Hi, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your tutorials. I have been sewing for over 43 years. I use the same method you did in this video to make patterns. Great tutorial, BTW. My daughters don't always have the time to come here and let me teach them, so your tutes are very helpful. I can send them the link and they can watch from where ever they are. Your instructions and visuals are spot on and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing. : )

A great tutorial and easy to follow. Superb for anyone just starting out and wanting to be in charge of their own patterns rather than being a slave to the big name pattern companies. Some videos on developing that idea further would be great. For example. changing the sleeve shape and making the dolman sleeve a little fuller by opening the pattern and adding more fullness. Not that it'd be for me, cos I am a bloke. There are a few of that sew!

A great video! I have the perfect tshirt, really comfy & very forgiving of the odd pound or two (five, ten?!) added, but bought at least 20 years back & so its far too faded to wear outside the house. It's escaped every wardrobe purging over the years simply because it's so comfortable to wear, so is definitely going to be used as a pattern for this project. Many thanks, Vanessa, for the time & troouble you put into these videos for us!

a great ideal for making a quick and cute t-shirt..i def will make a few of these before summer...the only thing I would do differently is maybe turn the hemmed edges around the neck, arm holes and bottom, under twice so that the raw edge would not need to be cut and it would have a more finished look...but love this pattern...so easy and cute...garment id like to see is easy skirt, apron, or even a long mid length dress...there are a lot of patterns out there but easy and quick is my speed

I have my fabric cut out for my first shirt, all pinned, and wow, had alot of adjustments to make on my machine. I have an old Kenmore, but I was lucky it has the stretch stitch on it!! I did have to change the stitch length and width several times to get it to where it didn't pop the stitches when I stretched it. I used some scrap for testing. and Voila!! no popping stitches. yay!! Now i just have to get the courage to go sew it together. I love watching your videos and learning!!

Excellent tutorial! I'm re-learning how to sew and I love your lessons. I'd like to see how to attach sleeves to a garment. I started making a nightgown 8 years ago and got totally stuck on the sleeves, so packed it away. Nothing too fancy though, just the basics like the Dolman style t-shirt. Also, simple skirts with slit pockets would be great. Oh - and scrubs too. I could go on & on! lol

I suggest watching both my other videos on sewing with stretch knits. It was probably the fabric you used that caused the sizing to be off. I have found that if you use fabric that has spandex or lycra in it and it does have very good recovery after it is stretched that the top will end up waaaaay too big. Try again with a lightweight cotton jersey and see. It does take some practice but you can do it! Good luck!

You made all the steps look very easy! I'm not a newbie to sewing but haven't done much lately due to ill health, but hope to return soon. Friends have said they're challenged by these issues, so I'd love to see tips about "figure challenges" such as: larger bust than waist/hips; wider shoulders than industry-std. patterns; how to adj. a pattern (or fin. garment) for those w/slight scoliosis or uneven shoulder blades; or altering patterns for post-mastectomy surgery, or arm/neck scars. Thanks!

I also like casual clothes especially yoga pants, T-shirts and simple skirts and dresses. Almost all the patterns are for knits which I find hard to fit. Would appreciate patterns in both woven and knits and also discussions about what to do with clothing in wardrobes that is too short, eg, tops and shifts. Thanks for great tutorials!
