Interesting. Probably higher velocity than my Beeman piston pistol but the Beeman has adjustable sights. When I want power I use my CO2 22 Crosman 2240 that I have modified for additional velocity.
I really like a modded 2240 too. The only problem is the co2 loss of performance when the temperature drops which is the prime hunting season where I live. And most spring piston pistols lack the power needed for hunting small game.
Thanks for the review. Do you know how it would shoot with lead ball or Smart Shot. Love the idea off a single shot 5 meter garage pistol. 177 maribu darts may also be interesting at the same distance
Actually I think this might make an excellent pistol for you. The trigger is heavier than the Mark IV put I can consistently shoot more accurately with the MarkPoint in spite of the heavier trigger. The Mark IV s automatic safety is really stiff to disengage when the pistol is new and therefore rather annoying. Once it’s broken in one can learn to automatically disengage it with your thumb as you prepare to fire. The sights on the MarkPoint are fixed but much easier to use. Writing this makes me think I should do a comparison video between the two airguns. Look for it soon & thanks for the impetus. And thanks for being here!
Yeah I agree, this would definitely be a great starter gun, as the use of both an automatic and manual safety is definitely great for not accidentally shooting my friend. A slight inconvenience might be that the manual safety is on the left side, and I’m a lefty, but I’d get that with almost every other pistol too. As a beginner, I have no clue ho to calibrate sights so fixed sights might be the way to go. Also if I get an air pistol it’ll mostly be used while hiking which makes the lightweight nature of it is very important. I’d be very interested to see a side by side comparison, as they are both break actions made by umarex.
I’m not planning to take mine apart soon. I believe Fowler may have a video taking one apart for purposes of improving the trigger pull. The Markpoint utilizes a gas spring for power. I suspect it’s a pretty uncommon size so finding a stronger one may provide difficult. You may want to consider a Benjamin in similar configuration as it’s much more powerful.
At the price point of 40-50 bucks shipped I can't believe it's a gas piston at all, nitro pistons come in at double the price point. I believe it's a typo in their manual printing basic generic pdf file someone copied and pasted pictures over it and didn't proof read it

Sweet finely umarex come out with a good brake barrels replica of the mark and no auto safety way better then the other 2 model after the mark it kinda resemble the Benjamin trial in design I wouldn't doubt there some similarities. 💯👌👍💪✌️
I had one of the first Benjamin Trail gas piston pistols. Mine was not good which is obviously why it has been redesigned. I’ve not tried the newer version so I can’t comment other than to say this a much lower velocity. It’s also been really easy to hit with and shoots garbage pellets amazingly well. It’s accurate enough people will want to hunt with it and that would be asking too much. I’m like you about the safety. So happy not to have an annoying automatic sliding safety catch. I’m one of those shooters that had trouble tripping the standard grip safety on a 1911A1 due to a high firing grip. I don’t even notice this one and it’s never failed to disengage. Great legal compromise and good feature for new shooters.

