@@Mrtaco-bs1lg As someone who has already played in handheld mode about 95% of the time anyway since I've had my OG model...now that I've had my OLED for a month I can absolutely say that it is 100% worth the upgrade! But I would mainly recommend it to someone that primarily plays handheld such as myself. The slightly bigger screen and the significantly improved battery life alone tho make it worth it, but man, the OLED screen is just gorgeous. Colors are very vivid and vibrant, and the screen is VERY bright...to the point where I'm at 50-75% peak brightness most of the time (indoors) to keep it easy on the eyes if playing a very colorful game (Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, Warioware, etc.)

I had this same issue, but I signed into my account again on the old Switch, and it still let me transfer my island across OK. Hopefully you have sorted it too!

TYSM I have been looking for a guide on how to transfer acnh data and any other game too I’m so happy that someone made a video like this I’m just relieved that you don’t need the residents account on both switch’s for the transfer for my island I already knew how to transfer save data besides animal crossing but knowing how to do both without stressing on how to is great! You made me so much less stressed! Just another question does this also transfer Pokémon and Splatoon when you do the the transfer user? I’m only asking since NSO back ups aren’t supported on those games.

what do you do if you have multiple profiles on the switch, where each profile has it's own house and storage? Edited with the answer: I used the tool from the video. here is how it worked for multiple profiles. 1. I recreated all my profiles on the new switch. (you can add the extra profiles at any time but was easier to do them before the transfer) 2. I downloaded the game (or use a cartridge) 3. I used the tool as per the directions in the video 4. I opened the game with my main character first 5. There were prompts to use that game and i linked my profile with that character 6. I let the game start and then saved. 7. I exited. With the download version, I could not open the other characters, so i had to put in the cartridge (i have my second switch) and then opened each profile and connected it with their character in game. 8. the biggest change is - if you bought the download version, you may not be able to use your secondary characters. You need to have a cartridge
i have 2 users on my account and have put off moving data for this very reason ( i have AC digitally). should just be a matter of doing the island transfer with both users no?

Then download and use the tool. if one of the old accounts is not an actual online account, you'll need to recreate it on the other switch or move it after you move your island (if it's an account another person uses on your switch). I have extra accounts that are just for animal crossing storage. i didn't have to worry about moving saved games for other games, so i just created new ones.

This is my question as well! I ONLY have the physical version ( Cartridge ) of the game, I really don’t wanna buy the game again! 😅 I just want it on my New switch ( going from a Lite to a switch ) I don’t need it on the lite!
@@nickcaraballo2672 I actually managed to figure it out and this is how it worked for me: you download the island transfer tool on both consols and than, before transfering, you move the cartridge to your new console. Since the tool doesn't use the game, only the save, it won't need the physical game in the old switch. Hope it works for you as well, if you try it :)

Does anyone have an answer for the "communication error" that keeps happening? I see it in two places, when transferring the User (the switches don't find each other) and in the Island Transfer Tool, I get a communication error when I hit proceed. Oddly, the Target Switch "sees" the island name, so I believe there's connectivity, but then it fails. Someone mentioned that it could be the 5 gps Internet we have might be interfering with the Bluetooth on the consoles. They tried it on a 2.7 gps and it worked. Not sure if anyone has another answer for this issue.
I have this issue as well. I haven't tried the 2.7gps thing (I don't know what it means) did you figure it out? Another thing I've heard that I haven't gotten to try is to connect one to a mobile Hotspot

I noticed that you didn’t have Animal Crossing itself on your new Switch before transferring. Would I need to do that first or does this cover all of that? I bought Animal Crossing digitally on my 2017 Switch and recently got an OLED. I’ve already got my profile and save data for other games transferred.
No, I believe it transfers everything from the old console, to the new one. So, you’ll have your current save file on your old one, but will be able to make a new save. You won’t have two at the same state. Unless, it’s from a restore. Restoring an island and transferring an island are two different things by the way.
Any chance you know why I can't have the island transfer tool open on my source switch and my target switch at the same time? It seems like I have to create an entirely new nintendo account just to use it on my target switch at the same time.. creating a second user is not enough because then it says I need to download the transfer tool, which I can't do unless I have it linked to a Nintendo account, which apparently can't be the same Nintendo account I've just transferred
In your example, you successfully transferred Sandra, but you had to leave behind an account to download the Transfer Tool, the JOG account. I'm guessing JOG isn't just a locally created dummy account. It has to be a real "linked" Nintendo account?

