours in play activity hasn't been updating. I played them in the og switch and they're stuck on the same hours before I transferred them to the new switch..
I just get a eternal screen saying preparing the source console to send the save data been trying for 6 days I’ve updated everything the dock joy cons system updates and still nothing I’m about to go get a refund for the piece of junk
It’s stupid though that you can’t just transfer it over when you put the account on the switch I lost my og switch and got an oled so I guess my data is gone for good idk why it can’t just be like my ps4 or series s where all data transfers over with the account

I had already create an user and link it with my account on my new OLED. Because i did not know better. Now i cant tranfer my user data from old to new. My question is, can i delete the user (has no data on switch) with the account from the OLED and try the user data transfer again?
Didn’t work for me but that’s good enough. I tried to do it through users but it just tells me “this account is already being used on another console” 😍👍🏽.
If I transfer BOTW to a new Switch, will my DLC progress be able to be redownloaded in the eShop? I know the DLC can come back, but I mean my finished DLC. Or do I have to restart that?

You don't have to dock the Switches, just plug the USB power cable directly into the console. That way you can use the Switch screens, and not the TV.
