There are few songs out there that really crosses generations and genres and means so many different things to so many different people, Blackbird is one of them. It's a timeless song, 40 years down the road will still touch so many in their own way and will always be relevant as long as there is human nature on this earth. It's truly one of the most versatile songs I can think of. Seen Alter Bridge numerous times and never disappoint. They are as good live as they are recorded. Creed is basically where Alter Bridge evolved from and Creed was a damn good band as well. Superior musicians, and two very different lead singers but both just amazing.

You have to listen again, and pay attention to the lyrics. They’re very meaningful and impactful. Myles (singer) wrote it about a friend of his who died at a young age (from cancer, I believe) and he also gave Myles his first guitar…which started him down his journey into music.

Their first album One Day Remains was just great. The hit song Open Your Eyes, was awesome, as well as One Day Remains, Broken Wings. But, the song In Loving Memory, is a song I play on my mother's birthday every year as my reminder of her since she pasted in 1970. That song just talks to me and keeps me close to those memories. These guys are just amazing songwriters and performers. So, versatile and meaningful.

The tuning is interesting. Mark Tremonti, Alter Bridge's "Lead Guitarist", is tuned to Eb. However, Myles Kennedy (Singer/ Guitar), is tuned to Eb Drop C# (low E string tuned to C#, everything else tuned to Eb standard). It creates a very dynamic, heavy tone overall!

Mark Tremonti's side project band's new album Marching in Time is great. Title track is a really great song. Hopefully someone requests it. Absolutely uplifting song.
Really glad guys you found this.........Myles Kennedy IMHO has the best rock voice out there. Saw them in London just after their first album release- since then they have scaled the heights! This song can really blow you away..........Tremonti at his best. Written as a homage to one of Kennedy's friends I believe.

The answer to your tuning question is Mark is in Eb Standard and Myles in in Drop Db/C#. I would also agree with my fellow commenters that you have to check out Alter Bridge Live at The Royal Albert Hall from 2017 - I was there for both nights and it is truly a magnificent performance.

I would say they're Creed with a different singer but that's not really correct. While the members may be the same the sound is not. Creed was the caterpillar and Alterbridge is the butterfly. The list just keeps going.

I started the video with a prejudice: I know Myles Kennedy from singing a whole Slash album - he has a strong and impressive voice, but if it's the same after 7 - 8 songs, it somehow gets boring, on this album wasn't much variety. Therefore I never checked out Alter Bridge, but this song is really good, variety in the singing and like someone wrote, more guitar solos than Creed - I think this song's guitar solos are longer than all the solos on Creed's Human Clay ... so I guess, I have to listen to some more Alter Bridge .... you never stop learning, give "new" music always a chance - it might change your mind :-)
Alter Bridge is so unknown by many. IMO, one of the greatest bands of the 21st century if not the greatest. Try listening Broken Wings, Ties That Bind, Brand New Start, Slip To The Void, Isolation, Cry of Achilles, Fortress, The Last Hero :). Actually they have so many great songs. If you have time, I'd suggest listening their whole catalogue starting from their first album One Day Remains - 2004 (which is quite sounds like Creed mostly because of the issues they had with their label) ending with their latest Walk The Sky - 2019. You won't be disappointed :)

Alter Bride basically came from Creed without singer Scott Stapp. Formed in 2004 by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Myles Kennedy, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scot Phillips Myles Kennedy is a great vocalist and Mark Tremonti a great gutarist. Mark Tremonti's side project band's new album Marching in Time is great. Title track is a really great song. Hopefully someone requests it. Absolutely uplifting song.
Myles plays a mean guitar too…that’s him at 7:07, the Tremonti comes in and blows the roof off

Really glad guys you found this.........Myles Kennedy IMHO has the best rock voice out there. Saw them in London just after their first album release- since then they have scaled the heights! This song can really blow you away..........Tremonti at his best. Written as a homage to one of Kennedy's friends I believe.

The answer to your tuning question is Mark is in Eb Standard and Myles in in Drop Db/C#. I would also agree with my fellow commenters that you have to check out Alter Bridge Live at The Royal Albert Hall from 2017 - I was there for both nights and it is truly a magnificent performance.
These guys are awesome! 3/4 of the band are from Creed who were huge in the 2000's, but they added the new singer Myles Kennedy who kills on vocals and guitar. This is a deep hole of great music. Mark Tremonti the lead player is one of the greatest guitar players of the modern era. More please!