Hi! I hope someone can help me with this question. I have two Switches and my sister was playing on the main one and I was playing on the Lite. I want to transfer my data over to the main Switch from my Lite, and she doesn’t really care about her save data from her switch. When I transfer island data, will it automatically write over hers? If this question doesn’t make any sense I can explain further haha.
My only question is this. I selected that I may use the old console still so both have my profile on now. I noticed you did not do this in the video in fact you did the opposite. Will this mean I can't transfer over now? I only did this because I was told I had to in order to be able to transfer over my Pokemon save files from the old switch to the OLED model. Now I am confused lol 😆
Good Question, if you are going to use your old console too then yes select that. i don't why it wouldn't let you transfer it over. I only chose the opposite because i wasn't going to use the old console anymore. Hopefully that clears it up a bit
I know it's been a long time, but I had this same issue! I chose to keep the user profile on the original switch, and encountered a communication error right as I began transferring. I resolved the problem simply by using different Wifi for both switch's. I used my phone's hotspot for the source switch and my communication issue was resolved. I did not need to delete the user from the source switch nor create a new user profile linked with a different nintendo account on either. I was able to transfer even while logged in with the same nintendo account on both devises. I hope this helps!

Do you have to have both consoles to do this? I’m staying with my mom for the summer and my switch/island is back home in a different state. I was wondering if I could have my dad go through this process with me on my original switch while I do it on my mom’s switch to transfer the data, or do the two switches transferring have to be locally together?
I created a new island on my new switch before this update was available and technically have to islands. If I transfer my old island to my new switch will I be able to access both islands whenever? Or will it over write the current (new) island. I’ve put so much work into both islands and I don’t want to loose one to gain another ;-;
Is there a work around for not having the original switch? I planned to trade mine into GameStop to help cover the cost of the new one. Of course if I did it this way I wouldn’t be able to have them next to each other
Backup your current game to the cloud, (you need a Nintendo Online subscription for this!) then sell your console. Once you’ve done that, contact Nintendo, say you have a new Switch, and they will help you to restore your ACNH save file. Also, you’ll need the serial numbers from both of the consoles. So write down your old console’s serial number before you sell it! I don’t know if you need a serial number that much from your old console, but I’ve read and heard that you do. Though, don’t see how that would work if someone lost or had a Switch break on them. As restoring an ACNH save file is only really for when a Switch is broken and has been replaced, or stolen… Anyhow, just say you have a new Switch, if they ask what happened to the old one, you can say it broke or be honest. Some reps might do it for you even if your old one is still working, some may not.

I’m pretty sure you have to purchase animal crossing again nvm I just googled it- you don’t have to purchase it again but you’ll need to redownload the games so that the save data will transfer over

Here I am for the third time, this time for the Tears of the Kingdom OLED. Hopefully it goes as smoothly as the previous times...
Does anyone have an answer for the "communication error" that keeps happening? I see it in two places, when transferring the User (the switches don't find each other) and in the Island Transfer Tool, I get a communication error when I hit proceed. Oddly, the Target Switch "sees" the island name, so I believe there's connectivity, but then it fails. Someone mentioned that it could be the 5 gps Internet we have might be interfering with the Bluetooth on the consoles. They tried it on a 2.7 gps and it worked. Not sure if anyone has another answer for this issue.
I have this issue as well. I haven't tried the 2.7gps thing (I don't know what it means) did you figure it out? Another thing I've heard that I haven't gotten to try is to connect one to a mobile Hotspot
@@calebstevens9243 we finally got it by connecting the Wi-Fi on the Switch to one of iPhones. Took a few attempts. Couldn’t believe it when it worked!

I don’t understand how to transfer if you’ve already moved your account to the new switch. It doesn’t allow the other accounts to play the island transfer tool. Do I have to put my main account back on the old switch?

i still don't understand. im sobbing tbh bc it's making me so frustrated. i already transferred my save data, or user data. i am using the same nintendo Link account for BOTH switches. it will nOT let me open the island transfer tool on both consoles. i don't understand. someone please help me
i have 1 question, i want to buy another switch, do i need animal crossing instaled in both consoles or only source console? because i only have 1 copy of the game, cartridge not digital. waiting reply, thank you

Thank you for the video! Just one question, does the account you use to transfer the island from source to target need a saved game of animal crossing on the island you’re transferring? I’m transferring my wife’s island to her own console so will transfer her profile then use my account to transfer to island as her account will no longer be on my switch. I have never played animal crossing on my profile so was wondering if that would be a problem?

