He wrote this song for the guy who sold him his first guitar and passed away. The way you connected with it with your own journey is what makes their music great, though !
There’s a reason they’ve had the same 4 members for almost 20 years and released 6 studio albums and are still going strong. Legit not a single bad song in their catalog. I just seen Myles a couple weeks ago and he was absolutely incredible! And I’ll be seeing Tremonti on Sept 4th! I can’t wait! You should really checkout Wonderful Life, the studio version. It’s absolutely beautiful and a definitely a tear jerker! Their song Lover is about abuse, and Slip to the Void can be related to addiction, and how you slip into that dark place and cut everyone off.
I love how Myles, Tremonti, AB, and Slash are all so unique. AB is by far the best combo though.
I love alter bridge, but when they were in Sweden I enjoyed shinedown more. There was something about alter bridge that day. They seemed uninterested maybe becuse they did not sell out idk. Shinedown before them just shredded the place tho, really got the audience pumped up!
@@viikmaqic that’s disappointing to hear! I’ve seen Alter Bridge a few times along with Myles solo. All have been incredible! I will say that AB doesn’t interact with the crowd a whole lot. Not as much as Shinedown that is. Just seen them a couple weeks ago for the second time and they were awesome! Myles solo is constantly talking. But it could’ve been a few reasons why they seemed “lackluster” lengthy tour, tired, off night, anything. I’m seeing Tremonti and Sevendust on the 4th and I cannot wait!! Hopefully they’re out your way on the next album cycle and have a chance to put on a better show!

2 years after you posted this reaction and I am happy that I found it. Your words along with this song are healing me. One of my favorites is when you say "dont let it change you for the worse". Life is not easy, and I feel I have become a little bitter, but I think I can come back. Thank you.

Great Reaction! One of the things I like about Alterbridge is their songs have actual content. When I was growing up in singer songwriter days of the 70s that was common, but now it's quite rare
The theme from Celeb Rehab is called Watch Over You and it is my all time favorite song by them
This song makes me cry every time. I grew up in an extremely broken home, from 4 years old my alcoholic pill popping mom used me as a pawn against my dad until I was 10 when my dad finally got full custody of me then when I was 17 in 2003 I had my life taken away from me when my best friend pushed me out the bed of a truck going between 50 and 70 MPH, fast forward 20 years and i've had 30 brain/head surgeries. I feel broken but Alter Bridge has helped me cross so many bridges in my life since i discovered them in 2004

The song is about a long time friend of Myles who had been battling cancer and unfortunately passed away.
Also heads up, they don’t like being called “Creed 2” or “ Creed with a different singer” etc. Creed and Alter Bridge are 2 totally separate bands.

I have followed AlterBridge since Creed broke up cuz I was a huge fan of Creed but I am so grateful the created AB. My toughest times were nothing like yours but their music sure helped me through it. You can find any song of theirs & it will definitely move you cuz they ALL have meaning. I hope you get to see them live cuz you will hear perfection. They are the perfect amount of Metal, the perfect amount of ballad & the perfect amount of hard rock🤘🏼 if you get a chance listen to all of the Royal Albert Hall performance & you will be blown away. Also would like to suggest a reaction to In Loving Memory from Live at Wembley. It’s a tear jerker too but Mark wrote it foe his mom many years ago. I suggest the live one to see the emotion but any version is great.🙏🏼❤️ Your BlackBird reaction is the best reaction I have ever seen. I got chills with you. Mark Tremonti is 1 Bad Ass fiddle player !! Miles is fantastic as well. They BOTH have Signature PRS (Paul Reed Smith) guitars !! And well deserved!! Watch Over You is fantastic vocals from Miles !!
At first I was like... nah you didn't realise it was about losing someone close to Myles....but as I watched I realised that it doesn't matter, you connected and identified with the song in your own way... and that is the point of music, you make your own connection, and whatever way that is, is right for you... so good on you.
On December 26, 2018 (my dad’s birthday) my now ex called me to say my first child (I was 36 at the time) was lost to miscarriage. I went into a severely deep depression that nearly ended me. I heard this song for the first time six months later and 100% believe it was the turning point that allowed me to crawl out of that hole. I now have an entire sleeve tattoo on my left arm with the lyrics that gave me strength, a huge black bird, and the most beautiful and perfect tattoo of the ultrasound picture we received after the first and only ultrasound. This song saved my life and gave me the hope that one day I too will fly and see my baby again. I truly hope these guys know how much their music has helped some people.