The guitar solo of this song played both by Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti (lead guitarist) was named as the greatest guitar solo of all time by Guitarist magazine in 2011 defeating performances by guitar legends such as Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, and David Gilmour. Great review. Love this song. So many more to choose from. My favorite AB songs are Cry of Achilles, Isolation, Fortress, Ghosts of Days Gone By, Calm the Fire and Blackbird too. Myles also has 2 solo albums and he also has been working with Slash for over a decade. Mark Tremonti has several solo albums too!
In 2011 The readers of Guitarist Magazine voted and declared the solo from Blackbird (performed by Mark Tremonti & Myles Kennedy of ALTER BRIDGE) "The Greatest Guitar Solo of All-Time."

I would say they're Creed with a different singer but that's not really correct. While the members may be the same the sound is not. Creed was the caterpillar and Alterbridge is the butterfly. They don't write a bad song. In loving memory, slip to the void, ghosts of days gone by, rise today, fortress, cry of Achilles, wonderful life, watch over you, ties that bind. The list just keeps going.
Myles Kennedy’s stuff with Slash is AMAZING…try ANASTASIA, NOT FOR ME, BEGGARS AND HANGERS ON and they just released a new album that awesome. Oh THE GREAT PRETENDER is Slash’s tribute to the late great Gary Moore
If you want to see how insane Myles Kennedy's (lead singer) voice can go, check out the song called "Summer Girl" by a band he was in before Alter Bridge called The Mayfield Four. The highest part doesn't come until like 4+ minutes into the song, but it's just ridiculous. Waaaaay higher than anything in "Blackbird". It's a much more mellow song, but worth listening to if you like his voice:

Remember Alter Bridge is basically the members of Creed with Myles Kennedy singing. He also is the singer on Slash's solo albums.
He also has a part in the 2001 movie Rockstar where he replaces Mark Wahlberg in the movie band 'Steel Dragon' at the very end of the movie.
For a while Creed got back together while Myles made three albums and was touring with Slash as "Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators".
You need to go down the AlterBridge rabbit hole you will be amazed.
I'm not very familiar with this, though I have heard it before. Miles Kennedy has a great voice indeed. He also sings on some of Slash's solo albums.

Great request here. This band consists of the guitarist from creed and some other members of Creed. I actually dont like Creed at all. But really ejoyed some of this bands albums. Myles kennedy is the lead singer. He is from Spokane Washington. Which is were I reside! He has a great voice! Thanks for reacting to this! Was fun!

Its funny you mention Muse, as Muse and Alter Bridge are my 2 favourite bands, and have been for many years.
I also used to listen a lot of Muse. But after I started listening Alter Bridge, I just couldn't give myself time to listen another band than AB. Did you like their latest album Simulation Theory? I've only listened couple of songs yet from that album.
@@RG049 yeah I liked their new album. Are there any absolute rock bangers on there, no, probably not, but I like how they seem to change style with each album, and there are still some very good songs on there. Saw them live on the tour for this album and the new stuff is great live.

Don’t the chord progressions remind you of grunge? Like Alice In Chains? And his style of singing reminds me of Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell …..OUTSTANDING singer! Great song! A band to investigate.
I started the video with a prejudice: I know Myles Kennedy from singing a whole Slash album - he has a strong and impressive voice, but if it's the same after 7 - 8 songs, it somehow gets boring, on this album wasn't much variety. Therefore I never checked out Alter Bridge, but this song is really good, variety in the singing and like someone wrote, more guitar solos than Creed - I think this song's guitar solos are longer than all the solos on Creed's Human Clay ... so I guess, I have to listen to some more Alter Bridge .... you never stop learning, give "new" music always a chance - it might change your mind :-)
Alter Bridge is so unknown by many. IMO, one of the greatest bands of the 21st century if not the greatest. Try listening Broken Wings, Ties That Bind, Brand New Start, Slip To The Void, Isolation, Cry of Achilles, Fortress, The Last Hero :). Actually they have so many great songs. If you have time, I'd suggest listening their whole catalogue starting from their first album One Day Remains - 2004 (which is quite sounds like Creed mostly because of the issues they had with their label) ending with their latest Walk The Sky - 2019. You won't be disappointed :)