I noticed that you didn’t have Animal Crossing itself on your new Switch before transferring. Would I need to do that first or does this cover all of that? I bought Animal Crossing digitally on my 2017 Switch and recently got an OLED. I’ve already got my profile and save data for other games transferred.
Can you still play ACNH on the old switch or did all of the island data get transferred to the new switch?

No, I believe it transfers everything from the old console, to the new one. So, you’ll have your current save file on your old one, but will be able to make a new save. You won’t have two at the same state. Unless, it’s from a restore.
Restoring an island and transferring an island are two different things by the way.

Any chance you know why I can't have the island transfer tool open on my source switch and my target switch at the same time? It seems like I have to create an entirely new nintendo account just to use it on my target switch at the same time.. creating a second user is not enough because then it says I need to download the transfer tool, which I can't do unless I have it linked to a Nintendo account, which apparently can't be the same Nintendo account I've just transferred

In your example, you successfully transferred Sandra, but you had to leave behind an account to download the Transfer Tool, the JOG account. I'm guessing JOG isn't just a locally created dummy account. It has to be a real "linked" Nintendo account?
How did you get the island transfer in your old switch, that part was skipped. I did everything you said but I it won’t let me go into the E-Shop now on the old one because my account is in the new one. Help! I’m stuck and my do. Is devastated

Hi! I hope someone can help me with this question. I have two Switches and my sister was playing on the main one and I was playing on the Lite. I want to transfer my data over to the main Switch from my Lite, and she doesn’t really care about her save data from her switch. When I transfer island data, will it automatically write over hers? If this question doesn’t make any sense I can explain further haha.

My only question is this. I selected that I may use the old console still so both have my profile on now. I noticed you did not do this in the video in fact you did the opposite. Will this mean I can't transfer over now? I only did this because I was told I had to in order to be able to transfer over my Pokemon save files from the old switch to the OLED model. Now I am confused lol 😆
Good Question, if you are going to use your old console too then yes select that. i don't why it wouldn't let you transfer it over. I only chose the opposite because i wasn't going to use the old console anymore. Hopefully that clears it up a bit
I know it's been a long time, but I had this same issue! I chose to keep the user profile on the original switch, and encountered a communication error right as I began transferring. I resolved the problem simply by using different Wifi for both switch's. I used my phone's hotspot for the source switch and my communication issue was resolved. I did not need to delete the user from the source switch nor create a new user profile linked with a different nintendo account on either. I was able to transfer even while logged in with the same nintendo account on both devises. I hope this helps!
I did the first step with transferring data but had deleted the app from my original switch and don’t have access to my island. Am I still able to get my island back? I’ve spent soooo many hours on it and will be heartbroken if that’s the case 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

So I have multiple users on one switch, when I transfer it to a new switch will it transfer all of my data from the other users too or will I have to do this seperately for each user

I created a new island on my new switch before this update was available and technically have to islands. If I transfer my old island to my new switch will I be able to access both islands whenever? Or will it over write the current (new) island. I’ve put so much work into both islands and I don’t want to loose one to gain another ;-;
Is there a work around for not having the original switch? I planned to trade mine into GameStop to help cover the cost of the new one. Of course if I did it this way I wouldn’t be able to have them next to each other
Backup your current game to the cloud, (you need a Nintendo Online subscription for this!) then sell your console. Once you’ve done that, contact Nintendo, say you have a new Switch, and they will help you to restore your ACNH save file. Also, you’ll need the serial numbers from both of the consoles. So write down your old console’s serial number before you sell it!
I don’t know if you need a serial number that much from your old console, but I’ve read and heard that you do. Though, don’t see how that would work if someone lost or had a Switch break on them. As restoring an ACNH save file is only really for when a Switch is broken and has been replaced, or stolen…
Anyhow, just say you have a new Switch, if they ask what happened to the old one, you can say it broke or be honest. Some reps might do it for you even if your old one is still working, some may not.

I’m pretty sure you have to purchase animal crossing again nvm I just googled it- you don’t have to purchase it again but you’ll need to redownload the games so that the save data will transfer over