Sorry for the slow response. Crazy couple of weeks at my place. Wife’s out of town, fridge broke down and a number of other household issues have been taxing me. I think you’re right about the MarkPoint being excellent for your saltwater air application. Plus it’s an addictive shooter. Leave it out with a tin of pellets and it’s so easy to pick up and be distracted by. Break, Load, Shoot, Repeat. It can be super relaxing and challenging at the same time. @AlsAirguns sorry to here about your house hold issues I no the can be easily add up quickly hope your able to solve them with out to many issues in no appliances are quite expensive about 2 years ago my washer and refrigerator both needed to be replaced and weren't worth fixing and both broke in the same week . Even though I had bought used refurbished it was still over 1200$ to replace it. Wich now a day for new can be that price for one or the other . There no way id be able to buy new at those prices . I live alone so for me it be out of the quite . Also that's very nice of you to give away anything in two separate give aways. It definitely got me exited. I'm crossing my fingers there only a few times iv ever had a high chance of being able to win something. Even if I'm not the winner . There only maybe a few time we're iv come close to have a decent chance . Iv actually never have won something in a giveaway away or ever matter a fact runner up the closet iv ever been . Yes, it sounds like you can relate. I guess it’s things like this that keep life challenging. Both sometimes I would be okay with fewer challenges like appliances and such. What is the weight of the gun? I found these giant pistols are too heavy to shoot accurately free handed. If there's a carbine version of it, I will buy it in a second.
About 200 pellets,oil it,spray with 3in1 silicone version. Trigger still not cool but is losenin in slooooooovly. If trigger was better it would be more accurate ,put nail polish it helps a lot.I like it more than Mark IV
You’re right about the trigger. Although it does smooth out with use or intervention. Also if you’re familiar with shooting double action Smith and Wesson revolvers, you’re able to stage or stack the trigger through the heavy part and short of release, then pull to break the shot. Doing this repeatedly cause it to wear in.
Ruger IV is bad but this one is cocking is ok I will sell it or return it,I like the gun but trigger failed on how heavy it is.I just broke my shoulder Dr. said surgery won’t help,still can can shoot pfam by Crosman or any revolver….Yea man it suck pain is 100%.You know Colt Fortyfive is cool,19 BBs shoots well and I can use left hand since the the other one hurts AF.Take care man ❤
@@AlsAirguns we had a ton of abs "polymer" Puch and break barrels, they were manufactured better then then they are now, take the Barnet Nitro 45 for example, cheap, solid, still works today, not a seam line in the moulding whatsoever. With CNC machining for mass production, Co2, Nitrogen, PCP technology ready available - Umarex bring out this?
As far as bringing out the Markpoint, I can understand why Umarex would bring a reliable, accurate, low cost, easy to shoot break barrel to the market. So far the consumer response has been extremely good. So I think it was a good move for them. Inexpensive and fun never gets old.

You’re correct in your observations. I could only speculate as to why some people bear it ill will. I think it gets compared frequently to the Ruger MK IV pellet pistol. And I think Americans have a soft spot for Rugers firearm version and because of the very close looks transfer those feeling to the pellet pistol version. However based solely on performance the Markpoint is a superior pellet pistol. I think some people who again have not tried it think it can’t be very good for its $36 price point. I actually had a viewer correct me in the comments at the end of my series and after my referring people in the comments to videos os a complete disassembly and trigger modifications. This person (I suspect an adolescent sitting high upon their thinking stool) informs me that obviously we are incorrect because in their opinion, the pistol is too cheap to be a gas spring. It’s funny the preconceptions and prejudice that some folks bring to simple issues. Certainly there are portions of ant topic that can be debated but there are also other portions that can be confirmed by direct examination and measurement. It’s really important to understand the difference if one wants to be taken seriously. When I worked at a major University lab, my favorite response was (and remains.) I don’t know, let’s find out.
So far I haven't been able to get my umarex mark IV to do so. Have tried Vaseline, 3 in 1, and WD40. No real reason for doing it other than wanting to see it happen in pistol format, and not wanting to use the springers I care about. Alternative fuel suggestions welcome xD
@@AllYourRAw I’m really surprised the WD40 didn’t do it. Is the pistol shooting up to spec. It could be that it’s got a leak and isn’t reaching full compression. Or I guess it’s possible that the pistol lacks the power required to generate enough heat to combust the oil droplets. There was an old air rifle designed to diesel on every shot. It was back in the day and it used ether. It was outlawed as a firearm. Ultimately you may not get it too. But now I am curious as well. Let me think about it.