I know this video was posted a while back, and you may have looked it up by now, but the song you remember from Celebrity Rehab is called Watch Over You. One of my favorites - and one of those I have a personal connection to.
Also, Blackbird is about a death of a loved one (a close friend, in Myles’ case), but it’s interesting how you related to it through your struggles.

Cry of Achilles, seriously an amazing trip and an amazing song. A lot of great songs by Alter Bridge but this is in my top 5 for sure, check it out because it's a good listen
I was introduced to AB in kind of a strange way. First, I became aware of Myles when he was in the 2000 movie Rockstar (he's the one Mark Wahlberg's character brings up onto the stage in the last concert scene), and looked him up to find that he was the lead singer for AB. Didn't really go much deeper than that at the time, but then later discovered that WWE wrestler Edge used their song "Metalingus" for his entrance music. When I started looking for more of their music, I was well and truly down the rabbit hole.
When they created Alter Bridge it was supposed to bring the music they really love to people. Creed was a “mainstream” band, but AB ain’t it. Tremonti with Creed was holding his creativity to feat Scott Stapp voice, but as he said, with Myles he can write whatever he wants, Myles is gonna sing it perfectly. With AB they’re loyal to themselfs, and band problems were gone.
Same people (not Scott) but different project and soul.

Prayers for you and your family 😔 I hate hearing about loss from addiction. That means addiction won that day. And I wish people would all get the help they so desperately need. Sadly, most don’t before it steals their life away 😢
@@JustJenReacts we lost her 2 years ago on Father's Day. I saw it coming, but couldn't find a way to get her to understand the love was there. I refused to enable her, but always told her I loved her, but hated her choices. I demanded her sobriety to be involved in my life. It was probably the wrong choice, but the rest of my family continued to enable her destructive behavior.

My favorite AB song. Myles has one of the great voices in rock. And they played this as well or even better than the studio version, which is the sign of a great band. Great reaction Jen. Say what you need to, we are here for you.
I've got a band that I know you'll like. Brand new band called Plush. 4 ladies all 21 or younger, the drummer is 17. They have a new album, have been together little more than a year and they rock. The singer sounds like Ann Wilson crossed with Amy Lee. Jump on this while their new and fresh. They are the future of rock and roll. All 4 are well known on social media separately but now are together. They just finished opening for Halestorm and Evanescence and will be opening for Slash in February.
Let's not forget that Myles also sings for Slash.
The song is about somebody who died of cancer, a friend on Myles' who sold him his first guitar. The blackbird is a representation of the soul in a lot of cultures including some native American cultures.
The one thing I hate is when people say that this is Creed 2. Thank you for saying that they are Alter Bridge, and yes, they are better than Creed. This is my favorite song by my favorite band, so thank you for reacting to it

OK this is not meant as a diss. But honestly I like Alterbridge a lot more than Creed. Probably mostly because of Myles Kennedy. Just my opinion

Myles is a very incredible guitarist. He was a guitar instructor and he also gave lessons to slash while they were at tour. They are mostly a hard rock band but sometimes they get in to metal. They are nothing like creed.
The solo was perfect.... Myles is one of the most melodic lead players, slightly more so than Mark, who we can get pretty melodic, but Myles makes that guitar weep.... On the other side, while Myles can get some good speed, Mark is just better on the melodic shred aspect, and they seem to respect that about each other and splitting the solo was genius
@@williamkramer9731 absolutely! I also love while Mark is a great shreddy metal lead but also he writes amazing clean riffs like in loving memorys intro. In blackbirds solo I always think Myles’ part is a sad part, a weeping person who is devastated from the death of a person, and mark’s part is like aggressive towards the world saying “why he had to go” sorry about my English 😅

Jen, I just subscribed to the channel last night! This is one of the best reaction channels around! Your emotional connection really comes through in your content. There are plenty of musicians and vocal coaches that have fantastic content, but your raw emotion pulled me in..plus, the fact that you're real about life and extremely attractive helped as well, lol! Words Darker Than Their wings from Royal Albert Hall with the Parallax Orchestra. You will get to hear Mark Tremonti's voice cause he does 1/2 the vocals in this song. It'll blow you away. You gotta do it, you won't regret it.

I loved Creed also. One of the first songs I had to learn to play was Torn by Creed. But I will say AlterBridge takes to a MUCH Higher level! They are the ultimate musical journey in every song the put together. You Jen also need to listen to My Champion....one you definitely need and have earned!

Hey Jen, Alter Bridge is def not Creed. he dynamics are different and Myles is an awesome muscision and songwriter. There is some energy going on in Alter Bridge that I coud not find in Creed. Btw the drummer and gitarist were from Creed..
