  • This video covers what goes into making your own custom 3D printed center caps for alloy rims. The rims I recently purchased are from a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, and fit my 2004 Toyota Corolla (with a few adjustments), but did not come with center caps, plus I wanted my center caps to have a matching Toyota logo. I go through the theory, design, and production of the center caps, which were made using standard PLA filament and spray paint for the finish.
I might make a future video going into detail on what specifications need to be considered when finding compatible rims for a car, but for this video I just focus on the center caps. Leave a comment on how you think they turned out and thanks for watching!

Nice! I like the peg design where they have to be melted together. What filament did you use?

Thanks for the reply! For this project I used “Ender” brand PLA from creality3dofficial, the website I got my printer from. However, any name brand PLA should work equally well. I recently switched to using eSun PLA and I like it as well.
I have not used PETG filament yet, but it may be a better choice for greater flexibility of the attachment tabs and higher temperature resistance. The center caps I made have been fine though on the car parked outside the last few months, no issue.