I might try a small piece of cotton in the skirt soaked in wd-40 to create more surface area. There is a big write up if you type in linseed oil dieseling pellets with some good info that might apply to other fuels as well.
Well I gave it 10 minutes or so & I couldn’t get it to either. I tried some 90% isopropyl alcohol & no go with it either. I did get the Markpoint to but not the Mark IV. I guess it makes sense. We used to put oil in BB guns and they didn’t diesel. Like the Ruger Mark IV they were 240 - 280 fps guns.
I ,Put at least 200+ flat nose pellets,wow barrel was black I recommend cleaning barrels and light oil, use 3in1 silicone and push patches until clean.Big difference and don’t use those alloy,,they don’t even fit…
To be honest I avoid cleaning the barrel in .22lr firearms and airguns. The barrels are typically much softer than center fire barrels (some airgun barrels being brass. And you don’t see much lead fouling & zero copper fouling which is why we clean firearm barrels. Yes, you can get black stuff out. But what is it? More often than not it’s the lubricant they put n some pellets. There are of course exceptions. But as a rule more airgun & .22lr barrels are ruined by improper and over cleaning than any other reason. Sure if after many many shot an accurate gun begins loosing accuracy. Okay, clean it. Manufacturer left gunk in the bore, okay clean it. Otherwise I just shoot them a lot. Run several cleaning pellets (lightly oiled through the barrel once in a while and that’s it (for non-high power pcp guns.)
I just do one clean up and light oil,it’s not like I am cleaning every day and lead acct like graphite,q tip cleaned holes BBs was falling out and now they don’t,the rest of the guns can wait…
It sounds like you clean properly and know how to clean correctly. I used to think everyone was like you & me. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Remember be especially careful with any Benjamin airgun produced in the 90s or before probably has a very soft brass barrel that has a black exterior finish. Don’t use a metal cleaning brush on them.

At 10 lbs trigger pull that's not a good trigger nice cheap gun but expect better from umarex there are much better pistols out there for the price e.g gamo p900 much better trigger at 3lbs great for younger shooters just getting into target shooting.
Mine measure 8 pounds out of the box and has improved some. But yes, definitely a heavy trigger. By the same token many police departments require 12 pound triggers in their Glocks and I’ve seen some shot well. Certainly not a target trigger and I’d prefer 2 or 3 pounds. Unfortunately I think it’s just about impossible to get the lawyers to sign off on that for a general purpose pellet gun. Also, I’ve seen videos about how to reduce the pull if you’re okay modifying.

@@carlpashley185 Welcome and thanks for the comments and kind words. I’m happy to say that the UK is my second largest group of viewers geographically. I think here in the Stated some of us (like me) grew up shooting double action revolvers where you could “stack” the trigger they called it, where you pulled through the heavy part of the pull and stop. Staging it for the final, lighter pull through that drops the hammer. I’m able to stage or stack the Markpoint like that and turn in decent results. The good news is, if you get used to managing a trigger like this a target guns trigger will be oooh so sweet.

Yes it shoots .177 round balls by Gamo. I don’t have any smart shot so can’t say.

About 200 pellets,oil it,spray with 3in1 silicone version. Trigger still not cool but is losenin in slooooooovly. If trigger was better it would be more accurate ,put nail polish it helps a lot.I like it more than Mark IV
You’re right about the trigger. Although it does smooth out with use or intervention. Also if you’re familiar with shooting double action Smith and Wesson revolvers, you’re able to stage or stack the trigger through the heavy part and short of release, then pull to break the shot. Doing this repeatedly cause it to wear in.
Ruger IV is bad but this one is cocking is ok I will sell it or return it,I like the gun but trigger failed on how heavy it is.I just broke my shoulder Dr. said surgery won’t help,still can can shoot pfam by Crosman or any revolver….Yea man it suck pain is 100%.You know Colt Fortyfive is cool,19 BBs shoots well and I can use left hand since the the other one hurts AF.Take care man ❤

@@AlsAirguns we had a ton of abs "polymer" Puch and break barrels, they were manufactured better then then they are now, take the Barnet Nitro 45 for example, cheap, solid, still works today, not a seam line in the moulding whatsoever. With CNC machining for mass production, Co2, Nitrogen, PCP technology ready available - Umarex bring out this?

As far as bringing out the Markpoint, I can understand why Umarex would bring a reliable, accurate, low cost, easy to shoot break barrel to the market. So far the consumer response has been extremely good. So I think it was a good move for them. Inexpensive and fun never gets old.

You’re correct in your observations. I could only speculate as to why some people bear it ill will. I think it gets compared frequently to the Ruger MK IV pellet pistol. And I think Americans have a soft spot for Rugers firearm version and because of the very close looks transfer those feeling to the pellet pistol version. However based solely on performance the Markpoint is a superior pellet pistol.
I think some people who again have not tried it think it can’t be very good for its $36 price point.
I actually had a viewer correct me in the comments at the end of my series and after my referring people in the comments to videos os a complete disassembly and trigger modifications. This person (I suspect an adolescent sitting high upon their thinking stool) informs me that obviously we are incorrect because in their opinion, the pistol is too cheap to be a gas spring.
It’s funny the preconceptions and prejudice that some folks bring to simple issues. Certainly there are portions of ant topic that can be debated but there are also other portions that can be confirmed by direct examination and measurement. It’s really important to understand the difference if one wants to be taken seriously. When I worked at a major University lab, my favorite response was (and remains.) I don’t know, let’s find out.

Any spring gun will diesel, but why? You may blow a seal or weaken the spring.
So far I haven't been able to get my umarex mark IV to do so. Have tried Vaseline, 3 in 1, and WD40. No real reason for doing it other than wanting to see it happen in pistol format, and not wanting to use the springers I care about. Alternative fuel suggestions welcome xD
@@AllYourRAw I’m really surprised the WD40 didn’t do it. Is the pistol shooting up to spec. It could be that it’s got a leak and isn’t reaching full compression. Or I guess it’s possible that the pistol lacks the power required to generate enough heat to combust the oil droplets. There was an old air rifle designed to diesel on every shot. It was back in the day and it used ether. It was outlawed as a firearm.
Ultimately you may not get it too. But now I am curious as well. Let me think about it.

I might try a small piece of cotton in the skirt soaked in wd-40 to create more surface area. There is a big write up if you type in linseed oil dieseling pellets with some good info that might apply to other fuels as well.
Well I gave it 10 minutes or so & I couldn’t get it to either. I tried some 90% isopropyl alcohol & no go with it either. I did get the Markpoint to but not the Mark IV. I guess it makes sense. We used to put oil in BB guns and they didn’t diesel. Like the Ruger Mark IV they were 240 - 280 fps guns.
I ,Put at least 200+ flat nose pellets,wow barrel was black I recommend cleaning barrels and light oil, use 3in1 silicone and push patches until clean.Big difference and don’t use those alloy,,they don’t even fit…
To be honest I avoid cleaning the barrel in .22lr firearms and airguns. The barrels are typically much softer than center fire barrels (some airgun barrels being brass. And you don’t see much lead fouling & zero copper fouling which is why we clean firearm barrels.
Yes, you can get black stuff out. But what is it? More often than not it’s the lubricant they put n some pellets.
There are of course exceptions. But as a rule more airgun & .22lr barrels are ruined by improper and over cleaning than any other reason.
Sure if after many many shot an accurate gun begins loosing accuracy. Okay, clean it. Manufacturer left gunk in the bore, okay clean it. Otherwise I just shoot them a lot. Run several cleaning pellets (lightly oiled through the barrel once in a while and that’s it (for non-high power pcp guns.)
I just do one clean up and light oil,it’s not like I am cleaning every day and lead acct like graphite,q tip cleaned holes BBs was falling out and now they don’t,the rest of the guns can wait…
It sounds like you clean properly and know how to clean correctly. I used to think everyone was like you & me. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Remember be especially careful with any Benjamin airgun produced in the 90s or before probably has a very soft brass barrel that has a black exterior finish. Don’t use a metal cleaning brush on them.

At 10 lbs trigger pull that's not a good trigger nice cheap gun but expect better from umarex there are much better pistols out there for the price e.g gamo p900 much better trigger at 3lbs great for younger shooters just getting into target shooting.
Mine measure 8 pounds out of the box and has improved some. But yes, definitely a heavy trigger. By the same token many police departments require 12 pound triggers in their Glocks and I’ve seen some shot well. Certainly not a target trigger and I’d prefer 2 or 3 pounds. Unfortunately I think it’s just about impossible to get the lawyers to sign off on that for a general purpose pellet gun.
Also, I’ve seen videos about how to reduce the pull if you’re okay modifying.

@@carlpashley185 Welcome and thanks for the comments and kind words. I’m happy to say that the UK is my second largest group of viewers geographically. I think here in the Stated some of us (like me) grew up shooting double action revolvers where you could “stack” the trigger they called it, where you pulled through the heavy part of the pull and stop. Staging it for the final, lighter pull through that drops the hammer. I’m able to stage or stack the Markpoint like that and turn in decent results. The good news is, if you get used to managing a trigger like this a target guns trigger will be oooh so sweet.
